Excess Audio Gear Overwhelming You? Take Decisive Action in 2024! - Soundacres Service Announcement
Please support my work www.paypal.com/paypalme/Sound...
I came up here in the studio today and went ballistic.
For the third time in 6 months I systematically unplugged, dismantled and disconnected every single piece of gear I had and shoved it into a corner. Why? Its simple. Ive had enough. I'm overwhelmed.
Too long have I been forced to slip, shimmy, re-arrange, reach, fumble around in this cramped space. I needed a change. Too long have I gotten myself tangled up in great messes of spaghettified works of audio cables and tripping over stools. I took a good hard look at all my gear and started taking decisive action. So far ive eliminated more than half of the clutter lurking in here and stripped everything back to the basics. Drums, Hammond Organ, Prophet Rev 2, Kent Bass, EKO Acoustic Guitar and my Ibanez RGT6-EXFX.
I need simple. I need focus. I definitely need the floor space.
All my tape equipment will simply have to live in my bedroom studio.
It was a tough decision but a completely necessary one.
Do you have some gear culling to do in 2024?

😍😍😍😍
This is like a 15 min. Commercial 😂😂😂…. Now I want one 😊😊😊
I use a Hammond XK-1c w/a Leslie 2101mk2 that’s 125 watts w/a real rotating horn. The 31H is my Leslie simulation w/the distortion set at 50% on the organ.
I love my Neo Ventilator, but nothing compares to being in a room with a real Leslie. Even a sim in stereo, as cool as it is, doesn’t envelop you like a real Leslie.
Can’t beat a real Leslie. I ran an 815 for years. I now have a neo vent 2 and a Lester K. The Neo vent is very close sounding to a Leslie. I prefer a real Leslie. The sound is three dimensional and the sound is thrown out around the room. My 815 was very powerful. It’s only down side was it was very heavy. Simulators are two dimensional sound and in very large clubs we perform at times the simulator is very close sounding to a miked Leslie. Particularly the Neo vent 2. On another subject it is like comparing a real tape echo to digital echoes. I own a few vintage tape echoes and their analogue sound cannot be beaten. On stage I use a Danelectro reel echo which isn’t tape but analogue. It is the closest sounding none tape echo to a real tape echo that I have heard. I own a few digital echoes including Roland Boss but they mainly stay in storage. Brilliant video by the way.
Sounds so cool!
12:19 to 12:24 is just so good. I wonder it is from a song or just an improv.
Good luck finding one.
💜💛
how about the weight of this guitar? about how many kilograms? thx
That’s a very good question. Will have to check that.
7 all day
Assalomalekum❤
wow ! that was my very first guitar and i still play it today , i fkn love it <3
Yep it’s great.
I’m a guitar player. I’d love to take a 122 to a gig. Try taking a Leslie to a gig.😳😳😳😳🥺🥺🥺🥺😪😪😪😪 The Neo Vent ll, is the best sim pedal made. I use a NUX Roctary.. it’s better than all other Leslie pedals. I really like your sound and what you’ve chosen to play.
Yes, it would be an ordeal having to take a real Leslie to a gig. They are bulky heavy, and sometimes unpredictable. Thank you for the comment.
The 900 series are the worst Leslies
Mine works and sounds amazing. Having owned a 147 and a 122RV in the past, I find this to be a great Leslie. Would you care to elaborate?
Hi can you teach me guitar again please
Great new Channel
Listening here guys🎉
Your comment about tonewoods is interesting ….. they are an all-laminate instrument. Basically, a heavy duty, indestructible plywood box - which is why they were the “weapon of choice” for many touring musicians back in the day, and why so many still survive ! Don’t get me wrong … I have one of that vintage - branded as “ Eston” for the Australian market - and love it.
it really is time for a Ventilator 3!
Totally agreed.
Bad photography unfortunately distracts
You mean cinematography. Sorry you got distracted.
Parting out 63 or 64 Leslie rotary and other odds and ends. Anyone interested?
post more music soon. waiting for your next live streaming.
Hi
You are such a brilliant musician
I want that guitar so bad I’m searching for it and I have money for it but I can’t find it anywhere in great condition
I bought mine new 1971 in Gibraltar, including solid wood case, Played it in the Gibraltar Folk club, then the Creme de creme on stage in INCES HALL GIBRALTAR for the grand show 1974 Still have it in mint condition, and believe it or not after last bedroom playing in 2021 it is still in perfect tune, though I replaced the strings last month (I say mint condition, like all EKO the scratch plate fell off, a couple of months ago but I managed to get a replacement) Great instrument only problem is I am 80 now
Done to you idol from emelia montesa..nice blogging full watching

Watching now host, wow this is amazing 🎉
Hello brother
Another consideration/ option for a Solid-state Leslie is the 760; I've had mine since 1976 and it still performs well, and has wheels which makes portability less of a problem. Love your chops!🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹
Absolutely, the 760 is a great Leslie. Not surprised at all that yours is still going strong, they’re tough cookies. Had one years ago and very regretfully sold it. Thank you!
So damn cool! I love it! My EHX Lester G will have to do for now.
Hammond tone generator oil and Leslie motor oil are NOT the same. Please do not use interchangeably. Use the correct oil. great video! Cheers!!
Thank you for clarifying. I’ll definitely get some Leslie oil.
@@soundacresstudio Car motor oil for leslie works just fine. Its all about viscosity.
One of the bests tutorials I ever seen. Very nice played, btw.
Thank you, I really appreciate that!
My sounds cut off a little when I layer… do you think I have to adjust the velocity curve ?
Hi, thanks for your question. I doubt it would help much with adjusting velocity curve. However it's the range function I would be playing around with to help with polyphony. For example if you can limit some of the lower frequency instruments to the lowest octave, the more mid-range frequency instruments to the middle octaves and so on. Ive had to wrestle with that myself but limiting range is what Ive found to work best. Hope this helps!
Another whiner YT wanna be wasting peoples time.
Its really unfortunate that you feel this way. I'm sorry to have taken a few moments from your life. Here's to you getting the therapy you need to fully recover from your terrible ordeal.💜
Beautiful tone and beautiful playing, LOVE the Leslie sound. Great use of the speed too
I really appreciate that, thank you!
I would appreciate it more if it weren't so dark
Thank you for taking the time to give your feedback. The channel is still in its infancy and I will be continuing to make improvements based on comments like yours. Thank you again.
I agree with this 100%
Oh boy. Now I want one. Sigh…
Best of luck, it can happen👍.
I spoke too soon about the pitchbend wheel. It seems people are having problems with the Modx+ too. According to one CZcamsr it’s the pots that are the problem.
I went for the ModX I've been at a concert played by a great artist. Organ, piano... Thanks 🙏
Its a wonderful instrument, enjoy!
Great to hear a Leslie in action again. Your playing here reminds me of a band called Nektar from 50 years ago check out Remember the Future part 1 and the area around the 3rd section of the LP side 'Falling Down". czcams.com/video/pq7WzAdmwnQ/video.html
Thank you! Just heard. Remember The Future’s now a new favorite for me!
It's an 76-note keyboard and he could hold it in one hand. I have a MODX 6 (and yes, it's "Moe-Dee-X") and it's as light as an acoustic guitar. Yet, sound and build quality is superb. No, it's not a Montage. It's 90% of a Montage for 40% of the money. I had a Montage 7 and bought the MODX for playing out. I soon realized the Montage was now, for me, redundant. So, I sold it.
Video too dark. Can't see anything well.
Thanks, sorry about that. It’s just me at the moment doing the filming and everything else, i did notice it was a bit dark towards the middle of the video. Still working on the lighting.
Josh, what would you say is the best Leslie speaker application for guitar? Would you simply drive these speakers with any amp? I've only had experience with the guitar combo amp they came out with around ten years ago, but have since discontinued.
Hey man, thank you for the question. In my opinion, Leslie speakers like the model 825 which are monoral (1 speaker and one baffle) offer the loudest and most intense effect for guitar because it doesn’t rely on a crossover which has to divide the incoming signal between the horn and bass baffle in a typical Leslie. That is the downside to my 910 because the crossover sends the low frequency signals only to the bottom rotor while it sends only the high frequencies to the horn. This gives the sound separation but also a significant drop in volume unfortunately. For instance if I was to run the guitar through the 910 it will divide the signal between the two rotors but for guitar I’d rather have it go through a single bass rotor with the signal intact and undivided. That’s my preference for guitar. I have an old internal Leslie I salvaged from a Wurlitzer that I want to rig up for guitar but it’s a hassle to get the wiring correct. Thanks man, hope you are well brother.
Yes those combo preamps are very hard to get now. A clean Fender tone would sound amazing, even slightly driven.
I hope they have upgraded the terrible MODX6 keybed.....does anyone know? And does MODX+ have a proper organ yet?
Keybed's good. Organs...not so much.
I've looked and they don't mention if the whole bed is better for the 6 and 7 vs the 6+ and 7+. They just talk about the mate finish on the flats
I will grab a 145 at some point, used to run a 760 (solid state) for years, stopped playing for about two decades, marriage etc. and now 5 years after the divorce I'm back again, though not aiming for pro-work this time, just keeping it as a nice passion/hobby thing instead. But still, yes, can't beat a real big blowing box o your neck!
Right on man! More power to you and yes, that wind is a beautiful thing especially in summer😎
I own a kurzweil pc2 and roland xp30 both full expanded. Now I have just bought a moxf6 for gigging while going lighter - amazing yammy sounds, they only lack a bit of punch compared to competitors, probably requiring some output level/gain adjustments. In the future I might opt for a modx7 when prices are lower. Nice grab, enjoy this great machine.
Agreed, I find a similar difference with my Roland RDNX300, the sounds just cut through better in a mix for some reason.
Do go for the Modx 6. It seems like a keyboard toy compared to Mofx 6😂 Grab the 7 version 👍🏻
Sounds a bit like Zappa. Sounds good!
Love Frank, yes!
PLEASE do not use "DeOxit" on the faders. (I'm begging you). Please use Fader Lube. I can't tell you how many Tascams and Yamahas I've repaired over the past few years that have completely eaten up their faders with DeOxit. You actually have to rebuild them if they get too far gone. Just use Fader Lube, and you'll be good to go.
Thank you so much for this. I will definitely reflect your suggestion in my future videos on the matter. You are 100 percent correct.
