- It's finally happening... I ride my trusty old GS to Istanbul and brave the streets of Europe's largest city to get to the heart of this iconic Turkish metropolis. Oh, and experience some of the famous sights, for better and for worse... !!This is an off the cuff vlog in some pretty chaotic scenarios, so language warning!!

See you on the road!
From Canada Istanbul has always been my exotic destination I would love to ride. Enjoying it through you is a pleasure. Thank you for some background.
I'd happily go live there for 6 months! You could live a lifetime there and still have so much to discover... What's a place 😍
wooow that is so much money for museum/sightseeing entry, makes you nostalgic for Dublin's free museums to be sure. Happy to see you saw some cool stuff though and I am praying to the coffee gods that you may find plenty on your journey.
Better sacrifice a single coffee bean in my name too just to be sure 😝
Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god, what an amazing video. 😁 Istanbul is so interesting. I am always fascinated by your historical knowledge and passion for it. Thank you for sharing. Hope the GS is okay again! 🤞🥰
I might've been freaking out just a bit at the start... 😂
That's how it should be 😅👍
After such a jubilant beginning and your joy and awe of the ancient city the ticket rip-off and then bike problems were a downer, Hope you were able to relax, eat, get some sleep. Was excited to find this and enjoyed it very much.
The ups and downs of travel! Just gotta roll with it 😎❤️🏍️
Feel guilty for mentioning Hall effect sensor to you recently 😢 but think the starter could be the issue, the bike would still crank over just not spark with Hall gone. Think your starting fast idle cable hasn’t been working for a while and this might have put extra strain on the starter plus old age. Sometimes just removing the starter and giving it a good clean a grease can get it back working again but if not they aren’t that expensive and very quick and easy to swap out. Completely dead with a click sound points to bad starter, hope you get it sorted and the gs was good to breakdown so close to the hotel, she’s a friend 😂
Aye she hasn't left me stranded...yet! 😝
Enjoyed the vid. Completely agree with you on the admission prices for these cultural sites. Always happy to contribute but don't want to be ripped off.
For sure, glad I'm not the only one thinking this 😬✌🏽
Best of luck with the bike. Interested to see how it gets sorted. Unexpected costs when away always sting.
Gutted....My first thought early in the video was poor quality fuel. Pull the plugs and show us a pic. Theres a lot of GS owners here rooting for you.
Brilliant vlog. I Love learning about the History and you tell it so well. Thankfully your bike was easy to get back to the hotel. hopefully nothing too serious
Thanks Paul ☺️
The sea and old stones all this girl needs. What else is there?
Might be your hall sensor if not your starter..
Place your bets now 🤭😄
Hi, I have a BMW R1100R 1998. Soon after I bought it it went out during an evening ride but I could start it again to make it back home. I immediatly had a look at the hall effect sensor wiring insulation wich is known to crumble on these BMW models. It is usually not the hall effect sensor. My son who is elecrically inclined, soldered new wires to the old hall effect sensor which solved the problem. There are quite a view CZcams videos out there that show how to fix the issue. Or check out the GS-forums. I like yout videos by the way 👍Good luck.
I forgot to mention I got the bike in 2023.
