  • Composite video of the Montgomery County (MO) Old Threshers cutting and binding (grassy) wheat in 2010 with an old IHC wheat binder, then stacking the bundles in shocks. Shocking the wheat is to complete the drying process of both wheat and any weeds mixed in to prepare for threshing. Shocks are made from 5-8 bundles of wheat, stood head up together (kind of like a camp fire) with one bundle fanned and laid across the top to help shed rain. The shocks will be picked up after a few weeks and tossed on a wagon to be taken to a threshing machine.
