  • A superstar of cities in the ancient world, this one can't be missed - the ruins of ancient Corinth. We ride around the Isthmus on the GS to see some iconic sites and talk about the history, places, and people who've passed this way before...

This is really a rather incredible work. When you relate the history of a given site while you are standing there in the here and now really drives it home.
I had a good feeling that there would be an unOridnaryWorld video waiting for me when I got home from the hospital. On Friday night at judo, we were doing a drill. One of my students changed direction an neither of us saw the other until it was too late. We slammed into each other at nearly wide open throttle. My left tibia was shattered at the top and driven out of the joint. When I was on the ground and was able to look at my leg, my first thought was, "That really doesn't look natural. Is that my leg?" On Monday morning, I had surgery and it was all put back together again with a nice little titanium plate and seven screws. I was sprung from hospital custody on Tuesday in the late afternoon but was in no shape to sit and watch anything on CZcams. This was the first thing that I wanted to watch when I felt like it. I had been looking forward to it.
You know, it's amazing me as to how much we take things in our lives for granted. Some of them may be seemingly little things. Thins like being able to walk on two legs. Then when one or more of those things is taken away or limited, it can really have an enormous impact on our lives. I'm going to feel that impact ofr 8 to 12 weeks as I will not be able to put any weight on my left leg. What can I say? I will survive. This too, will pass.
I just can't do judo again until September. Poor me, right? Lol! It could probably have been sooo much worse. I can't really complain.

It can all change in an instant 😪 But I'm glad to hear you'll be ok, even if you're in for a rough few weeks. I'll be thinking of you...plenty of time to practice the sax now though? 😋 I'm glad you enjoyed the vid, I'll hopefully have a few more to help you pass a bit of the healing time! Look after yourself 🤞🏽🤞🏽🤞🏽

@@unOrdinaryWorldThank you, kind sir! It's all about taking baby steps ...on one leg for now but, baby steps. They'll all add up over time. I mean, look at me. I'm already starting day 4 of 180 as Friday morning gets ready to dawn, here. I have to solve some technical issues in order to play the saxophone like, how to carry it. Maybe I can get a helper with it. I am eagerly looking forward to your next video!

Hola Ferdia! Another great and interesting video. I have traveled throughout the years in the US and our historical places are relatively recent compared to Greece. I love the ancient sites that you have shown throughout your videos. My imagination fantasized about the people and structures built so many years ago. They were just like us without the modern technology. I sometimes wonder about our current technology. Who was better off? How does one define better off? I enjoyed your conversation about religion. I too grew up as a Catholic. I am now a Pantheist. I can go on and on . I just want to thank you for another wonderful video. I love the opportunity to see things I probably will never see otherwise. I learn something new with each of your videos. Your videos are a catalyst to make me think and re-examine things. Muchos Gracias Ferdia!

Thank you for this Bill! It's one of the great privileges of my life so far to find myself in a position not just to do this, but to share it with people too, this brings me a lot of satisfaction and fulfilment, so I'm always happy to hear when you've enjoyed the end product! Thanks for traveling along with me all these years, hopefully lots of the world yet to discover together!

@unOrdinaryWorld I have a stay in Sligo in mind as a part of my trip. I have done a little research into cost. Sligo is definitely affordable. The tombs interest me. I think Christmas 2030 is my best guess time wise. A month in Europe is my goal. Time will tell.

Ferdia, now we have brought the Bible into your history. Very enlightening!! I agree there is a similarity among all religions. Why do humans focus on the divisions and not the commonality? Always been, still is 😢😢. We have been in Greece so long, the first sight of a semi-truck on the road was a startling vision. I loved the imagery of the sped up camera at the end, like we were speeding through the centuries on our way to present day Athens. Very cool. 🥰

Great observations--the truck AND the camera effect.

Beautiful, informative as always. Your knowledge of ancient history is staggering.. I will need to watch this several more times to drink it all in.. Your observations about the religious man are so appropriate right now. The ancient conflict of religions is on full, demoralizing display right now and was, I think, when you filmed this.. .

You're amazing Ferdia, congratulations once again, I love to follow your adventures, you take me to places I've never been and you illuminate my mind about stories and facts I've never known.
