I love the wsm, flat out it's one of the best rimfire rifles I have. I've made shots out to 700 yards on a calm day with a 1.5 inch group. I really like this savage rifle. ❤
I have the exact same rifle, and it shoots like a laser! I added a larger Glades stainless bolt handle to mine, and epoxy bedded the action - and first 3 round group after bedding was .070" at 83 yards, unbelievable. I use it for shooting sage rats in Central Oregon. I do have a 17 Hornet now too, and just got a 20 VarTarg, because I like to reload. However, the 17 WSM B-mag is a wonderful rifle, and the first I shoot when I get to a field. Ammo is difficult to find, but I got 5 boxes at local gun show recently. Thanks for the review and for promoting the 17 WSM, excellent combo!

I have the same combo. I agree 100 percent. Ammunition availability is about the same here in the US. I'm looking forward to Savage releasing their A17 semiautomatic in .17WSM as well.
I agree. Great round, zero recoil and great ballasts. Like all small rounds if shooting in wind you need to practice in wind using modern technology. I hope the continue manufacturing the ammo. Difficult to find 25gr ammo in the states.
Hi Yes it is a definitely a great round, we don’t see much, well hardly anything that round in the UK. Many people don’t even know it’s exists in the Uk.
When it was introduced here in the colonies I was really hyped. I read about accuracy problems. Haven't seen a left handed rifle (Ever) and have only seen ammunition once. Stuck with my m77 in 204.
Intriguing cartridge. I'm a big rimfire fan - but - as a hand-loader, if I want more than 22 WMR or 17 HMR, I'm going to step into the .22 centerfires. Scarcity of ammo is another factor. Interesting video!
Hi what interested me more, the price of 50 cartridges which were far cheaper than centrefire, and also if you were doing your own reloading which I do for my 223. I’m a tight Welshman, my wife says, she needs crowbar to get into my wallet.
I can’t fault it, I don’t clean the barrel, only when I’ve used around like 200, 300 rounds, I clean the working parts, and every time I shoot, it works a treat

Great Mike! I just practiced with the bolt sliding it back and forth and put a couple dabs of gun oil to smooth out the action. I also replaced the scope mounts that came with rifle with a Picatinny Rail it is more secure and puts the scope up a bit so the bolt doesn't hit the scope. Some people also got higher scope rings. I didn't use medium rings. Hope that helps!
I think at the time I was looking on the price of the round, I didn’t foresee that we would have a problem on the availability of the 17 WSM but that’s the case now. I have been looking at the 17 hornet I haven’t tried it and I might give it a go, if I can reload it that would make the availability even better. Real dirty after 20 rds I mean dirty BUT this rimfire will drop most varmints in northern PA. Have 2 bmags and 2 ruger 7717 they put hole through a dime at 130 yds they are shooters

The bolt is really really crap. They really need to redesign the bolt. There is nothing wrong at all with cock close bolts. The M36 Mauser uses this and it's a great action. The Bmag bolt however can be short cycled and this unfortunately really makes it a bad design. The magazine also has issues. So unless the bolt is totally redesigned and different to the original id stay away from it and look for a better action in the same round if this is the round you like.
Hi I should be looking at doing a range day in the next two weeks and we can see how it groups. I think the 17 HMR can be a slight more accurate than the WSM but when you shooting rabbits or foxes it doesn’t matter, it’s all about it in power.
At the moment in the UK there is none, I was lucky I stacked up I’ve only got about three or four boxes left. I’ve spoken to my local gun shop the orders in it’s been about a year now. Hopefully they said it will be coming in the next month or two, then

The early models were a thin barrel and a lousy stock. They changed it to a heavy barrel and laminate stock which has made all the difference.

Hi mate thank you for your kind comments. The scope I use is the ATN 4K pro, But any scope will do.
Mike you need to from Glades Amory the replacement bolt handle it's longer. It is a big improvement a lot smoother to load and eject . . .

It’s one for the B mag Savage, which they produce. I got it from my local gun shop.

Got mine from EGW. Rail even etched with SAVAGE at ejection port. Optics are BSA "Super 17". Seems to work quite well.

Need to see some groups ?from what I've seen and how my buddy's shoots I stick to hmr 400 fps slower but 5 times as accurate imo.
