People who complained about the CGI have never watched how fucked up some CGI are in some animes. Chainsaw man was movie quality every fucking episode.

Personally, I've read the manga and absolutely thought the anime lived up to my dreams and hype. People asking for it to be the same are insane because it adapts so much better by working as an animation rather than trying play the manga pages in a slide show. Whatever the case, I'm just happy people liked it because it means I'll get more season to watch.

The anime is absolutely an amazing adaptation that adds exclusive scenes to flesh out certain parts in a great way, I love the anime.
But the caveat to this is that while the anime is great the medium can't really capture the amazing art and paneling that fujimoto is able to put on a page. He's taken the Manga industry by storm and for good reason. His ability to depict subtle emotion using frame by frame like panels and small movements to really sell the slower more intimate scene in a way few other authors have done it manga.
I still prefer the Manga because I adore fujimotos style as a mangaka but that's not saying the anime didn't slap.

Fujimoto's a modern-age manga deity. It's almost impossible to truly match someone who can do what he does.

Seriously, if you are mildly curious about weeb stuff as an outsiders but dont want to watch anime or manga Gigguk is good as a starting point.
He talks from a place of passion while having enough self awareness of how the culture looks to an outsider.
I started watching Gigguk back in 2012 after having watched my first anime, and have continued to watch every one of his videos since. I trust his opinion and watch everything he reccomends, but also I find him hillarious, every one of his videos is a delight. His podcast, Trash Taste is also great

That Aki breakfast scene just floored me. I was literally speechless, and I was just watching a dude making V60 coffee and reading the newspaper on the balcony (in an anime with fuckin' chainsaw demons in it).
But those Japanese and Chinese manga readers are so powerful. They acted like a hive mind (collectivist society ngl) and cancelled the director of the first season who pursuing cinematography in his adaptation and the production committee replaced the season 1 director with another director to make season 2 cuz the BD sales in Japan also bombed
The hotel scene reminds me of my dnd party at times. Someone freaking out, someone sleeping, someone trying to murder, 2 people trying to calm down, and no one trying to solve the problem.
Gigguk's videos are always top tier! Would be cool to see Asmon show up as a guest on their podcast Trash Taste! Also, I hope Asmon got around to watching Overlord!

It absolutely met the expectations. The anime is absolutely amazing.
3:40 I have worked in a food factory in Japan. The reason why they do not have to rely so much on chemicals seems to be hinted at by the strict temperature control, sterile rooms, and physical condition control. There are also unannounced bacteria inspections from the health department. If someone catches a cold or injures their fingertips, they are removed from the food handling area and work in another department until their condition improves. Anyway, in the Japanese food factories where I worked, temperature control, germ control, and physical condition control were strict. In this way, I think Japanese food companies are able to avoid relying too much on chemical products. The work was hard, but it was a good personal experience.
I know Asmongold hates flying and probably wouldn't travel to Japan to be on Trash Taste but hopefully in the future when the boys are in America again, they can get Asmon on as a guest.

i am very glad i paused this, watched the series and came back. I am not what one would call an anime enjoyer, but chainsaw man was incredibly enjoyable. it struck such a good balance between not being too serious while also not just being completely off the rails in a way that it's disconnected from whatever reality it's trying to portray. internal consistency is key, while maintaining something fun to watch. at least an 8/10 in my books so far.
I read the manga first, then drill into my skull to forget I read it, watch the show, then drill into my skull again, then read the latest chapter just to switch it up, then drill, and so on. Best way to always be on top, but also always be surprised. 10/10 would drill into my skull just to delete my memories of this show so I can watch it again fresh, which I've already done more than once and I'll probably do again.
This show can def b taken seriously and equally enjoyable it’s actually quite deep
I love it when they talk in the video about quirky characters and Ed's theme from Cowboy Bebop id playing in the background.

My opinion on dubs is that it best fits the theme. Like I would watch Vinland Saga in dub while KnY with sub. If its Western or European based... heck I even watched violet evergarden in french and it felt right.

Loved chainsaw man so much. Favorite anime of the year. I don't even think the show is genuinely immature and horny for the sake of it. Seems to me they're playing the long game, trying to tell a story of people who've had their chance at a regular life stripped away learning what it even means for them to be human. The scene where it flashes back to Denji at his lowest saying that eating vomit was below even him right after *the scene* hit so hard and I think it hints at more character depth to come, along with some horrifying realizations for him.
Beautifully said, As someone who has read the manga. I think you will truly understand why this manga is so hyped about besides the crazy story everyone is about to see when the next seasons are released. Keep that energy and you will love this show even more :)

I thought it was pretty good. I read the manga before the anime came out. I was going to critique the show base on how well the studio was able to implement the scenes because the manga has a very detailed art style. I know how much a anime adaption count on its production costs, but the studio nailed it.

@Asmond, I watched this one with subtitles and again (later with some friends) in dub, and I have to say, I actually preferred it in dub... The blood fiends lines in particular. This and edgerunners have been the only two dub's I've watched in the last few years and they've really heightened my respect for English dub... enough that it makes me question (a little) what to watch in for new series with both available LOL.

I watched the Anime first. When I got to the Himeno parts in the Manga I could feel a heaviness in my chest. So many fantastic characters to love.

One thing I like best in CSM is the character development. It was very well done even though this is quite a fast-moving anime. The speeches were well written as well that sometimes makes you think about them A Lot. I personally love many hilariously childish quotes from Super Smart operation and some inspiring quotes from Aki who I thought was gonna be another boring edgy lord Sasuke but No
The person telling us about the anime straight up says there is no character development... they start the same and end the same... do you think introducing a character is development? How deprived of actual story telling are you all? Go read a novel and reacquaint yourself with actual good writing.
Actually there's a second movie based off a chuck palahniuk book and it's called Choking. It's prose and humor are familiar throughout BB it it's not the same as the fight club movie compared to the book.
I can see a lot of tarantinos work inspired this, especially the crew looking like reservoir dogs crew

btw, nice react, both the review here and the react were spot on. English dub vs sub war has been going on since the dawn of time. I will respectfully say here though, back in the 80's and 90's there was a good argument for it because of horrid dub acting but now days its pretty rare unless its a low budget anime. (even then its still debatable because even most low budget anime get decent dubbing) Personally I like to consume my anime entertainment in my primary language (english).

It's funny how people talk about chainsaw man is crazy, grotesque, with good characters on super cool level like it first ever like that and forget about Berserk. If think about that, ever Guts and Denji are very similar. It's great that in modern time manga like chainsaw man is created, just not my match.
