Imagine logging onto your guild to prepare for your first hardcore raid, only to find out that your guildmaster spent all his 87 raid buffs on a 1 v 1 duel, with support from another player, and lost.
I would spit on his face ingame, and leave the guild.
@@Whillyy the resistance pot doesnt absorb any damage. He is using the lvl 28 frost resistance potion, and probably has used it many times to roll max amount absorption (2250) to prepare. This potion is also commonly used in naxx during trash and progress runs, also when you got the content on farm to save money.
Imagine trying to lecture people about pots not knowing shit. The definition of the players asmon talks about playing classic right here.

Now that I think about it, all the gold he used on those consumables and trinkets was probably from guildee dues. I bet he told them he was saving the dues for raid consumables and repairs.

As an update, Firestar did gain a lot of viewers and success from it. And some people finally understood the context, so he didn't lose anything in the end, debuff is almost finished too.

Ya frost mage gets mad cuz he doesn't insta win like the class should, and has to resort to cheese to live instead of dying like a man. Frost requires no skill. None. A ferret off the street could play it, and play it well. Stop praising people who play op classes to duel with and actually do what the game design allows. If anyone ever lost to any melee as a frost mage it just means ur trash. Big trash. Also I loved watching his 2 chars die in the arena. Actually realistic gameplay for once.

To be fair, mage in wow is one of the two most OP classes with unique abilities and ways of playing that are like 20-50% stronger than any other class. That, along with rogue.

Especially since both are not max level yet.
Mage is just one of the best classes early game against melee classes.

The two perspectives and the build up, just make it so perfect. Hells I didn't know who Ziqo is, but the first few minutes tells the full story. From there you can sit back and hold your breath to see how it's going to end.

A friend and I were doing 2v2 arena in Cata, I was a rogue and had the legendary daggers. I was a reasonably good player and raided with a hardcore guild. Anyway, we enter this arena and soon realise there is a druid, no partner, just sat there like he was AFK. I immediately though this will be a quick win and move on. This druid bear owned us, stunlocked me, killed my buddy in seconds and just went to town on me after. Never, underestimated another player ever again. Sub rogue with those daggers in PVP were pretty OP back then, but get cocky and OP means nothing.
The fact that he streamed it is just a cherry on top. Giving all of us a frontline view of what its like to get so epicly owned you will never be able to recover.
That's because he didn't do anything wrong, Ziqo couldn't win the duel so he had to flee the makgora by magic dusting a Paladin out of the makgora zone as a MAGE, he's a loser.

Are you guys so much of NPCs blindly following and trust what your your gourous say to the point you ignore what you SAW? Zyqo LOST. He effectively cheesed out and FLED the duel, because he ADMITTED he COULDN'T WIN.
Also, Firestar was the highest rated ret paladin in Cataclysm, a known Gladiator at the time and I think he's better than all of you NPCs combined.

@@LeorioSusano He got challenged and he accepted, Ziqo is a high skill player theres not that many people who would win as a melee vs a frost mage so no reason to really decline free content
As to "why" its because he's unaware of all buffs the opponent has since you couldn't check that in classic and obviously whatever resources he had in his backpack
@@LeorioSusano Ziqo is one of the best players in the game, he also does it for content so of course will duel. Ziqo had no way of seeing those insane buff before the duel started, Paladin is probably the first person to ever do that countless hours getting the mats to make the potions get the buffs set up a situation where it was impossible to lose all on a mid level char.... that he ended up losing anyway is perhaps the greatest fail in pvp WoW history. All that prep work weeks worth and to just get outplayed out thought out IQed, I have not played wow in near 16 years the level of pathetic the paladin displayed cannot be described.

Asmon reacting is the worst thing that could happen on it all if you don't care about getting views and viewers. Lot of harassment from 2IQ fans, even in the guild. Insults, people going full racist and hate speech, it can even be viewed in the comment section. It's not as bad as in the beginning, but we still get idiots harassing from time to time in game.
Thankfully Firestar and the guild actually recovered well and went even further from this situation.

Considering Firestar is the only one who reached 60 in HC on a PvP realm, Firemaw, I would say it's not true, though he did prepare a lot for Makgoras, as anyone who plans to do so should. It's a clownish mistake to come unprepared to a duel that seals the fate of your hard earned character in this game.

I remember playing as a priest and an enemy paladin was attacking Thunder Bluff. I could see all of his buffs and dispelled them. He came back, and I dispelled them again. He never saw it coming.
Make the French paladin a follower in Retail. Make the AI highly aggressive against mages.

@@p0ntess you need to stay out of bounds for a few seconds for it to trigger and he would go out and in of bounds before the timer ran out while putting him to sleep made him stay outside for the necessary time
All the buffs in the world wont stop a pro mage/rogue from endlessly resetting a pally in vanilla, epic ending

He wouldn't have cared, Ziqo CHOSE to accept the makgora KNOWING. Yet when he couldn't win, he chose the coward way to magic dust out of duel. Dude had to cheese a makgora before by leveling up during one.

@@Carpatouille look better, he didn't know about the rows of buffs, since Alliance/Horde don't see buffs of each other when they aren't hostile (aka when they are outside of combat)
You can see it when Ziqo show his own POV; before the duel, he targets the Paladin, and there's no buff shown, and later during the duel, when he goes out of battle (to drink to regen his mana) the buffs also disappear

Duel is not a bait at all. He challenges ppl, and if they accept, they also accept the risks of facing someone way stronger that them.
And as for that guy, he's not mocked because he was overprepared, sure he spent countless ressources, got every single buff in the game, got every useful items, spec'd for Ziqo in particular, basically made sure to leave no single chance to Ziqo, and still lost, but if that was just it, he wouldn't have been mocked, ppl would've just praised Ziqo and move on.

This may be a hot take, but all I see is a man who really lives the sentence: "If you take a shot at the king, don't miss." He knew his target was a Rank 1 Glad who loves killing people in Mak'gora... so he decided he's going to make him regret his life choices... and so he spent more time prepping for this than Batman would to fight Superman. He then got help to scout and bait a perfect trap and Ziqo fell into it hook, line and sinker. Insane props to Ziqo, of course, as he proved to everyone why he's #1 because he found a way to win in a borderline unwinnable situation. All in all, amazing PvP event happened - one for the ages - and it took both sides to make it happen
EDIT: Just saw to the end where the dude asked his guild to mass report Ziqo. N/M, he's a little whiny bitch boy - can respect the way this all went down, but should have taken his L like a man.
I agree, great prep from the pala, even greater gameplay from Ziqo.
Also, Blizzard answered Firestar's ticket, and confirmed it indeed is a bug, and that they planned to fix it as they overseen magic dust CC for the rule of not being able to get CC'd out of a Makgora like he was. People misinterpretation because of Asmongold's retardation in this case is probably why they didn't remove the buff, even though Blizzard pretended they couldn't remove it. But the debuff is almost over, and the guild is going stronger than ever.
Personal opinion, Zyqo is the one who should have taken the L like a man as you say. Dude admitted himself he couldn't win, so in a duel to the death, he either deserved death or coward debuff, especially as a mage playing against as paladin, and challenging Makgora unprepared.
@@Carpatouille firestar is a pathetic weasel and so is anyone in his guild if they watched this incident. He cheated and 100% deserved the coward debuff.

@@lswallie Blind on one eye (glas eye) then on my remaining eye I had to do surgery to save eyesight, but after that I get pain in eye while playing anything that has lots of effects or movement, so basically all 3d games are off limits for me nowadays. I adapt lol it just is abit sad I can't play all the games I want anymore, but could always be worse (^_^)

He's live right now and pulled up a GM response that says the debuff shouldn't have been applied under these circumstances (the sleep dust) and it'a known bug, however they are unable to remove it :D
