And thank you for the sacrifice of your airmen who protected the UK during the Battle of Britain, Liverpool being a city that you helped to protect during this time. Do you know there was a docudrama about Alexander Dubcek many years ago about the Russian invasion in 1968 and Liverpool town hall was used to represent the Kremlin as apparently it is very similar inside😮. Fantastic video as always guy’s 😂😂😂 and yes ban the costumes in Prague, although my wife and I never saw any when we were there. I am an American. For the most part, we are clueless of history .... unless it was made into a movie or a TV series. lol Many people think the US sent an occupation force to various European countries after WW II to make them our puppets. That is far, far from the truth. The Western European countries joined the Bretton Wood agreement, the US would become their security guarantor. Many countries remembered how the UK and France defended their "allies" (like Czechoslovakia and Poland). As a result, they demanded the presence of US troops on their soil. Any military person can tell you tha the number of US troops in Europe was a order of magnitude too small to act as a defensive force. That is because they were not there to defend Western Europe. They were to be a tripwire. If the Soviets decide to invade Western Euorpe, they will need to attack US troops. The theory was that even if the US politicians were willing to abandon Western Europe to the Soviets, the American People wouldnot tolerate a US politician that even hesitates to defend Europe. Failing to rush troops to Europe would be carrer suicide (and possible be suspected as a Communist spy or mole). The only reason the US does not have permanently stationed troops in the Baltic States is the belief that Russia is unlikely to invaded them (at least in the immediate future) and teh desire not to politically escalate the situation and potentially start a major troop beuild up on both sides of the border. Instead, the US is "rotating" some troops through the Baltic States. On a lighter note, a charlatan and a poet both need to be creative.

    Places around "irish pubs" in Prague are pretty much no go zones, you really don't want to be there when some stupid Brits have their parties there. Our politicians should finally do something against this kind of "tourism" but they don't have balls like in Venice do actually do something.

    im over here in the USA, so I had no idea Czechia was a famous party place! Thanks, i know where to get drunk next time!! Just kidding, I love your vids, and don't forget that Hitler loved all the things conquering Czech republic got him, he got gun manufacturers and tanks and gold. The Czech army did not oppose Hitler as he took over. So there is some wiggle room regarding how much of a victim Czechoslovakia actually was. Dont forget that Half of austria straight invited Hitler in to take their land.... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Occupation_of_Czechoslovakia_(1938%E2%80%931945)

    • @stevemcgowen
      @stevemcgowen Před dnem

      CR had a small army and fighting the natc horde would have been pointless after Chamberlain sold out Czechoslovakia. Just in 1938 Hitler had over 230,000 Czech Jews murdered and you don't think Czechoslovakia was a victim? Let's not forget the Lidice massacre and others.

    • @Pidalin
      @Pidalin Před dnem

      And what do you think Czechoslovakia was supposed to do when we were surrounded by enemies (all countries around us were enemiese in 1938, even Poland), our industry was already given to hitler and we were literally told that if we resist, we will be seen as aggressors? You can't do anything in such situation when you know that nobody will help you, it would be a whole nation suicide for us. And people who sabotated V2 rockets were the same heros as actual soldiers on front! Don't forget about them, these slave workers in nazi factories were risking whole their families, because when nazis marked you as a saboter or traitor or jew, they executed your whole family or even burned your whole village.

      And what would Prague look like now if they had resisted German and Austrian invasion by themselves? It would have been flattened just like Warsaw....The Czechs made the right decision under the circumstances. Difficult as it may be for a US-American to understand with your war-mongering and weapon-loving "culture", fighting and violence are not the right answer.

    Last summer, my wife and I traveled through central Europe, including Prague. In almost every city on our trip we encountered young British men having these stag parties. It was perhaps most egregious in Krakow, PL. At 3am we heard English football chants, and witnessed young british men urinating on medieval buildings. As an American, who flew more than 12 hours and spent considerable money on the trip, this was shocking. Locals explained that for the Brits, this was a cheap (100-200GBP airfare) weekend trip to a location with cheap booze and less accountability compared to back home. This explains why many locals were relieved or even excited to learn we were Americans and not English. LOL

      It's still a mystery for me why they act like that, but a lot of people who studiet in UK or even France say that they are very uncivilised, rude and loud, I mean young people, not those classic oldschool gentlemen who almost don't exist anymore. Everyone who returned says that here in Czechia, we are much more civilised, polite and have generally better good manners than they have in the UK or France. Actually US tourists are good I would say, most of them are pensioners who really want to see something and they spend a lot of money, so they are good tourists, we need especially these tourists, not stag party people who arrive by bus, go to pub and leave next day.

    • @stevemcgowen
      @stevemcgowen Před 23 hodinami

      @@Pidalinthey do act like this in England as well. For a nation who drink so much the English can’t handle alcohol. The biggest problem is it is cheaper for them to come here on a 25 euro east jet and have a 3 night drinking holiday than drinking at home. Spain is also fed up and are trying to restrict English tourists. Yeah. Most of my friends are in the hospitality industry and they love American tourists. They tip well and are civilized. Norwegians are at the top of the favored tourist list. They spend a lot of money drinking and eating and shopping. An interesting fact is that thousands and thousands of Czechs came to see his coffin and pay their respects because he improved their lives. Historical facts.
