How you managed not to get all that stolen is a miracle
As you were removing all those mounts I said to myself “he needs to get himself a 4140 skin wedge tool”.
Then to my surprise, you own one too. Great tool!
The skin wedge tool originally developed for the aircraft industry, but has quickly become popular among installers in the automotive industry.
haha it was my installer who gave me one! Awesome tool. :)
Love the video! Your wife is ok with having to jump start the car because of the dash cam 😂 She’s a saint!
lol
Got me hanging now in case u get a big suv to see how u set up an alp and if u use two txs up front
Installer waiting on my third car install. Told him must watch vortex when you do ur upcoming laser testing. Now we gotta wait on ur suv
Ur content is awesome !
Heh, I saw you make a post on a particular forum the other day... I know what it is!!! 😀Excited for the reveal. We're also interested in one so I'll be following closely.
lol we took delivery yesterday and I'm loving it so far! I think the rain just stopped so I can go out and shoot the intro video on it now. :)
FYI, Course Motorsports makes some pretty neat mounting solutions for phones (and similar). They might be worth a try if they make a version for your next vehicle model. In my experience, they all install very clean and secure. The ball fits most other mounts, so you can use nearly any phone holder you prefer.
Often, because you remove a panel near a HVAC vent when installing a Course Motorsports mount, you can run a cord through a vent and hide the cable for the phone mount/charger. You may have to do another add-a-fuse or find a creative way to get power, though. I guess you have experience with that sort of thing...
If you (and/or your wife) like horizontal phone mounting, Samsung's own wireless phone holder/charger has the functionality of your old one, is more suited to horizontal orientation, works with the Course Motorsports mounts, and dosen't rattle. I've been using that setup in 2 vehicles for nearly 2 years and have been quite pleased.
1:48 i get KA false alarms from satellite TV dishes. anytime there's a weak KA signal ill look around and often see a dish pointing in the direction of my car or the road.
I don't know why he thinks you can't get KA falses, maybe he's just not used to them but I have certainly had them. They are rare enough it doesn't bother me but they still happen.
I get Ka falses near airports . Even the V1 will J out sometimes on Ka.
Great info. I'm looking to get a detector that works within android auto on my motorcycle so I can here the alert through my speakers. Will the Uniden R4 do this or is there another reasonably priced detector that will?
Heat gun on the outside of the windshield where the double sided tape is for the dashcam, then a plastic razor blade to get under the mount to lift it slightly. Will come off very easily from there! :)
Thank you!
I hope you do a full install videos of everything going into the new car like this one
100%
I like to use antiseptic wipes to remove the tape from windshield.
That Viofo emergency button seem to not work most of the times I press it sadly.
The wife is fully protected! Hope you pull the trigger on a new Model Y, you will be very happy and love the tech...
I wonder how the 16V system would play with all of his countermeasures. Some stuff doesn't care, others are more picky about the higher voltage.
With all the radar detectors (and laser jammers) you have, Why did you give your wife an "OK or just alright" radar detector?? 🤔 LOL 😂. I smell dog house for Vortex... Jk. 😉
The detector is a suitable fit for her needs. Range is fine, responsiveness is better than Escort’s current Blackfin detectors, BSM filtering is worse but K band is off so it doesn’t matter. Against the radar guns in the area and the way officers use them, this detector is fine. It comes down to understanding your tools.
@@VortexRadar Seattle myself; would love to more re: "Against the radar guns in the area and the way officers use them, this detector is fine" Trying to build out a system and would appreciate it!
Oooh, is the next car a Civic Type R? Go for it!
on the topic of the dash cam killing the car while in parking mode - does it not go on motion detection to record? my admittedly extremely cheap chinese dashcam that does front/rear/interior will only begin recording when the front lens detects motion, and will stop when that motion has ended and go back into standby.
i also have a similar voltage cutoff fuse tapped into my rear accessory fuse, i've had no problems with it draining the battery to any substantial degree
To remove the 3M tape, heat gun is your friend. (don't overheat tho)
did your experiences with the laser actually jam it with the ZR5?
Yep, particularly on a smaller vehicle when running just two heads
I’ll make you a buddy deal on a dual TMG.Its in the for sale section on the RD site
only a 5 amp fuse for all those devices on that add a circuit? also, t-taps? tisk tisk
What makes you think everything was on one 5 amp fuse? There were two add-a-circuits and the ZW5’s were wired into the battery directly. If you run the actual numbers things were fine which is why I never had issues with fuses. Thanks for the feedback though.
@@VortexRadar fair enough. It looked like a couple t-taps on there, so I incorrectly assumed all the devices were wired there.
What's a good laser jammer?
You mean parking sensors. Jammers don’t work. Parking sensors work great.
@13:12 missing clip?
Ugh not again. Stupid plugin. :(
Let me know if you want to sell that jammer.
Can that thing even speed? Haha . Congrats to the family upgrade. I'm guessing you guys are going for an SUV ?
lol yeah people used to say the same thing about the Miata 😄
I have to laugh having all of these CMs in a Fit. Car can barely break 80 mph without huffing and puffing and that lil VTech screaming at the top of its lungs.
It sounds like your Honda Fit needs some maintenance.
Great car - the Honda Fit - too bad Honda stopped making them- We need cars like the Fit.
My father has a Honda City, which is bigger than the Fit but has the same engine, and it can make more than 120. But if you only change the oil when the oil pressure light comes on, it will start to drive like you said.
magsafe >>
Is that available for Android yet? I have it in my car for my iPhone and it’s great.
@VortexRadar there are a lot of cases, for various Android devices, which add compatibility with Magsafe accessories.
