Drill To Switch To A Body Swing vs. Arms Swing
In this tip I am showing you a drill you can do to switch to a body swing vs. and arms swing. If you want to learn the powerful, effortless, pain-free swing that I teach you need to hit the ball with your body not your arms. To do that, you need to change the way you think.
I say this because in golf the ball is stationary. This means that as you reach the top of your backswing you will try to hit hard with your arms. This is due to human nature telling you to hit the ball hard with your arms. This is not what pros are doing and will never work. So a body swing vs. and arms swing is the way to go.
So here is a drill you can to switch to a body swing vs arms swing. This is not a drill to hit perfect shots. It's a drill to switch you to using your body not your arms. So watch this tip and start working on it right away. You can do this at the range or at home. The more you do it, the faster you will learn a body swing.

Easy Way To Loosen Up (Do This Before Each Shot)
zhlédnutí 28KPřed 7 měsíci
So many golfers I see are too tight before they hit their shots. I got thinking about this not too long ago and this is just an easy way to loosen up before each shot. Everyone marvels at an effortless golf swing. It looks simple and easy and hits the ball a mile usually straight. So everyone knows this swing and wants this swing so what do they do? They step up and try to hammer it as hard as ...
Are You Too Tight In Your Backswing (Here's How To Check)

So many golfers I see are too tight as they go into their backswing. If you are tight going back how do you loosen up on the way down? If you are too tight going back you will be too tight as you hit the ball. This tightness leads to locking your wrists, sending you over the top, causes a chicken wing which adds loft etc. Here's a simple way you can check if you are too tight as you go in the b...

Senior Golfers (Get Your Body Moving For More Distance)

You have provided me something I was missing through all the other avenues I was exploring in learning about golf, and that is a truly step-by step approach to learning a great swing. You show how to build it up in an efficient and enjoyable manner. You are not all over the place. I'm feeling like I'm building a rock solid foundation that will serve me the rest of my golfing life. Thank you very much Paul! And to anyone who might be on the fence about getting his course, I'm telling you it's an incredible value for the marginal cost.

  • @DermConsult
    @DermConsult Před 2 dny

    This is one of your best tips Paul. Focusing on brushing the grass gives you the correct path, keeps your head behind the ball, ensures body tilt and provided you rotate your body you wont top the ball. Surprisingly it also works for irons but I have always taken a shallow divot. It was very easy to take it to the course without a lot of practice beforehand. I look at your videos while working out on an exercise bike and have never been disappointed. Anyone who does not subscribe to your body swing course really is not serious about playing good golf.

    • @paulwilsongolf
      @paulwilsongolf Před 2 dny

      Well ... you either did not watch the tip or did not listen to the tip. I explained numerous reasons why in the tip. Do me a favor set up an alignment stick perfectly on target. Align squarely then hit some shots. I guarantee you are pulling/pull hooking it unless you started golf as a kid and have minimum 45 degrees hip rotation at impact. 1. It shuts the face. Can't have loose wrists with a shut face otherwise you will hook it off the planet. To stop the hook you tighten the wrists or aim right. Tight wrists as an older golfer you will literally hit he ball nowhere. 2. The best players of all time did not have a bowed wrist. 3. Bowed wrist is not dominating golf. Scheffler is (not bowed). 4. Need minimum of 45 degrees hip rotation at impact to square the face. If the average person has their hips open 10 degrees at impact that's a miracle. 5. Hurts most people's wrists (mine and my assistant included). So there are a bunch of reasons. If it works for you and you like it keep doing it. I would never teach this to anyone.

      @leswolstenholme4925 Před 2 dny

      @@paulwilsongolf I quite understand and having this debate on several occasions, it seems that the divot is only an indication that the hands were forward so achieving the correct face angle at contact - is this correct.? This is exactly my problem I think I was coming over the top hitting pulls where I should have had my head behind the ball more, what a great tip can't wait to try this at the range tomorrow

      Yes head behind the ball is key. Need the backwards tilt to get the path: czcams.com/video/mp8MriLZ4sg/video.html czcams.com/video/UicfEiofJis/video.html czcams.com/video/GF7JQHr2hhw/video.html czcams.com/video/m8FxSZSmKEw/video.html czcams.com/video/N07xdiQtKCI/video.html czcams.com/video/p6YWiBPnQqI/video.html czcams.com/video/XuuHte-Y3yM/video.html czcams.com/video/OHSciOQ15AE/video.html czcams.com/video/2cPM_FSoHNM/video.html

      For sure give it a try. Shoes are Ecco street. They don't make them anymore. I have one pair left. Should have bought even more. Now Ecco keeps making these weird looking shoes.

    I’m a 55 year old guy. Went out and played today and tried that bowed wrist for the first time. My front 9 was horrible. For the back 9, I went back to what I knew before, and played a whole lot better!! I wish I’d seen this vid earlier! At least I know now.😅

    • @paulwilsongolf
      @paulwilsongolf Před 2 dny

      Well, you can say you tried it. Funny I get a few people saying "why would you tell people not to do that?". Mind boggling how a few good golfers (who never had lessons do it and now the whole world is teaching it. I give thinks the Nicklaus, Hogan, Nelson test. If they did then do it. No of them were bowed. Why would you teach something the best of all time didn't do. Stick with what you were doing. Loosen your arms and wrists and you will be hitting it amazingly in no time.

    I watch this stuff and I'm amazed how evolved they already were in golf so long ago. I would kill to have that beautiful of a swing and this is like what? The 1920's or 30s?

    Dear Paul, the picture of the speedometer, slowing down from 100 to 0 in the downswing works incredibly well for me. The vast majority of amateur golfers is probably more than aware of the instruction „Refrain from hitting the ball as hard as you can“. However, it’s a big difference between „intellectually understanding“ and „successfully implementing“. Great teachers like you, perfectly know that and literally go the extra mile to offer additional support for their students, in this case, the speedometer concept👏🏼🥇👍🏼. Please keep up the great work, best wishes from Germany🇩🇪.

      Glad you picked up on this one. Just made sense to me back when I got it and was hoping others could relate to it. Got to imagine going from hitting as hard as I could to swinging easy was a huge change. This presented incredibly different feelings. Keep feeling the same thing you always feel and you will always do the same swing. Need to change to do the new thing. Keep at it.

    Should I allow my left wrist to cup on the way back? Anatomically my left wrist can't bend without significant cupping and I thought that was a bad thing at the top.

    What would be the most popular outcome if the knee stayed straight. I’m thinking this is my problem. Could this also be the cause to laying off at top?

    • @paulwilsongolf
      @paulwilsongolf Před 2 dny

      Left knee or right knee? I am letting people straighten the back knee a little going back to help them coil. Laying it off? Easy. Need more depth. Mr. Wilson, thank you for this game changing method. For over 35 years I've been trying to get a nice, smooth classic swing. You cite Els and I'll include Couples, they have my favorite effortlessly silky smooth swings that I've always admired. A couple of years ago I lost part of my leg and have to work back to playing form. Oddly enough, before the surgery, I've been trying to slow down my swing close to how you describe and I'm finding myself feeling my shots much better than I ever have. Per your video instructions I've lately been trying your technique with my irons and immediately felt an improvement. I don't have the precise mechanics down yet because I'm doing this now with a prosthetic but it clearly works. I play Titleist 690mb blades and my 2i is one of my fave clubs in the bag. With your method I really feel that ball jumping off the face of the club and whole swing is just light years easier to manage. Even with my limited balance I can still end up with great, even follow through. I love it and can't wait to get back out on the course. Again, thank you for this fantastic instruction! Cheers!

      @paulwilsongolf Před 2 dny

      Sorry to hear about your issue but glad to hear you are trying my stuff and seeing how anyone can do this and hit it amazingly well with minimal effort. Nice sticks you have there. 2 iron. Love it. You don't have those clubs if you weren't a decent player. Stay focused on what I am saying and keep practicing it. You will be able to play great golf forever. As I always say, you don't have to be strong to be loose! I am getting power through looseness not physical strength. Couple this with a little body turn and you've got it.
