Not really. I'd say it's just as good or even better that he's doing it just now because it's generating interest again and might even bring in new hunters in an otherwise old game. In turn, some old hunters might come back to play it again. The cycle continues.

I got friends who weren't into games before into them by starting them off with a game I think they'll like.
One friend just last year I had play red dead redemption 1. Another into path of exile cause she couldn't afford diablo. I have friends who hadn't played assassin's creed before. So I had them try out black flag. An ex from Sweden saw me play unity and after a while asked to try it and loved just doing parkour and not killing a single person 😂

@Zharina yeah it drew my interest and tried it but sadly I really don't like it, don't care for the story or the combat style or the gear. The only okay thing I liked was the long sword and even that was only slightly enjoyable

The feeling you get doing your great sword combo at the same time with your homie is unmatched
I met 2 of my closest gaming friends that way.
We synced our combo against The Golden Sheep Dragon, without ever talking to one another, and we partied up afterwards to continue farming.

Two days ago me and a friend were fighting Narwa in Rise and we did that move where you run through the entire monster's body spínning with the dual blades, but we did it three times in a row, perfectly synched, and it was COMPLETELY accidental lol, we lmao'd

I played lance on ps2 because 13-14 year old me just thought the idea of a lance and shield was sooooo cool. Then added a shotgun later with gunlance.

i don't know about pc but world constantly has new people coming in on psn. people rely on the cat vigorwasp way too much, i'm sick of being a healer lol
Honestly as someone who experienced launch on ps4, returning now to the PC version feels the same as then. There are so many hunts going on all the way up to MR it's great. So many people have come back to the game or are trying it for the first time on PC because it is only 20 dollars for full dlc.
Luckily lots of ppl still play and many are coming back to world even bee players!

@@godblesstheinternet yes please watch out for the "Defender" weapons and the "Guardian" Armor. It's like having god mode on, takes the fun out of the game.
@@godblesstheinternet get icebourn, it makes vanilla MH world kinda seem like a tutorial when you compare the base game's monsters/ difficulty to Icebourn's. Easily 150+ hours (if you farm/grind a lot) for the $20 price tag.

I love dual blades. They were kinda meh in the old games... but now it feels like you are Levi from AoT spin slashing monsters front to back.
I think the epicness of the T3 warrior art style is hard to seperate from its place in the game as something that was truly rare and representative of great achievement. It was cool because back then, there was a much stronger correlation between the epicness of the player and the epicness of the pixels. I think that sense of meaning kind of stuck around for anyone looking at that set today who was there at the time.
World Iceborne is one of my fav game of all time but Rise Sunbreak is hella fun, the build and gameplay variety is just insane
I totally understand why most people prefer to go back to world in 2024 especially if you play it again with friend but Sunbreak end game is just too much fun that I still grind on it regularly. Yes the environment looks like PS2 games but the fast paced and counter based combat is just everything I've ever wanted in an action game
i am replaying iceborne right now with a ccomplete overhaul mod with my friends, new character and everything. its so much fun.

I love the mechanics of rise much more than world tbh, world is better in graphics and details, I wish the up coming mh wild has both of advantages
Of course the graphics look like it's from a PS2 game, the game was originally a Nintendo Switch exclusive, before they ported (not remake) over to PC. As to why it was Nintendo Switch exclusive is because Monster Hunter got that Handheld console exclusive for that whole "play with your friends" mentality the japanese have other there, also the fact Monster Hunter goes way back before the internet was even a major thing.
It's important to know, so that people realize the importance that Monster Hunter World had to attract newcomers, but the old should never be forgotten. I recommend people to check the older titles, and to give them a try if they can find a way (emulators).

For warning people who want to play the old games in multiplayer. They do not tell you which mission is one that progresses the story and if you do complete it, it only is for the host.
Using Kiranico + Athena's ASS is a must have for old world hunting.
Though you can actually just search the key quest in the internet if you want.
Its mostly just huntingquest of newly introduced monster.
Not necessarily true. Urgent Quests only count for the host, but the standard and key quests are shared by everyone.
Nah the key quests work for everyone who joins, it’s the urgent quests people have to repeat for each party member.
They don't tell you yes, but its only urgent quests that doesn't complete for everyone. And the old games are TOTTALLY FINE TO PLAY NORMALLY, the one simple rule apply... Do the mission to Hunt a large monster, if you didn't got the urgent, try the other missions.
Simple as that. Most key missions in old monhuns were to hunt a large monster, with the exception being in the first rank of the game, which mostly won't have large monsters...

Asmon definitely made me buy MHW on PC watching him play. I had it on PS4 and it’s been years since I played but I’m totally hooked into it again

my very first monster hunter was the iOS port and it was sooooo good, so many people actually played it esp on SEA and JP servers the title was Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, it was actually a really good port it was the full game with updated stuff, the controls were responsive the servers connection didnt have any lag. i was so surprised why capcom removed it in the ios appstore
it sadly didn‘t survive the transition to 64bit ios
i still got it in my purchased apps and if i install it it dosn’t start :(

I got back into MHW after seeing all the hype coming back to the franchise and I gave ranged weapons a try for the first time. I've been having so much fun with the bow. Watching Asmongold play through has been a blast 🎉
I came here after ragegamings video, just giving a fellow great sword main a tip, using sleep element is excellent for setting up barrel bomb + true charge slash combos. But that’s just a personal preference for me, there are many different sets to maximize efficiency! Good luck on your monster hunter journey!
Monster hunter rise has amazing combat, hope you enjoy it. I’ll probably play monster hunter world after having played rise for so long
Rise was made by a different team than world and was almost at the same time. It's considered the same generation as World. So it does some things better than world but also doesn't have that lived in world feeling that world obviously has in spades. It's also the Monster Hunter portable of the Gen and on switch initially. It was gonna be smaller just by proxy.
Rise is unga bunga lets kill thw monsters and have a good time. the combat is so cool and fast paced I appriciate it in a way andI do hope they port the poster boy magnamalo or even the two elders in future games because they're interesting even though they all leaan more into the mythological aspect of the game.

I remember hearing about Asmon when he was just starting to do more variety content, and just never really paying too much attention before or after that, but hearing him talk about gameplay over graphics is basically my favourite take I've heard so far. Gameplay is, at the end of the day the only thing keeping me coming back to a game. Doesn't matter if the graphics are bad, or the story's bad, I play it because it's _fun_ to play. Bad gameplay can work only if there is a phenomenal story behind it, and that's still only really good once. I'd never play it again after, there would be no replay-ability there.
MHW is one of those games where it was both gorgeous _and_ insanely fun, and while the story wasn't amazing I still enjoyed it for while it lasted. I've sunk hundreds of hours into it now between two different systems, and I can't wait to see what Wilds has to offer!
I feel there is a certain minimum for graphics, but it's a know it when you see it sort of thing.
Bad graphics totally can interfere with otherwise amazing gameplay, but usually it wont.
I never thought id see the day where asmon played my all time favorite video game, i dont know why, but it makes me smile.

you can cancel alot of attacks against you by rolling slightly to the side or doing an attack right as the attack is about to hit you. love doing that.
That monster figura is Zinogre. You can find it in Monster Hunter World Iceborne expansion. Plus another variant of Zinogre in the Guiding Lands.
There is a reason why this Capcom’s best selling game ever. World was magnificent and I can’t wait to play Wilds.

I just started playing again and finally got to Iceborne using only SA. Decided to try out now yesterday and I'm having a lot of fun with it! Can't wait to see Asmond try a different weapon.
I have 180 hours on that game, and only recently i bought iceborne dlc, for a long time i was just farming whichever monster felt cooler just for fun instead focusing on the game, i didnt even know that the game forced me to be stuck at a certain level until i complete some of the story quests, i feel like it would kinda piss me off if it happen on any other game but not in monster hunter world, i loved farming because it was my decision to do it, i enjoyed the fights and exploring different fights, answering random SOS and such
im also far from finishing the game or having unique builds, usually i just go with the coolest gear i can find and only make better ones when i struggle. also important thing to add it that i been taking HUGE breaks in between but the game has a special place in my heart
nothing beats the feeling of seeing someone pulls a sick move on youtube or / coop with a weapon u never tried which makes u wanna finish the fight and go try it too

I'm excited to hear Asmon is gonna play MHRise and hopefully Sunbreak. Honestly, most of the reason why that game gets hate is because it's not World.
Actually no, most of the steam reviews is because is boring, just that. The new combat is great, introducing new combos that u can switch is a great idea and i hops they use it on wilds cause it wpuld be awesome but the wirebug is too op and the monsters look like they got nerfed. I dont care about the graphics and UI as a lot of people does cause i have played the old games and is the same and i like it but i doesnt look like u r a hunter but a god who is slaying a bug. Also the storyline feels a bit behind comparing to world, making it more worth it to jjst speedrun the game and finish it. I still liked it a lot cause of the fast pace and dinamic and fast combats but the hate it gets is reasonable, more if u came from world and iceborne
I love it that they are so different from each other. Sunbreak focus is on fights in small maps. Then its clutch claw vs silkbind. its all preference tbh.
I feel I am in the minority, where my favorite monster was Gore Magala from MH4. Idk why but I loved his Frenzy Virus mechanic. Was also cool since he was on the 3ds playing against him in 3D. Was so glad when they put him in sunbreak.

Watching Asmon MH World playthrough pushed me to try MH series again xD, the first monster hunter that I've played was Freedom Unite (played it through emulator too lmao) and now enjoying MH World Iceborne (30 hrs in )
hopefully you give a try to old monhun again after your journey in world, the third and fourth generations were really good times.
@@TGHunter i don't really see the point in going back in MH, all the movesets are basically the same, they add or replace 1 thing per game, the vast difference is only monsters, levels and the pace, i didn't find going back a few years ago gratifying at all, it's basically the same game just worse in almost every aspect.

I love how they call Deviljho "the pickle" and pickle is Pepinillo in Spanish. Now I just call him Devilillo or tiny demon when he shows up
One of my favorite things about the way MHW does its online play. When you go to the SOS you know people want help. Thats the whole point of a SOS in real life. So when I go there I know these people need or want help. I get excited as a hunting horn main to help the best I can.
i hope that you try all weapon in the training area offscreen and see how they work, they all are fun to play, personally i love double sword and the hammer. I tried to play with the great sword but all can say the same for me: "skill issue" T-T. the best monster for me is gore magala and the variant. for Rise i think that you can't compare because this game and world are made by different team, they both are good, but i love how "alive" world feel like when you walk in each area.

I'm no speedrunner but playing MHW online and suddenly doing perfect synchro attack move with your mate is an amazing feeling!

i really hope asmon tries some of the older games. I'm currently playing through Freedom Unite again, and it's so much fun. (with heavy speed-up abuse for gathering)
The older games have a much more scrappy and hit-and-run style of gameplay, and the controls may be stiff, but because of that, they really reward precision, timing, and knowing all of your moves.
I hope Asmon keeps discovering more MH CZcamsrs & the great contents they make ... I'm so happy he already discovered NCH Productions and TDS 😃!! I hope he discovers GS god Aris MH and LS god Peppo next 😊
all the weapons in this game are kinda fun tho, maybe not for everyone but defenitely worth trying them out
Chargeblade deal insane damage, but its the hardest to master, i wish Asmon will try it
It's not the strongest but its for sure the hardest
Switchaxe is the hardest to master imo. It has gunlance levels of animation locks with almost no proper defensive options. CB is hardest to learn because it has a lot of valuable moveset but it just comes down to memorization but overall it has a very well rounded kit.
Cb is hard to learn (complex) but its pretty simple after you understand its moves and gameplan. SA is by far the hardest weapon to actually play though because of its complete lack of defensive or evasive options
@@tfk2328 Yes, Switchaxe as well is also hard to master, but the chargeblade hit imo is so satisfying when you pull it off, it just feels so good
@@tfk2328 u just need to equip evade window on it like on most weapons without shield. + it gets super braindead in endgame cause u can abuse rocksteady+hp aug and temporal mantle.(tool specialist lv5 with fatalis set) u attach to weakspots and go afk. its also considered as one of the best cheese weapons for fatalis cause of that playstyle
Sunbreak makes rise worth playing imo. Sunbreak is very good.
I absolutely love your opinion about games and how the gameplay comes first, that's very relatable to me. I actually do enjoy the lower pixel graphics quite a lot though, and I've been practically rolling my eyes at a lot of the new games having absurdly high graphics when that literally doesn't do anything for me except make it too hard to run for no good reason! Give me games with Barony level graphics! 😂

I loved LS. I'm enjoying GS and so far I find GS also easier than LS.
The sheer amount of W's Capcom has had over the past years, it's incredible. They're one of the only companies is still have full faith in delivering quality games.

Which is funny cuz before RE7 eveybody made fun of Capcom for being a bad company
they botched street fighter 5 and dmc a bit, but they're pretty consistent yeah.
They have some flops but nothing really devastating Capcom is still upthere for me
in my personal experience, impact sword and shield is the best if you use your combo properly, but thats also just preference. Game is pretty balanced. In multplayer especially hunting horns can be ridiculously overpowered. Actually longsword tends to have problems in multiplayer. These guys are completely in sync so its not a problem for them but what happened a lot for me is, a monster is down so i decide ti set up a greatsword charge combo to go ape on the head. But some longsword user is going to swing around willy nilly and stagger me out of all my moves.
TDS and rage gaming high great sword damage videos are a must watch
as an indie game dev myself, another note why you kinda can't compare World and Rise in terms of graphics:
Rise was mainly developed for the Switch console first then got ported to other platforms, if it would be the other way around, then the graphics in Rise would be the same like in World, but then there would be no a Switch port due to performance issues very likely

Rise was developed with Switch in mind and due to the consoles lack of power, the visuals and the environment had to be dialled back somewhat. Also Rise started development near the end of World's development and was made by the beta team. I'd say Rise is the more difficult game of the two and while rather visually and mechanically different than world, it's still fun and worth playing.
Yeah that do be how it is, my friend and i have spent afternoons farming a single elder (nergigante and velkhana) both times by the end it was just straight bullying

Monster hunter rise is pure combat fun action. Monster hunter world has great immersion and diverse game mechanics related to hunting and tracking. If they made a game with worlds tracking and graphics with rises gameplay i think it would be a good combo.

Should watch a good best of bow build videos. So much skill needed with the bow
the big thing is you kinda need different bow builds (elements) which is vry hard & tedious to build if you just start. melee weapons dont need them as much, you make 1 build and be good with it.

Rise is more of a monster fighting game than a monster hunting game
LS is great, it was the weapon I used back when I first played mhw. Perfect counter is ultra rewarding.

In Monster Hunter, every weapon is a new game IMO, the mechanism is so unique ;)
LS is the easiest and most powerful weapon to use in just about every MH game. World is no exception. It has a high skill ceiling, but it is incredibly simple to learn.
The second half of your comment is dead on though. Each weapon is a different fighting game character.

@@Michael-bn1oiLS is all about reaction + planning. You need to have good pacing and not button mash. But it is simple enough that you could start off button mashing and be somewhat okay.
@@matasa7463 You can easily make it to the credits after Xeno without ever doing more than button mashing. Like I said, it has an extremely high skill ceiling but it is *incredibly* strong and very very easy to learn.

Honestly I want to see Asmon try out the other weapon types just a little bit. Arin of Game Grumps made a good point on how we wind up with thousands of hours in Monster Hunter games: each weapon plays so differently that it feels like a different game.

so about other developers making games like monster hunter, Monster hunter was the largest game series in japan during the psp generation, because of this you had developers like Sega and Bandai implementing the gameplay into Valkyria chronicles and creating God Eater respectively. God Eater went on to have three entries and valkyria chronicles would drop the idea and general experimentation, returning to its original gamepay with VC 4.

Rise is worth playing just for the wire bug mobility and the new moves for the weapons, they are so fun to play around with.
Monster Hunter World (iceborne) is one of those games where I will stop playing for a bit, then something, a video, a thought, a memory I have, and love will bring me back to playing it again, and I think that's something so incredibly special, and a true testament to the effect the game has had, it's just awesome.
God Eater is a pretty good "monster hunter type" game, it's basically monster hunter but it's set in the code vein universe on the other side of the fog
Long sword has stages. Once you hit a monster to a degree the weapon automatically grows stronger. Think if it like a passive.
How sharp the weapon is it also add the to damage and the most important factor is the gear.
I personally like dual blades, dual blades at the start will only do like 8 to 10 dmg per slash
end game that is like 300 per slash. and for long sword is 10k per crit.
but take note, long sword and great sword are slow but high damage.
meanwhile dual blades are the fastest in slash and player movement.
if you are able to do like 20 slash lets say per 4-5sec
you do 6k damage. dual blades are low dmg hitters but when you realise
you hit 100s of times per minute you deal crazy amount of damage.
You need to try the 14 weapons. My favorite are long sword and switch axe
Monster Hunter has never been about graphics; it has always been about the love we have for the franchise's gameplay, weapons, core mechanics, villages, NPCs, music, and especially the monsters. Before Monster Hunter World, the most fluid experience we had was with Generations, and even with the graphics of a handheld console, that game is still amazing, and I would play it again today. I love World and Rise currently because both are Monster Hunter, but they approach things differently, and I appreciate the way each one plays.
The graphics of Rise being the way they are after World, to me, is not a problem; I consider it a love letter from the B team to the old Monster Hunter fans. Like, we can create beautiful graphics like in World, but Monster Hunter can be great in this style too, like Rise. Because, again, it has never been about the graphics. And let's be honest, Rise is like this because the primary team is working on the best Monster Hunter that will exist, Wilds. Good Hunting. I'm happy that my favorite game is getting the attention it deserves.
