uh, nah, a lot of us were in our 20s. gen z is not everyone on the internet. I think the secret to vine was forcing creators to stay within 6 seconds, which limited the cringe factor, and that tiktok was basically a lip-syncing app until vine died and it had to evolve to take vine's place

-Attacking against the source instead of proving that the evidence in that specific article was wrong, is a genetic logical fallacy.
-Media made the assumption that the Pelosi attacker was from side X just because he was anti-government. Well the side Y is also full of people who distrust the government, so this is no evidence at all. The attackers whole front side of the house is full of posters that very strongly indicate that he was on the side Y, but this evidence is ignored by him and media.
-He clearly denies that there is censorship of truth in twitter before Elon.
-He hides that fact that the "non-radicals" are at least as radical as the other sides radicals, and the "radicals" violence is just the expected counter reaction of the other sides oppression and violence. Twitter allowed posts that caused the Christmas parade attack. Elon openly want to stop all radicalization, while the old twitter supported Mar ists liars

To be honest vine before was amazing with super popular memes and especially when there were creators like thomas sanders, king bach, marlon webb, and basically any popular youtuber before 2014.
But now if vine does actually come back I feel like it wont be the same anymore, it had its golden age and it died with happy memories. But maybe Id be wrong i dont know.

Now if all the imposter ones can also get a checkmark you've just kind of destroyed the purpose of verification checkmarks. they don't get that if CZcams suddenly closed down tomorrow, then they'd grieve and cry too. If tiktok gets banned, then they'd compile all the best content and scream about how good it was. Like there was way more shitty stuff on vine too, there was a horde of content creators which were straight up cancerous on there.
Put it this way though, even if it’s the same content, I’d much rather have and use Vine rather than a TikTok, and having it as an actual competitor to TikTok seems like an interesting prospect

TikTok may eventually get banned in the US, there are legitimate concerns regarding cybersecurity when it comes to China. I can see a lot of creators congregating to Vine if this does occcur.

I agree. I kind of "unironically" like Elon, but Vine should just stay in the grave... When you start bringing stuff back, because of "Muh Nostalgia" it always tends to fail. It was a great app, possibly one of the greatest apps ever created. Let's leave it at that and remember its greatness, and not forcefully try and bring it back. I will give Elon MASSIVE credit if he can bring it back, and it succeeds just as much as it did back in 2011. But I have loads of doubt.

Why is it so hard for people to let good things rest, and not try to revive them. Vine is so liked and “missed” partly _because_ it’s dead. We only keep the good parts alive in our memories, and the bad parts faded away. Also, people really like the fact that you can’t go and see an original vine. Good vines feel like artifacts. If it’s brought back and widely available again, the nostalgia will disappear, and it won’t be any cooler than any other social media platform. There’s no point, and it’d ruin the almost universally positive reputation it has. Not to mention that our favorite vine creators have already settled into new forms on content, and the new creators who would’ve succeeded on vine are already on TikTok, getting paid for their content. What can Vine offer that another social media doesn’t?

People seem to forget that Vine wasn't all that great in its last year of operation. A lot of ads plagued the platform. Plenty of idiotic trends popped up, same as Tik Tok. People like Lele Pons, Logan and Jake Paul were on the platform and went on to make some subpar content. Even then, I think people need longer form content than simply 6 seconds these days. Tik Tok culture may be cringy and stupid to follow, but Vine easily could've been the same. Twitter shut it down before short-form video services became immensely popular. Vine, if released today, will either be a watered-down form of Tik Tok, or something altogether entirely terrible. I can't tell now, but, with Musk at the helm, I already don't trust it.
Mogul Mail is just what I need, he gets to the point, gets all the details, and is entertaining all in the same video, and is on the way to beat Ludwig in sub count. Amazing

Vine will never work in the modern world, The 6 second videos only allowed you to make "funny = random" videos and the Vines that you laugh at are the ones you've already seen 100 times and you're only laughing because you have good memories of it. I think vine could be good if they keep it strictly to that 7 second format (or maybe like 15 seconds, 7 is nothing) for 1) being kinda like Twitter and therefore appropriate, and 2) being easy to make content for. To deal with the people that reupload long videos in 3728 part series, maybe just take them to a Twitter post of the full video or possibly have a rule against it because it's so annoying. That said, it's very hard to monetize and they'll probably become a tiktok clone anyway, but it's a nice thought that maybe it could be the viral video generator that tiktok is, without the cringe of tiktok's dance based past or stolen content based present. Alternate slightly crazy idea, only allow videos taken by the camera, and allow subtle edits like tiktok or yt shorts. I don't mind high effort content but it's worth the sacrifice to get rid of Reddit text to speech or gameplay vid + satisfying vid, or blatantly stolen content
