On the parallel folds, after a whole morning of trying, I found that: Be The parallelagram abcd where (clockwise): b&c are the base length d&a are the tab sides a+b=d+c The angle a-d, I'm gonna name P, is : Sin(P/2)=(√(b^2+c^2))/d+a (When the book is at a 90° angle)
The Parallel folds are explained in more detail in Tutorials 5 & 6.

n all the videos I'm working with card (160 gsm). If you make smaller pop-ups you can use paper - and if working bigger then you'll need sturdier card. The ideal is as thin as possible and as rigid as possible.

For waving mechanisms probably the simplest is explained in Tutorial 15 - tutorial 58 is quite easy too. Hope it works for you!

Itnjust boggles me how your mind works..i cant "get: this at all...> just cant think this way..im at the point i have to have at least one sucesss so im doing a template...and i will go back to my waving hand problem..
This is one of the more complicated constructions. It might be easiest to start with Tutorial 1 and then work through the early ones to get a good understanding of how they all work.

You don’t say how big the card dimensions are?
The lengths are not important - the angles are what creates the shape - all the angles are clearly explained.

Love this idea but I am having trouble actually working out how to put something on the pop up - do you have any photos of a finished card using this please. the arms on mine want to fold at right angles - not to the top.
Sorry to hear yours doesn't work. All I can really suggest is that you try making it again and pay special attention tol where you make the diagonal folds. You can see the arrangement of folds pretty clearly from about 4.04. When it comes to adding things - extra pieces can jut down below the arms but not above them.
@@thepop-upchannel4919 Thank you for your reply. It's not so much it doesn't work. I would just love to see where you put say a FACE - that part seems to be inverted - thats why I was asking did you have a card that you have made with something STUCK to the pop up. I am trying with a frog - but the part that pops out is more his tummy and his face is inverted in the hollow.
You could extend the top and then cut out a wedge to shape it (Tutorial 13). Or - again you could extend the top section a bit and add an extra fold so that the head goes back more (tutorial 8 at 7.45)..
