Thanks Jon! Needed this video to change my t-50cm3 throttle flaps axis to a 3 button. An hour and a half on my own, 15 min. with your vid solved this. The Save VPC button I wasn't doing. Goofy in the head me, now again (for awhile) sharp as a tack me.

If you feel limited by the 8 options you and you don't need fine tuning in the range, it's better to use the in-axis menu and choose 0%,50%,100% or 0-20%,21%-40%,... I've used that for my flaps handle as a landing gear and saved 3 axis to button options. Thanks for the informative video!

With the type set to "Hardware", I've gotten it to work I think. Instead of Value % you have to use the "Raw Value" that the throttle outputs to set the range. This works for me for my recently bought CM3, but the actual number value I have from "Raw Value" is crazy different from what I see you have, so it will have to be custom for each person's throttle. I really wish virpil updated their docs on this stuff. It's been non stop trial and error for me.

This is what I discovered as well. This works great in combination "Both Detents" calibration setting. It lets me set up a dead zone at the bottom for idle, and exactly control the output between the idle and the second detent (i.e. set afterburner to exactly 80). It works so much better than user curves.
I do wish they'd update their documentation. There are a number of settings that I don't have any idea about.

could there be a way for the community to manage some group documentation, like wikivirpil or something. so many smart nerds have got to be able to suss these problems out and write them down somewhere, if their hive mind could be brought to bear. thanks for posting regardless, today i learned.

oh my god thank you i tried so much to get this to work in star citizen so i can turn off and on my ship at the beginning of my throttle it works perfect for me the hardware numbers startet at around 42000 so i set the axes to start at 42500 and the buttons are between 42000 and 42500 so my ship doesnt start flying immediatly when turning the ship on^^

@@dabneyoffermein595 yes, each button, hat switch, toggle switch, rotary encoder and axis can be mapped directly in whatever sim you are running … there are some interesting “advanced functions” that can be programmed by the Virpil software in addition to the basic outputs … like having an axis generate a button press when one moves the axis within a particular range (0%-20% = b52).

Make sure when setting the % it's in ascending order (ex: 0-45, 55-100). If it is descending (ex: 45-0, 100-55) it won't work.

Hi. Thx for this tut. I wonder what if you calibrate throttle axies like this. For A-10 is ok, but what with other plane or games? For example in other title a plane can start rolling even if you have your throttle down right to the detent, yes? Because it sees axis start before detents.

hi, I bought a Virpil MongoosT-50CM3 Throttle for the PMDG Boeing 737-800 (besides the VPC MongoosT-50CM2 Joystick). Now I would like to know how you have assigned the "flaps" on the MongoosT-50CM3 Throttle? There is an axe on the throttle. Or did you assign the different flaps grid settings by buttons on the joystick (because easier)?
Another question is, is it also enough to assign the flaps only in the MSFS 2020 ingame assignments (extend and retract with only 2 positions, instead of several?
I actually want to be able to operate the flaps according to real procedures. Can you please give me tips on how to assign the flaps in the Boeing 737-800 with multiple positions forward and backward?

Can you do a video on how to setup the Flap handle again by turning it into three buttons. The old method does not seem to work. When I added the Flap handle (rz axis) it stepped on the logical buttons by using the same ones already assigned to the throttle.
