Man, setting these things up really is a science unto itself. "Quick" question: Is it ok to re-use an existing profile when you update your VPC software? I've just done that today for my CM3 throttle (was using VPC version from 2022 IIRC) and the old profile seems to work as expected, but I did notice some minor stuff. Namely that the selector would not change back colors on the throttle's LED buttons when I set it to mode 5 - it would just stay on that mode's color when I rotated the switch back. Under "Shift Setup" button 5 was set to "TGL" instead of "ON" like all the others, so I simply changed that and now it seems to work again. Another thing I noticed is that I'm not getting the correct image for my throttle under the "Profile"-tab (just a red x icon) and it also isn't set to "5-way Shift" by default in the second pull-down menu in there. Doesn't seem to affect the throttle's behavior, but I do wonder if I should maybe make a brand new profile. Which I'm not looking forward to, since I remember setting up the throttle-axes to give me those engine on/off button presses below my detents was a bit of a chore.. :D

Thanks Jon! Needed this video to change my t-50cm3 throttle flaps axis to a 3 button. An hour and a half on my own, 15 min. with your vid solved this. The Save VPC button I wasn't doing. Goofy in the head me, now again (for awhile) sharp as a tack me.

not sure if you still see replies to this video.. but question.... I have a TCM503.. already set up and running. I just got the CP1 in today and want to add it to the TCM503. Do i need to connect the CP1 directly on its own 'first', then do the firmware update? or can i connect it to the TCM50 then do the firmware update from there?

I didn’t realise this would override my no-modifiers profile.. I didn’t have it saved or exported so when I followed this tutorial I lost all my key binds and custom detent settings. Is there any way to get that back or do I have to sit down for hours re doing everything again? I love your tutorials by the way, just this one killed me a little inside

HI, i have a slider on my cm3 which i turned before from axis to button, when i try turn it back from button to axis it will not respond, axis z is on zero value (a slider)

Thanks John for the video, I had to do computer updates and re-install to dcs. Currently I have a problem when I connect the two virpil devices together in AXIS. How do I fix the situation? I know that each device must be installed separately and the devices worked fine for a year, now I have a problem that everyone mentions... Is there a way to fix it without deleting the previous setup? How do you do it? Thanks

Any idea if it's possible to remove the levers and flip them around so the reverse angle makes them handle more like throttle levers? So at full forward they wouldn't lay as flat, and full back they would sit at more of an engine idle position.

Is there any way to setup the mode switch to like an encoder? That is assign one button when switching up on each step up of modes, and one button for each step back down on the mode switch.

I just got my virpil set. Do you have a tutorial that makes both sides of the flip switches on the throttle into button presses ? The red toggle lever only registers one button push when pushed into the up position. But when pushed down; nothing happens.

I’ve tried both Track IR and VR and agree both have their strengths and weaknesses. The biggest struggle with VR was resolution for target identification. Track IR let me use the 50” 4k TV, but finding a spot that would allow for head tracking consistently was nigh impossible. Tobii looks interesting, but I have concerns about the sub 3 foot max distance from the unit. Not sure how, or if, I’ll solve the problem if I were to try again in the future

Jon, this video is exactly what I've been looking for as I've read about the many nightmares users face using Virpil's software. With that said, you stated that the CM2 is no different than the CM3. Would it be possible that Virpil numbered their controls differently considering physical buttons 44-45 apply to T5 vs T3 as mentioned in your video? I ask because if so, then I would be happy to use your video as a guide to setting up a CM3 Controller. I am new to flight sims and currently have the Virpil CM3, Thrustmaster Warthog, or Winwing Orion in my sights and I'm unsure which one I should purchase at this moment. Just ordered a VBK Premium stick and this will be my first HOTAS setup ever.
