Alan has the benefit of being able to submit anything he wants and claim it's evidence, without having to worry about being taken to court over slander-the opposite is obviously the case for everyone else, and that will unavoidably hold them back from being able to provide whatever they can to counter whatever Alan is currently conjuring up.

I’ll be honest. I mostly forgot about the smash drama aside from the occasional joke. They really ought to have just stayed quiet about it, and most of us would have forgotten.
more so when smash is involved. from what I've seen Nintendo completely hates any and all smash players. the money from sales must be out of this world considering how much they seem to detest smash players existence

Lugwig is such a Saint to the Smash Community and most importantly, Melee. He has never forgotten his roots and always supports them even at a massive loss of money. Love this man

This whole situation just felt like Alan was trying to monopolize the smash scene for Panda so unless his evidence is some momentous shit, I'm glad all his plans are burning to the ground

Always be wary of anyone who claims to have evidence or receipts they don't post immediately. Mick Gordon did it the right way by staying silent until he was ready.
He wanted to make himself the Roger Goodell of the smash community. I think it's perfectly reasonable to think that he wanted to unify and legitimize the scene, but he did so in the worst way possible by trying to strong arm community leaders. He tried to "my way or the highway" everybody and they chose highway.
And the biggest mistake seems to be that his ego needs stroking and so he puts himself in the middle of the authority. It's pretty fitting that he wanted Panda as the arbiter of the competitive scene, then when everything went tits up, there's a double secret reason why Panda and Dr Alan are the villains and it has to do with multiple parties "endangering" Panda. Nothing says ego like saying your enemies are to blame for everything exclusively and that you have no reason to apologize.

I love Scar's view on it, which is that the Smash community doesn't need to reach out to Nintendo, and hopefully, Nintendo will ignore us. As soon as we try to get Nintendo's attention by reaching out for licensing or pushing for Nintendo to do something on our behalf, that attention turns into looking for any reason to shut down our events.
Will they still try to shut things down when they're done low-key? Probably. But that's happened all along. I really don't see a way that Nintendo can/will prevent events from happening long-term. It always seems to be a quick termination followed by the Smash scene being off their radar for a bit. Maybe just pump the breaks on including the word "smash" in the branding, and the "brand-new" VGBC World Tour can operate like we've wanted it to all along.
The only way to morally win in corporate America is to stop playing the corporate game.
One thing I really like about Ludwig is that he might make alot of money, but he also isn't afraid of just dropping a bunch of money on something because he knows he can. Putting money back into the community is a nice gesture.
Really eager to see this "statement with evidence", if it even happens.

I got into smash because of the original documentary. It was still quite small. No signed players. I ended up playing less and less throughout school but its wild to see what it has grown into. The fact that the community has someone like ludwig is a blessing.

My guess as to how Dr. Alan could frame it is that maybe Nintendo has been telling him all along that in the future, they would no longer allow unlicensed Smash events and he was just "warning" the other tournaments and BTS that it was going to happen in the future, and he was trying to shield them from that by legitimizing them through becoming part of the Panda cup. Maybe when he said "BTS is putting the community in jeopardy" he could say that "they didn't listen to me when I tried to warn them that Nintendo was going to try to shut them down," therefore jeopardizing the entire community by not listening to him. I think the angle for the SWT lying part is going to be that Nintendo didn't grant the license but they didn't shut the tournament down, maybe he'll even claim that they're shutting down the tournament of their own volition for some as-yet undisclosed reason. Of course, I don't know that any of this is the case, but if I were trying to craft a winning strategy for Dr. Alan, this is the angle I would take.

I absolutely love how the players are willing to come to your event, because they understand you're not about the money you just wanna see some smash. They could have all been like nah 2 events canceled I dont want a 3rd canceled. But they actually know you and support what you do and I think that's awesome.

LD is the one who got me in to esports. I work in to Dota 2 scene and in my early years I leaked something huge. He's one of the people (there were a lot of other people that also gave me advice) that pulled me aside to make sure I never did something stupid like that again (I leaked a VERY LARGE organizations acquisition of a team and ruined their entire subsequent announcement). I highly doubt BTS is at fault here, as Alan says.
Seems to me like Alan wanted to burn the scene down to the ground and plant his own perfect seeds in its place, but little did he know there isn’t a fire without smoke.

Im gonna say it besides the moist man himself lud is prob one of the best content creators on youtube currently the guy is doing such an amazing thing for the smash community. Even as someone who has only played the first smash as a kid on n64 and never followed the scene of smash im still a gamer and as such i have such a major respect for my fellow gamers who grew this scene into what it is even with the creators spiting in their faces constantly. To see lud coming to those very gamers who have been kicked down like this both as a f u to the ones who kicked them but because of his love of the scene is truly an amazing thing to see lol nothing but respect for my man here.

Ahhh the fallacy I learned the hard way with my own doctors. Smart, sure thing, gotta be, but not necessarily wise. Doing the right thing and knowing to do things are sadly two very distinct concepts.
So many people I envy the smarts and knowledge and skill and experience, yet it often turns out they're not the wholly superior beings I thought them to be. And I think that's why: smarts & knowledge vs wisdom. Having the former in droves doesn't imply the same for the latter. It's a seemingly contradicting idea that someone who can understand very complex things can have such poor judgement in some situations, but that's just it, it treats to different types of thinking. It's a normal expectation to have, but it turns out very savant people can be just as flawed as anyone else in various aspects of life.
