There is a terrific Czech novel called I Served The King of England, by Bohumil Hrabal, in which this is part of the story. It was made into a movie in 2009.
Thank you for watching guys! We did not mention how to get to Veltusy in this video, but if any of you would like to visit, there is a bus that goes there from Prague (we found it via Google Maps), but it is scheduled only a couple times a day. The ride was 45 minutes long. We had to get an Uber back to Prague, which was around a 20-minute ride and cost us 500 czk, otherwise, we'd wait 4 hours for the next bus.
Veltrusy is located close to Panenské Břežany which you might remember from our video about the Butcher of Prague. A very interesting coincidence...
Or after visiting this place, cross the river to Nelahozeves and see Dvořák's birth house, the local chateau and then take the train back to Prague.
You also a bit mixed up with our beautiful little towns called Břežany, Dolní is on the other side of Prague, this one is Panenské.
@@Dqtube thank you. Fixed the name (we literally filmed video in Panenské Břežany about Heydrich, so don’t know how we got that mixed up). Oh well 😅
Apparently two buses go to Veltrusy from Kobylisy, If you search for Veltrusy zamek you find their site which has an English translation, but no mentioning of how to get there by public transport.

I’m deeply shocked and very surprised that the Norwegian authorities treated the infants of this sick experiment so appallingly badly after the war. They were entirely innocent little children - not possessed demons! If they had then been brought up in adopted Norwegian families, with no mention of their past, they would’ve been valuable contributors to Norwegian society, as much as any other Norwegian child. Nazism is an evil ideology, not a genetic condition.
Thanks very much for this content. It can't have been easy for you to make. Beautiful old places can often hide dark stories, but it is only when you have your 'eyes open' that you can really appreciate a place for what it is.

Love the idea of story telling around places in Czech Republic which are not only beautiful, but also have a dark past. Truly well done! Saw recently a documentary about a Polish man who is around 85 y/o and was kidnapped as a kid and raised as German. Unbelievable! Pozdrawiam 😊
I believe that was the story of the mentioned in the video Roman Roszatowski (aka Hermann Lüdeking) who fights in German courts for recognition for his and similar fates of others

A favourite relative of mine has shared her later life for many years with an expat German who almost certainly is 1 of those unfortunate kids. A really decent bloke but his life has been discoloured at times by his origins. Luckily they are very happy and settled in their declining years.

What an amazing presentation...in our day and age it seems many wish to rewrite the past horrors of Nazi Eugenics reality of 1940's so presenting these places as hard evidence and telling their stories is so important. And this is so well done. The ghosts are still echoing the past.
