I’ve never understood this, but if they whisper that they are sorry to someone immediately before they kill them, and Danys was the first mark they failed to kill: then how does everyone know what they say or even that they say anything? The fact that they apologize should immediately die with the victim shouldn’t it? 1:54

The Face thing on the Mantikor could be an homage to the "original" mantikors. Mantikors originate from persian mythology, mantikor comes from persian "mardkhor", which means man-eater. Originally they are described as having the body of a lion, the venomous tail of a scorpion and - the face of a man, which they use to lure humans into traps, where they then eat them
