I am Kurdish American, and my grandpa (now deceased) was a peshmerga who was a part of a group of peshmergas who defeated those tanks in order to stop the invasion of Kurdistan from Saddam's regime in the 90s. Unfortunately my grandpa got diagnosed with a heath condition and sadly passed away in 2004, his wish before his death was to bury him right at that place. So you might have noticed a white wall surrounding a grave behind those tanks, that was my grandpa's grave. I am proud to be his grandson. My grandfather was truly a man of honor.
