- This is what nobody tells you about solo motorbike travel. It's the start of a new journey, but instead of adventure and excitement it's stress, loneliness, and homesickness...and Italian drivers. This is the other side of life on the road, the one less suited to Instagram and CZcams... oops. Join me for a bumpy start to a new series, The World Through the Visor, as we spin down the boot of Italy on this gorgeous BMW R1150GS. Oh, and look at a few stones of course. You know me...

Thanks for watching, and see you one the road!
Ferdia.
Your use of music as it relates to the film, "Spartacus" was masterful. Your feelings of loneliness and homesickness are understandable and relatable. While unpleasant, these experiences can help sharpen your character and deepen your wisdom. I've never seen a Greek temple. I don't know if I ever will. "It's just a pile of rocks." Humans endeavor to build things out of piles of rocks, some things great and some things unremakable. All the while, as soon as the buiding of these things is complete, it is the nature of those rocks to seek becoming just a pile of rocks again. That is unless, there's a person or group of people who are willing to say to those rocks, 'Nope, not gonna happen ...at least not now." I like to hear the stories of those people. Thank you for taking us along for the ride! I have a deep appreciation for what you are doing with this channel.
I'm not at all surprised you picked up on the music, James 😜 I enjoyed reading your comment on the nature of piles of stones , I have to agree. Glad to hear you're enjoying it, I hope the knees on the mend!
@@unOrdinaryWorld Thank you, kind sir! My knee is getting stronger. I've been putting it through some nice and gruelling exercises. It had better be getting stronger. The left knee as well, gets to do the same exercises for good measure.
Wow Love this. Be safe out there 🙏❤️🙏
I really felt the stress with you there at the start, and the middle, and the end - driving in Italy is not for the faint of heart, fair play for keeping all the stressiest bits in the video, I tended not to film most of my riding through Italy as I felt constantly under pressure from all other drivers 😅 but, as you said, Italian people, very friendly! A shame about not seeing Pompeii up close but I'd have done the same 😂 Excited to see the next country!
You know the struggle! And probably even more so on the 500? 😬 The GS has a fair enough size to it, you can kinda hold your ground against smaller cars anyways, but I'd say it feels pretty nerve wrecking on the RE... I'd rather not imagine taking on the Italians on my Bonnie 😅 and then as soon as they get out of their cars they're the friendliest of people! Mad! 😂😂 Glad you enjoyed! There's loads of gorgeous sites coming up anyways, Pompeii was very quickly forgotten about! 😉😈
Fabulous video, a real treat.
Thanks Jeremy, I'm glad you liked!
Ferdia, lord of bikes and adventures. I'm excited for you my friend! 🎉🎉🎉🎉❤
Ferdi.
Give over moaning about the Southern Italian traffic.
Next time down there keep these two thoughts in mind
1." Who dares wins"
2. A "Red Light" means proceed with caution.
Buon viaggio

I have never seen a Greek temple in my whole life before...truly a special moment in your life. Impressive and breathtaking at the same time, right? Thank you for sharing. I am so happy for you! Great job Ferdia! 😊👍
Exactly! It was a saving grace honestly after the previous two days riding 😬 without giving too much away, you'll be an expert in Greek temples by the end of this 🤭😏
We'll see...can't wait! 🤩😊
Ferdia, great video. Thanks for taking us places some of us would never get to go.
And thank you for joining me Dorothy! I'm so glad you're here, I hope you'll enjoy Greece!!
Hi Dorothy, like Ferdia said...Greece will be great...look forward to it! ☀️
What a clusterfuck of traffic and pedestrians there in that Neapolitan suburb. Love the way you have adapted in a truly Italian way to gesturing and cursing at the ijits on the road. The combination of small scale life with a backdrop of an artful pile of stones-- your composition and juxtapositions just fascinate me. Glad you regained some psychological equilibrium. Lesser folk would have packed it in. The loneliness and physical challenges are beyond my imagination. Be easy on yourself. You're self-employed so you have a demanding boss.
Thanks for this Molly, you get it 😌 We push through! Onwards! 🏍️💨
Ferdia, great start!! I am excited about seeing Greece. You have done an excellent job introducing this special journey. I like the title. Loved the blog. And today's trip through Italy. Just once I want to eat pizza to that soundtrack. 😜 I can tell you put a lot of thought into how to tell your story. Brilliant approach. Greece, here we come!!!! 😊❤
Oh, yeah, Joy. I think Ferdia needs to post a TikTok of that pizza eating vignettes. Its would go viral in 16 hours.
The pizzas were quite something.... Will see you tomorrow in a brand new country 😜
fair play ladd, felt your stress there, its a shame but it really puts me off biking in Italy again could'nt put up with that traffic shit....by the way just nosey, you have an Irish accent and Irish bike but take it your not originally from Ireland?,just curious....well done on the videos great job
Irish as far back as can be traced 😄
