still always know this animation is borderline irrelevant cause this was done during the free to play beta-test trial period before they officially launch the game and it was where you are forced to use default gear and speed runners(or just the best optimized setup) swap out the anjanath torso with hunters torso to get increased atk up, Along with the jank in the hitboxes that plague the beta test until they fix/patch it in the main game. Also iirc, their updated defender gear given to new players in the game make it a even easier cakewalk I think.
And also you never fight nerg in the wildspire waste at all in the main storyline.
You did a great job nevertheless, your behemoth video was peak, "where is that LS a**hole?", best😂
It's the guy from the thing!
NCH pog
Honestly, even if it’s something most exclusive for beta, I still used that video as help during time I still play MHW.
If anything, the general rules still matter.
can't wait to see him watch the other vids when he gets to those monsters, loved these vids when they came out.
Nergigante is still one of my all time faves; actually enjoyed farming him 4367x or so
Been a long time, I think I remember on insect glaive I could be WAY above him and half his attacks would still hit me. Pissed me off.
Lol same, to the point I was basically trying to speed run his ass. Was getting sub 2 min clears I think (been several years since I played) on Tempered Nergi
Edit: Meant sub 2mins, not 1min. Fat fingered on my phone and didn't notice.
Man, I had to kill Nergi 43 times to get one Gem drop.. and I was spamming gold missions with several rewards. Like it was honestly depressing. I wasnt even happy that I finally got the gem cause I had already been beaten down and defeated for the last 20+ kills...
@22Arcana under 1 min would be nuts but I believe that speed running channel who used to speed run mhw bosses did a sub 1 min. But I believe that was with a fully party not solo. The fastest I ever did was a 2min 47 sec nergi kill with Bow. But this was pre expansion.
Tidus has 2:04 with fatalis armor on ruiner, but im not sure if sub 1:30 is done solo
Asmon is farming off stream, he is playing for fun and not just for work.
Not that he isn't enjoying the game, but he's farming the stuff he is off-stream because he knows most people don't want to watch that.
@@joshwalton25 yeah, given his tendencies to pick up everything or specific thing, farming off stream is a good choice.
@@joshwalton25from my experience, watching farming RPG game is boring as a viewer (the only thing watching is the youtuber/streamer) just plain doing A B C as much. This kind of game is good for playing not for watch except watching asmond dead bcs some stupid or story progress.
@@joshwalton25yeah he usually farms off stream or on his second twitch channel. But usually when it's not wow he's doing it off stream
Isn't he streaming exclusively on his alt account that isn't monetized? He doesn't even stream for work.
I love that asmongold is so into the game now that he watches everything related to mhw. I hope he keeps it like this.
He will do it until he beats the game and then wait for new content to come out
Hope he watches the weapon and mechanics tutorials *looking at that slinger ammo*

This is literally the last step in the game's tutorial, where it teaches you how to actually dodge properly. Turn away and jump. If your back is to a mob as you run away, jumping results in a belly flop. As long as you stay on the ground it grants invulnerability from most attacks.
most? is it not all attacks? Invincible until animation ends and you get control again.
@@LeetTron5000you cannot survive behemoth ecliptic meteor, alatreon escaton judgement, Safi’jivva sapphire star, etc. attacks by being on the floor.
Safi'jiiva says hi.
What? You can superman in any direction. You just need to be running first. Has nothing to do with your back
@@Rainsoakedcoat your back must be to the attack.. if the projectile is about to hit you from offscreen behind you and you happen to be moving forwards then holding the dodge button will do the dive. But there MUST always be some attack behind you. Yes it can be in any direction technically, but because of the condition of an attack having to be behind you, 99% of the time you do the dive you will be running backwards because the monster should be in front of you doing an attack.
He's my favorite. One of the few elder dragons that fight fairly, no crazy gimmicks or environmental damages, just sheer brute force.
I'm pretty sure the fight in the elder recess has a few rocks you can drop on its head.
@@atraxian5881The rock drops are an option at the very least and you’re not forced to use them on Nergigante. Unlike, say, Alatreon where they broke his fight completely with the “do this stupid thing that makes no sense or you’re dead anyway” idiocy (of which I blame Behemoth for ultimately causing).
He has Bleed.
One thing i like about the MonHun comunity as a concept better than when it happens ion other games where people share information, learning the fights yourself is perfectly okay, but if you happen to hear from others what they do to deal with something or what signs to look for during a hunt they've heard or seen themselves is SO MUCH like being part of an actual guild of hunters man... and it's specially welcome in a game where you can hit the threshold for situations that can wipe an entire party at once, we're just learning from those who carted before us
To this day, people still don’t realize the hitbox from the dive bomb is due to Nergi shedding all spikes as it slams. It’s not just the monster’s body to avoid.
As helicopter IG main, I never have this problem. He is very easy to deal with
I don't understand how people could miss that when you can literally see his spikes shoot out in multiple attacks, but tunnel vision ig
@@thewaltnerprobably from panicking

Glad to see more people discovering NCH's animations. Hope he gets to the Banbaro one.

The banbaro song omg 😂

It’s Banbaro time
Asmon still haven't figured out how to fully utilize slinger ammo yet. They aren't just about damage, most of the ammo are like for utility tool to make hunts a bit more manageable.
For example, fire torch ammo can be used to clear up miasma in Rotten Vale when shot at the ground.
Stone ammo might seem useless, but you can use it to activate some enviromental traps from safe distance, such as the frogs, boulders above, or even use it to lure monster to a certain spot.
Also... any slinger ammo are good for "wall banging" aka flinch shot.
I like to headshot monsters with slinger ammo to make them flinch and stop their attack
Thorn pods will stick to monster for a bit and do blunt DMG to the monster if you hit the monster part it is stuck in.
You can use this to ko a monster even if you aren't using a blunt weapon. (Works better with weapons that hit often like dual blades)
i told a group of friends the miasma trick yesterday and they had somehow missed this. I swear this was mentioned in the original quests in that area, but they've all been fighting in that shit. Also, bomb-pods are great for stumbling a monster before it smashes the guy who got greedy. If you see something winding up for an attack and you have a pod to spare, launch it.
@@mattvoelker241 Also tell your friends that wearing mantles will cover your character’s nose and mouth with a mask which lets you ignore the miasma until the mantle runs out.
I love Nergigante so much that he is my main monstie in Monster Hunter Stories 2 ❤
Editors sweating writing Nergigante
How many times you proofread this comment?
@@Shadare I had to reread his comment a few times.
Nergi was like the monster that made me change tactics. So I swapped my LS to Lance for 2nd time hunting it, and now I can say Nergi made me learn how to Lance in MHW.
that was me with pickle, had to drop charge blade
for me it was the brute tigrex, playing lance against it is so macho-man.
Loved the time splitters FP music 0:18 brought back some classic memories. GOAT game.
I struggled with Nergigante for so long because I had no idea of one game mechanics, panic diving. The moment I learned that your character runs and dives(instead of rolling) when running away it made those dive bombs a piece of cake.
Only learned of this after 20 tries though lol.
Knowing when to belly flop is essential for Niergigante and a lot of HR monsters in general.
Sheath your weapon and dodge while running away from a monster and you'll do a "dive" dodge. It gives you several years worth of invulnerability. You are supposed to use this on the Nergi divebomb.
nah, just power block it with lance. sheathing is for plebs.
Its just sad that asmon never met Narga sensei. Best monster for new player practising. Hope he play iceborne so he can met my fave monster
He have iceborn right ? Still long way
He'll definatly play Icebourne should be tonight or tommorow. I like very similar games to him so i'm sure he will go all the way to Fatalis because MHW is a very very good game.
I swear the story/assigned version of monsters are way easier than the option/event version. Story mode was a breeze, but once you go redo them, they become more of a pain to do. It might also be first-try syndrome though.
apparently they nerfed the hp of the monster before iceborne. could be why? made main quest easier for faster progress?
@@Snaky99If they did that's cool lol. I played back when the game launched and Nerg was no joke lol. Granted I wasn't as good at the game as I am now either, but back then even with the best weapon/armor available at that point, correct elements and whatever, it took me about 20 tries to clear that quest, and when I finally did I had like 45 seconds remaining.
That was the problem I had. I wasn't carting or anything, I would just wail on him as much as I could for 50 mins straight and there wouldn't even be skulls around his icon, not even close to dying.
event monsters do generally tend to be slightly more difficult than others, they also tend to have slightly higher chances for rare loot such as gems (not better than investigations tho but this applies to all the other MH games too)
@@Snaky99quite the opposite actually. the overall hp pool of monsters was amped up after Iceborne released. Also, monsters are now way more prone to run away/change areas. to compensate for that, yiu're supposed to make frequent use of the clutch claw.
e6240 yeah me too I go absolutely demolished by nergi and picklejho🤣
One thing I learned in karate growing up that surprisingly helps during fights in games like this is to always be moving, circling your target is best.
This is why charge blade mains are gods, basically tank "EVERYTHING" then unleash vial combo hell.
Other than Fatalis, Nergi is second on my list for most farms. It just such a good fight solo.
Wow never thought id see an NCH video on this channel xD
it brings a tear to my eye that good old nergi is still so good at teaching ppl that traps don't work on elders
One thing to keep in mind with Nergi's hitboxes is that many of his attacks throw spike shrapnel. A divebomb releases all his spikes, and his spikes become soft again and his attacks won't throw shrapnel until they grow back. This is true for Ruiner too.
I fucking love how he read everything except "i dont recommend blocking, use superman dive"
He finally learns how to block, but uses it when you should not 😂
I love this man
nothing wrong with blockin this. with gs probably gonna run into more scenarios where trying to sheathe and super dive just gonna get you killed.
@@LeetTron5000 the great sword code dictates if you cant tcs them mid attack to just shoulder the damage, break off r2 you don't need it for this majestic weapon
unfortunately for more context, this was during the beta test play where you're given default gear to fight it, blocking will chip damage you to death regardless.
this animation is kinda irrelevant if your only experience is with the base game and given the improved starter gear as this is all about during the free to play beta test phase trial of the game where everything wasn't "Balanced" or "fixed" yet
@@diveblock2058 Try shoulder tackle fatalis attacks and soon u will see how godsend guard up on GS is
@@huynhnhatanh25012000 fatalis attacks you can just doge normally....there arnt any attacks that you can't just sheeth and walk away from if you just pay attention to animations
Like, what attacks are you blocking? lol you should be at his stomach if you are playing gs, so that leaves the slam and upwards fire breath and the stomp? (Speaking about phase 1-2) 3 changes playstyle, but you should still be going full offence in stage 3
Superman dive, thing has invul frames up the wazoo! Saved my ass every time.
Nergigante and ruiner Nergigante are two of my favourite monsters to fight
This and the Maganamolo one have me 💀 every time 😂😂
Such a classic video, but dude I swear hunting him in the beta was like impossible cause such a short amount of time was given. If we got like another 5 or 10 min it woulda been easy
Fighting Nergigante with Spear and the Unbreakable skill is awesome. Everybody else runs for cover when he goes for his dive attack and you just power up the shield and tank it.
Asmon saying "Uh, bro." to traps when expecting Nergigante to get caught, not knowing it can't because it's an Elder Dragon.
I lance main and lance with max shield skill can block his dive bomb. Most other weapons, when his spikes are fully grown, I recommend just put your weapon away and take evasive manoeuvers. Once he dive bombs, that's your chance to go on the attack again.
Laughs in Lance with guard 5.
If you get good, nergi is pretty much just a target dummy, because he easily gets stunned
Nergi Divebomb is dodged by putting away your weapon, sprinting AWAY from it and pressing roll when it dives - you'll make what is called a Superman dive - a leap that has a ton of iFrames.
arch tempered nergigante pre ice-borne still haunts me today. The only monster i couldnt beat
Asmon: "Yea I just block that attack"
Video: * I DO NOT RECOMMEND BLOCKING *
Lance player... wait you should not block that ? (when basically it do 0 damage (or really small damage)).
Still, somewhere, got a clip of where I'm lancing and I'm too low on stamina to do anythin but pray. Then Nergi takes that flying death-leap in my direction and I whiff the shield-block timing. Fave monster ever to lance, from regular to IB endgame. My cheapest MH/IB fix will come from picking up a used PS4 because heck with waiting.
I was able to guard point the dive bomb once. I still list it as a notable accomplishment on my resume.
This was made before the official release of the game if I remember correctly showing off the fight. There was only default armor sets and weapons you could use in the fight, so people were having fits and the community shared info with each other for tips like this animation. Most other animations this animator has is mostly just gags.
First time fighting Nergigante, I was using switch axe. I can't evade his dive. Then I switched to LS and he never hit me 1 time...
yes that yellow frog is that stronk!
you want questionable hit boxes, go back and fight a Plesioth with that ridiculous hip check.
6 years later and I still haven't beat regular Nergigante
Asmon reacting to a 5 year old video and learning boss mechanics is awesome to me
Nergigante is my favourite monster from the base game. Just love his design and his aggressive play style. It was very enjoyable farming him for a couple days straight.
Now he's got to watch all five episodes of terminal montages something about on monster hunter
I remember the first time I was finally able to take down Nerg years ago, it was such a pop-off moment.
If u want to dodge attacks like the dive bomb u have to belly flop it negate all damage
Nergy was me and my friend's favorite hunt. We had good times fighting them
4,000+ hours and i didnt know about the dive bomb and the spines 🤣🤣 every week i learn something new in this game
- havent touch mhw in 3 years
- hear nergi's music
- still get PTSD
I love Ner, and this isnt even the worst one to fight. There is an MR fight of Nerg where he gets fast, more aggressive and does more damage the lower his hp gets. That version is my favorite to fight because its so frantic and if you go in not realizing this, this Nerg will wreck you.
U talking bout the ruiner Nergigante
Regular Ruiner is a pushover.
Tempered is much more of a challenge though, especially with the return of the Pepega Slam.
@unknowncensored1267 Yes that's the one thank you, been so long I forgot its name.
Theres 2 types of Nergi hunters: The ones who struggle with it to death and the ones who use Nergi as a punching bag to test new builds
My built is max guard + guard up + max health up. With HBG with 3 shields. I call it my “immovable object” build.
Wait till he starts fighting enraged Elder Dragons
That "In a Nutshell" series is one of the greatest public service announcements in video game history.
Nergy is beyond easy with Pierce ammo on the Light Bowgun, but you still have to dodge. Kinda. The best distance from him for LGB Pierce ammo is just far enough away to avoid many of his attacks. Ruiner is another problem entirely, though...
I was using wiggler head for the memes during the Nergigante hunt.
IT WAS PAIN
The two primary ways to avoid Nergigante's dive bomb attack is to either superman dive or quickly put on the vitality mantle. A superman dive is performed by running away from the monster and then pushing the dodge button. This move has the most s in the entire game.
Ya Nerg in the Beta was a literal monster. It was rough.
Bro when you go back to Base-Nergi after fighting AT-Nergi.
Base-Nergi feels like slow motion
performing dive bomb can save you in many situations, hope it helps
i wanna see this guy react to a pro GS speedrun
Me farming runier nerg..... huh? He has a hitbox like that????.... proceeds to insect glave
The perfect build tester monster 😂
Blocking Nergi's dive
With GS
This is entire different breed of hunter we got here
Nergigante has one of the best monster roars in the game imo.
As someone who is also stuck on the Nergigante boss fight, this video is disturbingly accurate.
Nergigante is definitely my favorite monster in MHW. Perhaps even in the entire MH series. He's just so badass, he doesn't need any elemental attack BS just raw power and speed. Truly a spiky boi
"I block it."
"I don't recommend it."
"I just like testing my limits!"
Monster hunter is the new steak. Everyone is reacting to him playing, soon enough he will react to their reactions and the cicle will never ends.
Nergigante is an excellent fight.
imo nergigante is my favorite monster, and also the best, after beating him several times, id say it never got easy
This actually is a good point about him wanting to learn on his own, i think gathering all of the research should unlock like a beastiary that gives more info in the monsters right? Unless im mistaken i havent played MHW in years.
There is always one monster in every monster hunter games that hits different.
The fish, the tiger , monkey. 😅
You know that MH really got someone when they said "practice".
Hope he also reacts to Punk Dunk’s How to Monster Hunter World video too, it is so damn good
Funnily enough when asmon did Nergi he was in a more fixed state
Bro gnna love AT nergigante
Dude idc what anyone says, Kushala Doara is the worst. That wind shit makes it damn near impossible to hit him and you can only get good shots in on his head and front arms.
Normal Nergi is piss slow, wait until you see AT Nergi "Pepega slam"
I found it strange I beat Nergigante in my first attempt (I always play solo), when I saw everyone online struggling with it afterwards. It didn't feel too different from most monsters... stay out of the front, keep to the side, stay relatively close. You're unlikely to get hit.
2:18 asmon iirc actually got hit by this attack and he confused why he got hit as it was his first encounter with nergigante fight
Ez when you're a monster with insect glaive flipping all over it
At least he knows how the spike works now 😂
Cant wait to see him react to Alatreon and Fatalis lol.
I guess I was fortunate enough to experience the pain that boy caused right before Iceborne released. Then I made him my pet. Now one of my favorite monsters of all time and would not say no to him returning.
He was my Vegeta, I was his Goku.
He may be one of the biggest MF in history but you know what we still him.
Asmon, if you Negigante, just wait for Magnamalo in Rise
He is still playing the tutorial, when he gets to master rank... that's when the struggle start for new players.
I remember nergigante because I learned monster hunter while he was farming me lmao
Wait till he go against the temper version of him. Lol
Asmongold actually played the iceborn expansion where the monsters stop to be hitted and can be grabbed on for good.
Though Nargigante was though because he died twice. Wonder what a Monster Hunter Freedom Unite experience will feel like.
Read the Hunter journal!... The more tracks you collect it will fill out telling you these different mechanics.
This is actually a masterpiece 😂😂😂
I love fighting nergi
