I just started watching "The Orville" and I've just realised that show is literally just "TNG but Alex and Josh are in it as two of the main cast".

The Riker stuff is overdone in BOBW. It thematically fits but drags and the issue of him would be all but dropped considering the urgency of the circumstances. He could be ordered to go command the Melbourne (but it's unlikely they would want to mess with Enterprise's command structure in a crisis situation). But there wouldn't be time for all Riker's wangsting. I just don't see workaholic Riker having a casual chat with Deanna in 10 Forward when he could be preparing for the Borg. Considering they were boarded during their first Borg encounter, why weren't extra security officers placed on the bridge? Riker and Worf discussing tactics would have been a much better meeting. The Riker stuff really drags on a rewatch.

A Borg cube? I will only be impressed by seeing 3d Star Trek chess.

I can understand Best of Both Worlds Pt.1 being A tier when taken by itself. It's a great setup, and establishes a lot about the Borg, Riker, and starfleet, but the majority of the episode is just setup leading to the cliffhanger.

I'm glad Yesterdays Enterprise went into S-tier because it does deserve to be there, not just because of the episode itself.

For Deja Q, the writers needed a way to get Q his powers back by the end of the episodes. The aliens were the only way to give Q his selfless act to earn his way back in.

I agree conditionally with "The Best of Both Worlds Part One" as an A tier, not an S tier, and the condition, without giving a spoiler, is summed up in two words: "Part One." The whole is better than the sum of its parts. I have a hard time thinking of this one as being anything but half of a bigger episode, and I can't rank or consider it otherwise. I don't know if you'll feel the same once you see part two or not, but I'd be curious to know if, once you've seen BOTH parts, if you'd rank the two parts TOGETHER higher than either individual episode. "The Most Toys" is still one of my favorites, and I'd rank it A. And honestly, I knew nothing about the guest actor being a last minute replacement AND I've never seen him in anything else, believe it or not but it's true, so it's not a matter of "well, he was good in other things." Just is a personal favorite of mine. Great rankings!

Pretty good Tier list. There's only a few that are mind boggling. It did just hit me that with watching in release order the TNG/DS9/Voyager era is going to be wild. DS9 never ran alone, so it's going to take a while to get through.

Hey guys I know you put off Star Trek Continues from the channel. Which is a bit of a bummer, but I recommend watching an episode or two in your own free time. The quality is a bit lower than the show, but it's still pretty good quality for a fan film and most of them are very character driven episodes.

Everything in your reaction to Best Of Both Worlds said “this is an S tier episode”. Very surprising.

When it comes to E tier, let's just say that none of these episodes can hold a candle to an E tier episode you will eventually see.

I feel like "The Enemy" does not deserve S. The Geordi plot was not that great by itself, as you later said, the Romulan in it was rather boring. "The Bonding" had great character moments, but the whole thing with the alien impersonating the boy's mother was just a waste of screen time and it should have been more Worf, Picard, boy and Wesley character stuff. So it can't an S to me. I was gonna shit on "The Offspring" here as well but tbh I skipped the episode on my last probably two rewatches of the show and so I don't remember a whole lot except that I just didn't care about it at all and even found it to be a bit annoying sometimes (and I absolutely loved "The Measure of a Man")

I also think Best of Both Worlds is a tad overrated. Honestly I find "Dark Frontier" to be a superior Borg two parter.

All of these opinions... very valid and make sense. You could even have left BOBW at A and the argument was fair... but the cliffhanger is part of the episode even if it's a 45 second outro of awesomeness... it's still part of it. I feel like I love season 4... but I can only remember like 6 episodes from it ha

You can't really judge Best of Both Worlds fairly until you have seen the second part.

I said it before, you will change your mind on some these episodes if you watch them again. Cause some of them are just not that great on a rewatch while others are just as good or maybe even better.
