Look at me, heli!! Nose in flying makes you better!

- Honestly I felt a strange fear, whenever the nose of my heli was pointing towards me. The bigger the heli, the more uncomfortable I felt. Now I know: The more you reject or resist something, the more you need to do it. So I was flying all my helis, the M2, the M1 and the M4 as often as possible nose in. I show all exercises in this video: hovers, starts, landings, flying away backwards, flying sideways, all I could imagine. And it helped me big time! One day it makes "click" and it feels naturally. You just have to o it. If you like it or not! But finnaly you will even love it!
Bad weather with heavy snowfalls posponed the maiden flight of my M4 Max. For good luck I had this episode recorded earlier as a reserve! - Zábava

@Johnotooledoggames2336 Thank you for your kind comment! I love this flying field very much. Not very big, a lot of obsticles, but its in the middle of the nature with forrests all around. Flying there is as well a kind of ritual fore me: Hot tea with me, from time to time a short break to reset the brain a little. It's an experience with all senses involved.
Good comment to climb away from trouble which is counterintuitive to fix wing flying.
2Johnvella5834 I guess the most confusing in heli flying for fixed wing pilots is in how many possible directions you can fly with a heli. I guess this is was makes helis so fascinating but as well so difficult to fly.
@RCCopterLove-helis4ever After many years of helicopter and fixed wing flying I still find the nose in backwards climb out and the nose in approach to a hover demanding.
@@johnvella5834 Yes, it is and I guess it always will be demanding. This is why I train it in every session and I realize slowly it gets more intuitive. But with me its like in all sports or playing instruments: As soon as I practice less I am getting worst again. Happy flights!!
One of the best things to do if you lose ORIENTATION is to PIRO, seeing the tail whip around will help you see which way the Heli is. Great progress by the way, when NOSE in just remember left is right, right is left, back is from, front is back. Excellent sir, you are making GREAT Progress.
@MARKLINMAN1 Thank you very much for your nice words regarding my progress! I agree pirouetting helps always when you are not sure in which position your heli is. I am very often turning the heli a bit to one side when I am flying nose in towards me. To see a bit of the side helps me to estimate the distance! And yes, when you do nose in flying very often the optical reversed directions go deep into your mind and muscle memory! Best greetings!!
@@RCCopterLove Exactly, Muscle memory, I tell Heli pilots if you have to think about which way the sticks go you are DONE, you will crash. It should come INSTINCTIVELY. Cheers and Happy Holidays, love seeing your progress.
@@MARKLINMAN1 Great! Yes it has to be instictively! On good days (and thankfully they are getting more) I have the feeling as if the heli is part of my brain or body. Not regarding thinking. Rather that there is a very close and direct connection. Then I feel "one" with my heli these are blissfull moments!
That's awesome 👌. The more you practice the better you will become. Also try taking off and landing nose in and all other directions. If you do it enough, you will feel just as confident as tail in. You are doing great. 🚁💨💨
@CloudyFlyerRowdyNiemira Thank You for your encouraging and kind comment! Yes, it's all a matter of practice and at least in my case as a 62, soon 63 years old: Regulary practice! In my case this is the key word, but honestly it was all my life this way. I always had to do something regulary to get better. The best in my case is training even every single day! So good that I love this practice so much! I have difficulties to NOT practice. Today lots of snowfall outside! Means flying indoors with my little M1 EVO!!
A little while ago i managed to master all upside orientations. That opened the door for flying figures of eight. Doing that for a while now, i start flying them faster and banking in the turns, which is a lot of fun! For a couple of weeks now i started flying inverted nose in. First practicing a lot on the simulator and then in real life with my xk k110s. Crashing and repairing a lot, but suddenly it clicks in your brain and you have muscle memory. Now practicing inverted tail in.
@frisos3944 Thats all stations on the way I went! And like you I love steep bank angles in turns, figure eights and hurricans! I will se now on my new simulator in winter if inverted flying is for me! Less risky than to try it in real life on the field! Good like with inverted tail in!! And lots of fun!!

@danielschibig8014 Thank you Daniel! I still have to create a model on my Radiomaster TX12 MkII for it. With my existing and flying model files for my M 4, M 1's and M 2's the positive collective pitch is to few to really take the helis off in a normal way. I have a video on CZcams still made by TC when he was working for Buddy RC... I hope I get this done. Today first day with lots of snowfall and already 15 cm snow. So time for Sim preparation!! All the best and thanks for your believe in me, although I am not the youngest and still struggling with Edge TX and so on. :D

For me backwards flying was the one that felt unnatural as well as nose in.
What RPM did you fly the M4?
@1ns0mn1um Thank you very much in regards my progress! I am flying my M4 at around 2100 rpm. Thats for me a great headspeed. The rpm keep stable even if I "catch" my heli after a big loop. Yes, backwards was very difficult and my circles or figure 8ts are still not fluent backwards. It's something I try to train as often as possible! The best is: I love this training and finally there is an effect! Best Greetings!

@@700sizehelisaretoosmall Yes, flying small helis is my best method to survive the winter in a great mood! I fly my M1 Evo in my house whenever outside it is raining or snowing! No real substitute for outdoor flying, but much fun!! I wish you a great alzrc build!! I will hope to maiden my M4 Max these days and to publish the maiden video after almost 4 weeks of rain an snow ....
I can remember the first time I tried nose in hover, it was so scary but exciting, Before I tried it I said to myself, the day I am able to do nose in hover, then I am not a beginner anymore but a intermediary 😅
I tried 3D two times and the first was a crash and the second time a had to abort 😅 now I do some figure of eight 😅 no 3D yet
@reginalmcnab3265 Thank you that you share the feeling that nose in is scary at first! Yes it is challenging! I made the mistake to start too early with flips and loops and it ended with three crashed helis on one single day. Now I know that all orientations in upright have to be very common to a pilot before he starts more advanced maneuvers. As soon as I took my time, the crashrate went down significant! Safe flight and lots of fun!!
