Top 10 BEST STOPMOTION Movie Characters
Always liked this series. Rod Serling was the best.
FINALLY, A NEW UPLOAD!!! One of the best of the hour-long episodes! I wouldn't what would've happened if say Martin's boss said that aside from finding a seller of the wax dummies, he also would recommend Martin as the museum tour guide overseas?? What could've been...
I've always found this one creepy. One of the best hour-longs.
The New Exhibit. I have ... mixed feelings about this one. For one thing, it's too long and we're just waiting for the wax figures to murder the supporting cast and set up where Serling was going with his intro. For another, it's just not framed very well. SPOILER ALERT.... .. .. .. .. .. .. .. If the story was setting up that MARTIN actually killed everyone, it failed since the wax figures are clearly shown committing the murders. My theory was that was the point. The wax figures DID murder everyone, and then they drove Martin crazy by telling Martin that HE was actually the murderer. It just doesn't work as it should have. And the real murderers get away with yet another crime on their records, but no one will ever know since they gave full credit to someone else. That said, it's still Martin Balsam, and he does sell the character, even if the logic of the episode falls apart long before the halfway point. It is interesting to see Balsam play the unstable murderer for a change. But, consider -- Martin Senescu is already somewhat disturbed at the start of the story, and it would have been quite appropriate if Martin had fantasized that the wax figures are protecting Martin by murdering all who threatened them. But, if they had filmed the murders keeping the wax figures obscured to lead to the suggestion that it MIGHT have been Martin, the episode might have worked better. And the episode IS too long. There are just enough characters so we can get a murder every ten minutes and have enough material to cover a 50 minute episode. But the effort to get the victims one by one into the cellar shows, and it is just too much. The episode as aired is not bad, but it would have been so much better if they had put more thought into the setup. Fun fact: Martin's wife Emma is played by Maggie Mahoney, alias Margaret Field, the mother of Sally Field. She married Jock Mahoney, stuntman and star of Yancy Derringer. Sally was born from a previous marriage.
Fantastic vid FDT. Sounds like a great episode to me.
Hey Biz, hope you've been well man. Thanks for checking in! Have a good one!
Anthony, glad to see this latest one, but unfortunately don't have much to say about the episode but that it's creepy good. I will note that the knife in Jack's hand is real and that the button/switch on the platform works...at least for the first murder, could his poor wife have simply stepped on the device and accidentally got herself killed? It's a sign that he's losing it, that he is more inclined to believe in a waxwork come to life than an accident moving a simple animatronic that he well knows can be triggered by the push/step of a button... I wonder how they explained Martin's death, since clearly the old boss didn't kill anyone...was Martin crazy and sent to the electric chair only thinking the wax figures attacked him, so he and we have no pov after the zurg rush? Ah well. Just me rambling. Keep up the great work, and stay hydrated, another heat dome over the tri-state area tomorrow around the high nineties, even 100 or so. Stay safe!
Thank you for your work not many people cover these old shows❤
My pleasure, I'm actually happy there's so many more episodes to explore. Thanks dbrooks!
Another superb review by the modern Rod Serling....very creepy episode.
Hey Patrick, thanks, I appreciate the kind words! Have a great week ahead man. 👊
@@FeverDreamlandTheater This is one of best true horror episodes in the series. Wax figures are a very effective as many people are freaked out by them
Yo, what's up FDT! I know Season 4 of the Twilight Zone is divisive among fans, but this is hands down my favorite season 4 episode. I feel like if there's ever a museum of modern serial killers there'd be wax figures of Ted Bundy, John Wayne Gacy, Jeffrey Dahmer and the Zodiac Killer. Speaking of which the way Martin obsesses over the wax figurines is very unsettling because it reminds me how people admire serial killers to the point of being a fan. I study serial killers not because I condone what they've done, but to understand their backgrounds, psychology and motivations to kill. Another brilliant review!
Great job. This is a fantastic episode. The wax figures were really creepy when I was a kid.
Thanks I really enjoy your videos
Yay!!! You’ve made me so happy!! This is one of my favorite episodes! This episode is actually the first episode that my fiancé and I watched together. My fiancé was familiar with my love of true crime (I listen to podcasts about true crime to help fall asleep) but as we watched the episode, I was fighting to keep from sharing cool facts I had learned about these killers. But he noticed the excitement on my face and joked “Maybe I should go through your mail. Don’t want to see a hefty insurance policy with you as the beneficiary and me as the victim.” It was such a fun memory.
Im Glad when you hit the Algorithm Yeah
🔥🔥🔥🔥 another banger as usual
Thanks for bringing some attention to one of my favourite episodes! 😁
I really liked this one. It felt great and it's pace was very well done. I had no problem with the reveal, personally.
Martin is not the villain, the statues were. It's the "twist", they were alive all along. Martin loved his boss, it's why he finally snaps. And he comes out of his denial and realizes that these things were evil incarnated.
That's how I've seen others interpret this as well. I'm actually very curious to see how others feel about the twists and turns in this one. Thanks hymnsarebeautiful!
I always felt both sorry and a bit unnerved by Martin, how some people sympathize/rationalize with not-so-great people (to put it mildly). Like his passion is admirable but goes too far with covering up the figures' deeds. Also agreed with the figures being "alive" being a delusion, that makes sense logically. I liked that connection to Psycho as well! Another great vid! Bravo! ❤
Feva! Another classic and one of the best from season 4. Martin Balsam was a beast no matter what did. I like to think this gave birth to Wax Work lol always a pleasure thanks for the video. Enjoy your week bro. See you next time
Luke! I agree about Balsam, watching him here put me in a mood to check out '12 Angry Men' or one of the other movies he appeared in. This was at least one of the earlier shows to delve into the wax killers thing. It's such a creepy concept and makes for perfect horror. Thanks for checking in as always man, have a great week ahead! 🤜🤛
I love this episode!
Hey good to hear, always glad to cover the favorites from fellow TZ fans.
How about the Dj with Artie Johnson
Does anyone know what year Rod Serling died ? Did he have children and grandchildren ? Please post the answer in the comments section.
Well, THIS one wasn't GROUNDBREAKING and GAME CHANGING like the original was in it's day, no. It's pretty much like any other horror movie of it's era (late 80s slash early 90s). But it's pretty decent as REMAKES go, yeah.
There was an episode that had a pile of living/moving trash that had friended a little girl. At least that's how I remember it. That one haunted me for a long time and I've thought of it occasionally over the years. Does this ring a bell?
It sure does, especially since I've recently rewatched the show for this vid and that one stood out. I believe the segment you are talking about was called 'Brenda' it was about a little girl who found a weird creature in the woods.
@@FeverDreamlandTheater seems like they covered it with rocks to "get rid of it". And yet it was still alive. When it moved you could hear swishing sounds. I'll see if I can stream it... or wait... maybe I don't want to? Ha! Still too scary. lol. Thank you for responding.
It is here NOW (2024)
THE BOY WOULD PREDICT. EARTHQUAKES. WAS. BASED. ON THE. 1971. EARTHQUAKE. THAT. HIT. THE. LOS ANGLES. AREA. ) FRB, 9, 1971 )
I dont remember the name of the episode, but it starred Joan Crawford as a blind woman who purchased the eye corneas of a hobo.
The Painted Mirror episode stuck with me all these years. Where all the paintings used in the shows ended up is the subject of a video I saw here on CZcams recently...
Loved these. Part of my childhood ❤
"Wordplay", "The Misfortune Cookie"
My number seven episode of TZ. Chilling performances by both major actors. I don't know if being Jewish affects someone's perspective, though. As a (black) woman said once "everyone has had his or her own holocaust" as bestial as it is. Move on as best you can. Don't let bitterness destroy you. Trust in God❤
I absolutely loved Night Gallery!!❤ It should've went 3 or 4 more seasons.
That would have been awesome! There were lots more stories to adapt that could have been fun or even original ones as well.
The one starring Joan Crawford should have been #1. Hands down, without question.
Great vid. My favorite episode is with Bradford Dillman in Pickman’s Model.
Thanks! Pickman’s Model was another great segment, very eerie & awesome creature-work.
So glad Class Of 99 made the list
on tell david segment i at first thought the couple in the house having a open relationship that the guy was gonna sleep with sandra dee, which when we find out the whole story at the end wouldve been just ewwwww, lol.
Oh noooo, ha ha, yeah that would not have been good at all considering where the story goes. lol
Love your reviews. Glad to hear you're from the Bronx. Fellow New Yorker!
New York representing in here! 🤜🤛 Boom, thanks!
My favorite episode
I'm hear you on that. This one is in my top 5 for sure, maybe even my top 3.
What a groundbreaking and excellent. She is the GrandMa of AI. ❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤
The one about the brooch that turns into blood sucking bug, the lady that had the green thumb, and the eaters of the dead or something like that.
“The Cemetery” is my favorite of all episodes. I love the double irony at the end. Rod Serling was famous for his irony. Most all of my favorites were episodes written by Rod Serling.
Love Joan Crawfords episode
The one where the nice old depressed man desperately wants to go into a beautiful painting. He leaves. If I got this wrong, set me straight. A tortured ex-Nazi, repentent for what he's done, followed him and gets the idea to go into the same painting. He breaks in later that night. Cut to the next morning, and two museum employees hear screaming. They see the frozen image of a terrified man in a horrific painting of a Nazi war camp! It's the ex-Nazi! Earlier we saw a scene of him in the darkened museum, begging to go into the beautiful scene picture. The employees talk about having to move the paintings around the day before (I forget why). They are totally freaked out. And so was I at 14! And that THEME MUSIC!
One of my favorite segments was called There Aren't Any More MacBanes with Joel Grey. Really creepy back in 1972.
That was a solid one too! I had a few quick clips here from that one because I loved the visuals in that segment.
Creepy factor of 100
Very hit or miss, but when they were good oh man were they amazing...
Hey there, FDT, do you remember the 1970s horror show called "Circle of Fear"?
No not yet, I can't wait to check it out, a few people have recommend it. Thanks!
Wow! Thanks so much for doing this one! Night Gallery is absolutely my all time favourite horror type TV show, it's hands down the best all around and I will never grow bored with it, so much gathered in these three seasons, most of it highly entertaining but all worth watching.
Thanks Arch! Glad you enjoyed it!
Nice piece. I used to enjoy the humerous segue vignettes heading into a commercial!
