Hole callout is should be standard drill size?
If i design a hole in the inspection gauge, and put the part on the gauge, then use a 0.95 pin to inspection the position, how about the diameter foe the hole in the gauge, thanks in advance for your reply😊

I appreciated you are sharing valuable knowledge with us. Just want to share, I think you might have mistake at 4.10 stating that when parallelism applies to feature of size its apply as shown on board but actually you mean to say on the surface I believe
I have comment about the datums on red part. Based on its fit and function, we could use one of the side surfaces as datum A and control the perpendicularity of threaded holes and the parallelism of the opposing sliding surface within 0.5 or something (I'm metric btw). Datum B can be largest surface with a generous profile tolerance. Datum C could be the top surface to control the orientation of the threaded holes back to all three datums. Although datum C is mating to air, as its controlling the orientation of the hole - it should have profile of 1 for proper hole alignment.

You have done very big mistake by marking 1 inch size at two places which creating lot of confusion, which 1 inch you are talking about. You could have given 2inch size for position.
Thank you fo the clever explanation, it's very clear. I have one question though, what happens if for a 4 X hole pattern we put just one line position tolerance diameter, .030 MMC to A, B & C. Like the first one you had before you explained the composite tolerance. I believe with that one we are not controling the relative position between holes, so how this could be inspected? Thank you again.
so if the tolerance is 0.007 and the number is greater than that it is ok? so the calculation you added to 0.001166 was good and the MMC you added after is just to show us what you do if it was under 0.007?

How do you know what value to use for a Projected Tolerance Zone. You stated that it doubles with every plate. Am I correct in thinking that if I have three plates with the same thickness it triples? So, for example the first hole (lowest in the stackup) has a PTOL of +/- .015; then my second plate must have a PTOL of +/- .030, and the third having +/- .060? What if I hade three mating surfaces where one of them was 1.000in and the mioddle one was .675in and the third .375in. Would I then multiply my PTOL by 1.675 and 1.375 respectively? I forgot to mention I am speaking 3X clearance holes through a 3X tsack bolted joint (nut & bolt).
datum c isn't called out out in any feature control frames on the 4x BHC at 11 min 24 sec so its irrelevant and not used in inspection its just a datum with no reference frame

Running Calypso 2023. In piweb when I am click on Data provider tab on the lfet, there are no Characteristics there to select from. I have not had a chance to run the program because I am waiting for fixturing to prove it all out. Do I need measured data there to select from the characteristics?
I have a question if you don't mind? A designer at the company where I work has suggested, instead of using basic dimensions, have a callout of position in a feature control frame and a note which states "basic dimensions relating to position are to cad, in line with datum structure". From a metrology standpoint, we can obtain the X Y Z co-ordinates from CAD once the alignment is constructed in line with drawing requirements, and the drawing is defined from CAD... so my question is, is it mandatory for basic dimensions to be called out on a drawing in ASME, or could this method be deployed?
Maybe you’ve never heard this before but I appreciate how slow you talk. That way when it’s a hard concept or one I’m not familiar with I can listen to it at regular speed. To fully understand it and take the information as it’s being presented. And when it’s a concept I’m generally familiar with I can speed it up to 1.25 and 1.5 and it still sounds like regular speech and information is still clear and easy to hear. Thank you for these videos, hard to find consistent videos that go through the topics in a linear fashion while touching on every topic.

Hi. I need to do a crash repair on a Miata...in UK. Only panels..thin metal and not structural. I'd rather braze...to keep the temperature down...so as not to blow holes. Can you recommend the brass/bronze rods...flux and a cheap way with what gas... without having to buy a huge set up with oxy bottles. ?? Thanks🙏🏼
In the 1st example, standard way I'd write the CMM program alignment to ABC would be to Level to A, Orient on B, and then rotate or Align to C. It seems to me that by doing this I am 'using' the translation modifier (sideways triangle). Am I missing something?

Thats just bad method...the better way would b to have ur layout mold be solid, not a bent sheet...then after u lay down all the epoxy, u use stretch plastic to put HEAVY pressure on the cloth, so any air bubbles and excess epoxy get pushed out, epoxy is just glue, its the fiber doing the work, u want as little epoxy involved as possible!

Would a diamond shaped pin work?
Not sure where this guy learned to braze. I've seen brazing on English race car chassis with perfect stack of dimes brazing welds on hundreds of tubular joints. Not the rather sloppy brazing displayed here. You can also see beautiful stack of dimes brazing on custom bike builders sites where they build bikes of the classic steel frame style.

Im about a year along my 3d printing hobby and didnt really need this stuff. As Ive been diving more into design,I found myself here and Im hooked. This is just the nerd food my brain needs. all jokes aside I learned a lot, probably need to watch the video a few more times but the instructions are clear even if they are a bit over my head for now. How to create common zone between 02 angular holes on circumference of cylinder
Can you use runout on a cylinder when the only specified datum is a plane perpendicular to the cylinder's axis? Would that make any sense?
