"I can buy one so they barely make any" is a non sequiter. Given that when compared to the same quarter one year earlier Nvidia's earnings increased by 51% in Q4 2020. There is plenty reason to assume that this is down to selling tons of rtx 3000 cards. I bought a 3080 in december 2020 for about 900$ (admittedly not cheap, but it is a good model). Its not exactly Nvidia's fault that the Mining craze is back and that thanks to covid, there is more demand than ever anyways.

@@greatman707 I feel you man. I'm from Southeast Asia and I buy expensive tech from US using a forwarding service called BuyandShip. They only charge around $7 per lbs (cheapest I found) and they're faster than other services I've tried.

@@TRak598 not necessarily. voxel based RT/PT is simpler to just get working (even if badly when you don't know what you're doing), and a lot more optimizable when you actually do know what you're doing
What resolution were you running for the thermal benchmark. Wondering if I need to water cool this time around
If you account for the fact the GPUs are still brand new and the driver optimizations take a little while to improve the performance in the games to the best they can be I think it will get closer to being 2x RTX 2080 performance in the near future, just like back when the 1070 came out it was a 10% less powerful than the 980Ti initially, then ended up being 5-10% faster once more drivers came out and I think we will see that with the 3070 vs the 2080 Ti when it comes to raw performance.

Although for entertainment, even though it is very relaxing, it will be a bit boring until quality addons are available. Android Tablet: I used to use a Surface Pro, but Windows software tends to make things more complicated than they need to be, depending (there are times when you do need it), so I use an S4 right now. Video editing, audio editing, simple image edits, writing scripts for my videos, VPN to work through Citrix casting to a 42". It's a decent workhorse. For how small it is with a bluetooth keyboard and mouse, it works well. Not an iPad Pro, but a lot cheaper, especially with trade-in. Works for me.
Do the 3090 and 3080 mount holes line up? Can you mount a 3090 cooler to a 3080? I would LOVE to see that happen. The results would probably CRAZY

Like, may I ask, I am planning to configure a new computer recently, I don’t know whether to choose the graphics card is nvidia RTX 3090 or 3080? I wonder if the 3090 with 24G of video memory will be much faster than the 3080 with only 10G of video memory? I mainly use it for DAZ 3d graphics rendering, but I have almost never seen the evaluation of DAZ rendering speed. I am a little confused. I hope to make some suggestions. Thank you!

SR-IOV would enable so many ideas in home computing, like imagine a cloud media and gaming center in your house, streaming games to tablets and TVs with no internet and no lag.
@linus, I'm having a hard time understanding exactly what you mean around @10:39. Does this mean that we cant do gpu passthrough at all on unraid, or does it mean I just cant use 1 gpu for multiple VMs? I build a 2 gamers on 1 pc with unraid and if I couldn't even use it on passthrough this would be a huge disappointment.

Just get a watercooled GPU and put the radiator on the rear exhaust. Put a fan on the front on the inside, and bam, it'll dump all the heat into your room directly.

@@TetheredNano Yeah that's what I do (have a 560 Monsta radiator). I still haven't figured how to dump the heat into a parallel universe though, best I can do is dump it outside by switching to an external radiator (that isn't very efficient if it's already 40C ambient outside, space in a parallel universe would be better, -270C in the shade assuming it's more or less identical to this one).

Can you tell me, with an ordinary dual or triple fan design there the hot exhaust air from the GPU ( say a 2080 ) will go to?
My guess is circulating in the mid-case very shortly before.... getting sucked trough the CPU heatsink.
Perhaps not all, I'm thinking a lot will go through the rear exhaust fan of the case as well, yet still.

I've been rocking my RTX 3080 Suprim X from MSI for almost a year now, since last December. Got it for an MSRP and i couldn't be happier. It's a fantastic product, same as 1080 Ti once was.

80-90% better than 1080ti for 4k
25% better than 2080ti for rasterization at 4k
30-34% better than 2080ti with RTX on
45% better in Minecraft RTX and Quake 2 RTX
most things are CPU count below 4K
BWM render is 27seconds so it is very good for productivity

@@xdripx4970 I don't think it's overblown. It can do max ray-tracing at 4K native/60/Ultra. Not even the 2080 Ti gets close to that.
@@xdripx4970 It's not really productive to compare it price/performance to the 2080ti, the 2080ti was extremely expensive for what it was, especially when looking back at what flagship cards sold for previously. I personally think the price of the 3080 is just a reaction from Nvidia given the poor sales performance of the 2000 series, as if they were testing what the market could bare price wise at the time. What this card is being sold for is fair for what it is given how good the cooler is and is a definitely a leap in performance compared to last gen - not as much as people were under the impression it would be, but solid.

Was the 2080 the best performance at that price point even when it was released? Wasn't it same price as the 1080 Ti and actually slower in a many games.
