Tractor cruise hosted by the Montgomery County (MO) Old Threshers Association on June 15, 2013. This is a short clip I talked a friend into recording for me showing the tractors driving past. Sorry about the background talking, but when someone's doing a favor for you it's not good to complain about small details. There were 35 tractors registered, and 56 participants total.
1940 Stover CT2 Startup
zhlédnutí 5KPřed 11 lety
Starting up, running, and shutting down a 1940 Stover CT-2 hit and miss engine. This engine is out of a cement mixer, the same one in a previous video. Yes, I know I could just shut off the mixer needle valve to stop it, but then I would have to readjust the settings again every time I started it.
Cleaning Seed Wheat with Clipper No. 27
zhlédnutí 29KPřed 11 lety
A short explanation of cleaning seed wheat with a Clipper No. 27 seed cleaner. This specific cleaner was made sometime in the 50's or 60's. It has the following optional features: roll feed hopper, upper and lower cleaning brushes, variable speed v-belt fan drive, adjustable fan intake covers.

Squeezing Sweet Sorghum Cane 2011- Day 2
zhlédnutí 14KPřed 12 lety
Second day of squeezing sweet sorghum cane in 2011. I made some changes to the equipment to make things go a bit smoother than the first day's setup. Here's a link to day 1: czcams.com/video/4tURLqCALXE/video.html
Squeezing Sweet Sorghum Cane 2011- Day 1
zhlédnutí 3,6KPřed 12 lety
Squeezing sweet sorghum cane in 2011 with a group of friends from the Montgomery County (MO) Old Threshers. This is our first attempt at making sorghum syrup. The mill/press is a Cook Superior No 30. It is horse pulled, but my horse has wheels. We squeezed about 40 gallons of raw juice in around 6-7 hours. Sorry, I didn't have a chance to video the cooking process. Here's a link to day 2: czcam...
1916 Headless Fairbanks Startup

Start-up and running of a 1916 Fairbanks Morse 1.5hp model Z headless hit and miss gasoline engine. This engine has the older style single spring ignitor.
1959 Bolens Ride-a-Matic with Tiller
zhlédnutí 103KPřed 13 lety
Here's a short clip of my 1959 Bolens Ride-a-Matic garden tractor with the garden tiller attachment. The engine is a Kohler K161 rated at a whopping 7hp. It does have the electric start kit, but part has been removed while I was working on the engine and frame and will not be replaced until I am further along in restoration. So far I've only gotten the engine running and the frame moving, along...
1950's Goodall Push Mower
zhlédnutí 8KPřed 13 lety
Playing around a little bit with my 1950's Goodall push mower. It's powered by a Lauson RSH-775 engine, which was one of the first vertical shaft small gasoline engines made. For only having around 2HP it does a fairly good job in the tall grass. The mower has a 20" cut.
Shelling Corn with IHC 1-hole Sheller
zhlédnutí 171KPřed 13 lety
Shelling corn with an old IHC 1-hole hand cranked sheller. Here I try to show how an old corn shelling machine works and then demonstrate its operation. Yes, you could install a belt pulley on the flywheel side and run these machines with a gas engine. And having a 2nd person helping to feed the ears makes things go faster. One of these days I'll tear the sheller down and clean and repaint it s...
1918 Economy E 5hp
zhlédnutí 2,7KPřed 13 lety
First good run of my 1918 Economy (made by Hercules, sold by Sears) model E 5hp engine. This engine was completely torn apart and whatever needed fixing was fixed. Then it was totally sandblasted and repainted. My camera doesn't have very good sound pickup, so you really can't hear how the exhaust really sounds. I had someone tell me later that it sounded similar to a mortar being launched! The...
1947 Maytag 72D
zhlédnutí 3,2KPřed 13 lety
1947 Maytag 72D starting cold. The only things I did to this engine after purchasing was to oil where needed, file the points, and install new spark plugs. For anyone who doesn't know, these little engines were used to power Maytag washing machines in households that did not have electricity. This 2-stroke engine is rated at 2/3hp and is designed for a 16:1 fuel/oil mix ratio with 30W non-deter...
Fuller & Johnson 3hp N
zhlédnutí 4,2KPřed 13 lety
My Fuller & Johnson 3hp N hit and miss engine on its first good run. It has been suggested that this engine falls somewhere in the 1920-1922 model years. Since the tag is missing there is no certain way to date it. The connecting rod and entire rocker arm assembly are homemade, and the piston is one from an IHC M tractor that has been modified to fit this engine. This was all done by the previo...
Power Products model 1000 engine
zhlédnutí 6KPřed 13 lety
Power Products model 1000 2-cycle gasoline engine, built in the early to mid 50's. All aluminum construction. Throttle governed. Runs well, but kinda noisy. These engines were often used on washing machines, reel lawn mowers, and similar applications.

What color would this have been originally?
Love it! Just found one of these in the woods that I want to bring back to life.
How do you have the battery and coil set up
Nice sheller there! It's making for some quick work.
What year of unit is ths...30's?? 40's??
Searched this while watching a 1960s film Squad Car. Pretty neat to see this clip. Thanks
Had that engine driving a Montgomery Wards reel mower. But the tank was one-piece. Walked behind it many hours as a kid. 1950-56.
Love that old corn sheller. IHC. Is that International Harvester Company?
Cobs went to the outhouse.
can make shine with that??
Nice video. What kind of corn do run through there. That’s not sweet corn, is it? Also, what will you use that corn for? Feed, corn meal?
Good one 👌👍 love it ❤️❤️ super 👌, that rascal is built for hard work 👍👍👍👍👍👍
I had a friend who lived on farm and they had one of those. We shucked a few ears and were told never to touch it. Then a chain with a lock appeared on it. Apparently these are notorious finger and hand grinders.
Kinda sounds like a 4cycle but it maybe a 2stroke
I remember one of these in my grandparents chicken barn, I believe it was bigger but it's been 50 years. I think Dad told me he had to turn the crank a lot when he was younger or until about "52" when they bought the "Farmall Cub Cadet" and ran it of the PTO. Different life back then!
Better not to use gloves. If your glove pulls your hand in, just reverse cranking and get whats left of your hand out. I know
Nice
I have one just like. Great machine. I'm selling mine . 4kobo. Mine has a hopper on top where grain goes in. It has a box to catch all wind drops. I have about 28 different screens. Near central Wisconsin. I have video on here of it and find it on Wausau craigslist.
thanks for the awesome demo - many of these are rusted to the ground :(
My mom has had one of these sitting on her front porch for years and I finally decided to try to restore it for her. Her model doesn't have the blower feature on it, so it might make it easier on me. But it's missing the hopper, handle, and cross pieces for the feet. But it also has a tip at the end of the shaft that I assume is for hooking it up to a motor. I need to do a lot more research on this to be sure I fix it right. I really appreciate this video!
That's a pretty stoudt machine.
Do not know if you are still around but I now own this engine.
I looked a long time for mine. I ended up buying one at auction that was nearly gone. I rebuild the iron and made a complete new box for it. They are a fascinating bit of equipment. A motor is a nice touch. If I ever get the chance I want to pick up one of the hit and miss engines.
i need this, but how can i get ?
Rajendra Dahal They come up for sal on Ebay but the shipping is huge.
I need to know how the speed shifter work. Got one I'm restoring and it's on neutral. I need to see the shifter assembly
just got my CT2 running!
Just got mine running too! Fuel line float was stuck and condenser was bad. Thanks for the video!
NICE
very nice engine. love to have one for my collection
I have one. Only one ive ever seen in person.. love to sale it. No idea what it's worth
I bought one new from the hardware store I worked summers in. It was in the early 1950s. Just an exceptionally sweet and refined engine for the time. I eventually put it in a homemade gocart where it did very well, but not fast.
Very nice
For a small operation, that's really efficient! If you built a bigger hopper you could really go to town.
what
I always wanted a goodall. My grandpa had a few growing up around the farm and they had Clinton VS-700s on em.
I have the same sheller but I don't have any corn.
if u dont need this then send to me.. :d
about how many ears does it take to fill up a 50lb bag?
A lot.
I love anything IH. never knew they made these. very nice!!!
pleas ken i hafe this send me to austria my frend bleas
Bob Nowak the model 1000 POWER Products engine that Tim Turner was trying to sell is my engine is still have it for sale it's never been
I have a model 1000 Power Products engine it is never been started up again original plug in it because anybody interested
I never bother with husking the corn if still has a husk on it. . . . It seems to make no difference at all with my older sheller. . . The sheller in one of my videos is turning at 200 RPM on the flywheel. . . Mine was considered obsolete long before your was built. . . Check it out.
Great video and very helpful. We just won a no. 27 at auction but ours is a line shaft drive model. I'm trying to find out anything I can about the unit and have been scouring everything from academic collections to discussion groups. I wonder if you have any documentation for your Clipper? I have a lot of cleaning and some minor repairs ahead of me before we can use ours and am looking for any information I can get my hands on.
If you need a reverse clutch disk, let me know, I have 2 of them!
Salut prietene! In locul rotii mari pune o fulie cam de 20-25 cm diametru si un motor da cca 750w cu o curea trapezoidala si scoate manivela.Te-ai automatizat
I found our sheller. It was buried, but I have moved enough stuff I can get to it and test things out. It actually does have the fan, but the belt is missing and the fan is frozen solid. A little oil will get that going, but I'll need a belt as well. The only other problem, besides a lot of rust, is a screw that fastens the crank appears to be missing and the crank just slides loosely around the shaft, but I was able to spin everything by the flywheel and it will work! I hope to get it pulled out even further so I can take a better look at it while I'm still here.
For the belt, you can just use the rubber band from an old 5 gallon bucket lid. Make sure to put a figure 8 twist in it.
that's why they called the banker fat, cause he didn't do any work LOL
Sir, That will be a fine looking tractor when you get it restored. Those tractors are made to last not like this throw away "Carp" They sell today us Today!!! Could you tell me what size the rear tires are?
I probably would had driven that cleaner with a gas engine- specifically a Briggs & Stratton model A.
Good video. Fun to watch.
We have this same machine. I used to put walnuts down it when I was a small child. I do remember seeing ours working off a tractor once, but that was long ago. I haven't seen the machine in years but my dad says he still has it. I think I'm going to check it out during my next visit.
Thanks for showing how it worked and what is inside of a sheller, I have never seen one, what was the dry corn used for? corn meal? surely you didn't hand process all of your corn crop for seed or feed?
@ 10411069 The big wheel on the side has a built in groove for a motor or engine to drive it...
No it doesn't.
