New airfield - new spirit! Why it's so important where you fly!
I found a new airfiled and I feel like a new pilot! Some weak points in my heli flying were caused or increased by the shape of my former airfield: asymmetrical shape, powerlines and sorrounded everywehre by high trees and forest. That the wind was ALWAYS blowing from left to right did not help as well. After few days on my new field I know: This is it!! Everything is perfect! The best place to celebrate 400 Subscribers!! Thanks to all of you!!

    Wow, what a beautiful day and place! Great practice Matthias! I'm re-thinking my flying a bit. I'm still in the front yard, as I'm looking for a WHOLE new place to fly where there are little to no people around. Anyway, I used to always just "Go Fly", and I think for a time it worked. I think it's something every novice goes through, while practicing. I'm now planning my flights out. By that I mean, I have a plan set in place that I want to implement. I don't just want to put the Heli down, lift off and fly. I now want to put the first pack or 2 through it, just doing Yaw turns with little to no collective, along with controlling the speed of the Heli more, keeping it slow. Packs three and 4 I want to start gaining more speed, and practicing harder on left and right banking turns where I'm at close to 90 degrees as I'm pulling pretty hard on the collective, but keeping the turns smooth. Sort of a "Back to basics" approach. I think this will help with the inverted and everything else. I'm getting closer to making my right turns as smooth as my left ones. On the sim I'm practicing a LOT of right hand turns.

      @AnythingEverythingRC This is a very good strategy! I was "just flying around" for too long. Now I am always going back to basics. Practicing flips and rolls as smooth as possible, working on collective pitch management. It's a very good learning method to focus on selected points until they get better. Step by step is the better way to make progress than wanting all steps at one moment. Very good. I feel that since I am doing this my flying gets "cleaner" and smoother. Patience is a very important thing in heli flying! Symmetry is all!! Congratulations and hapy flights!!

    BEAUTIFUL new flying site Matthias!! Your M4 Max is very happily setup!! I'm sure you already know this but, to help with your loops, add a bit more negative collective pitch at the inverted portion. @rickhayes Thank you very much, Rick! I am trying to find the right amount of negative pitch at the top when inverted and the right moment/timing. The great thing is: if the loop is really pretty round and big all has to come together: speed, amount of pos collective when going up, negative pitch timing.... There is so much to learn. On this new field it is so great to fly! Thank you for all advise and all the best to you!

    I can see you are nervous coming out of the loop. You don’t want to slam it into the ground. I recognize that. What helped me was trusting my elevator in stead of my collective pitch. You can also fly past your self and then start your loop. That way you do the loop from tail in to nose in to tail in. Very nice field by the way. I’m jealous. Around here every field is owned by a farmer and prohibited to fly.

The landings are the most difficult because just the gusty wind picks the heli up one meter in one second and throws it down one meter in the next. @jupi-aladin To be honest I did not find a clear answer, if the M4 or the M4 Max is easier to fly in winds. At the moment I fly only the M4 because I have it 4 or 5 month longer and know it better. I will fly the M4 Max next week. It has more power and is less affacted of Vortex Ringsate Effects. But I just have much less flights on it. I will come back to you!!

    Hi Matthias, congratulations on your progress! 2 questions, and sorry if you’ve commented on these before: 1) which simulator are you using 2) have you found that larger helis are easier to fly than your smaller birds? Thanks so much!

      Hello Brian! I am happy to answer your questions: 1. I am using the AccuRC 3 simulator. There will be no more new model updates, but the existing modesl are great and the flight physics feel every close to real life! 2. for sure it is technically easier to fly bigger helis. They are more forgiving, better visibility. BUT: At least for me it's making me more nervous if I imagine that I might crash a large heli hand have expensive damage. So it;s just a "head thing". I am more "loose" and relaxed with the small ones. But I am sure it's a matter of time! Best greetings and I hope this helps!!

    Sell the M2 and just fly the M4. Bigger is better. More stable, handles wind better and you can go higher to try new moves and actually have more time to react to save it if you lose orientation. Forget the small helis if you want to get better. Take my advice or not, its your choice.

    • @RCCopterLove-helis4ever
      @RCCopterLove-helis4ever Před měsícem

      @iwontreplybacklol7481 Thanks for your comment! I am flying my M4 and M4 max now much more often than the M2 EVO and I am getting more an more feel for them and feel more comfortable. But I try all new maneuvers with my M2 first and treat it a bit like a real time simulator. When I crash it's no big deal. Second reason: I love to fly my M2's almost everywehre because I need much less space to do acrobatics with the small one. I am still new to helis, so it's just a matter of time that I will feel with the big ones as comfortable as with the small ones.

    Congrat Matthias for your inverted flying. Problem is, you have no enough time for building trust in your inverted flying, while you always in move. Try this: Heli stays in solid hovering tail-in a safety distance in front of you - make a half roll to inverted - stay there for 1 or 2 sec, if you feel uncomfortable you make a half roll and you are again in a very safe tail-in position. So you have always a safe exit when you train inverted and you earn time without stress for a better inverted feeling. You know this there is no shortcut in heli flying - first you have always learn hovering then you can begin move slowly around with the heli. Weiter so Matthias keep moving and blessing from Switzerland.

    • @RCCopterLove-helis4ever
      @RCCopterLove-helis4ever Před měsícem

      @danielschibig8014 Thank you very much for your good advise. I am doing a lot of inverted hovering on one place on my simulator. I even try to move the helis in the sim in inverted flight from far away closer to me, hold them there as long as possible. It is not easy in the SIM, but we have very strong and gusty winds on my field... since many, many weeks. And in this wind it is still much too difficult for me to keep my helis on one place. I am yet far away to really feel what is the influence of the wind and how I can "counter balance" on my sticks. I am doing this inverted flying in movement to do ANY inverted flying in the real life. Now in this wind my skills are much too poor for hovering on one place. But this is my next goal!! Best greetings from Poland to Switzerland!!

    • @danielschibig8014
      @danielschibig8014 Před měsícem

      Yes, it‘s really important also for learning hovering in real time that you earn time to stay in a position without stress for 1 or 2 sec (later for 3 or 4 sec an so on…..the rest will come automatically when you have build enough trust) and that you have always a safety exit. Keep it flying😊

    • @RCCopterLove-helis4ever
      @RCCopterLove-helis4ever Před měsícem

      @@danielschibig8014 Yes, Daniel,You mention an important word: Stress. Gusty high winds and continous inverted hover cause a lot of stress at this moment. When I am inverted in a bit movement (as well caused by wind) I am already busy keeping enough altitude and "planning" my way out of inverted. But it feels a bit safer for me. It is so important for me to have a "plan" for a bailout! In general the method with increasing hover times inverted you are describing is exactly how I came closer and closer to hovering upright in 3D mode until a full batterie in my first weeks and days in March 2021. History repeats itself!! 😀
