Saw this in theatres with my best friends.. you could see our posture change throughout the film from laid back and excited at the beginning, and gradually leaning more and more forward in concentration until we ended the film with two of us standing arms crossed, staring at the screen mouths open. 🤣 (We were sitting back row and were one of only two groups in the theatre so we weren’t blocking anyone)

There were such mixed feelings out in the world about this movie, I waited for this review before deciding to see it. I'm definitely going to check it out now. Thank you.

Am I the only one that thinks Stewart can't act? She is the exact same in every role, even when they force her into an action thriller instead of just another love interest part. I can't see the appeal honestly.

I truly had a blast watching this film but I do not think I could watch it again. I could handle all the jaw stuff and loved hearing the audience reactions but that toe sucking scene was an absolute NO

My first thought reading the title was "wasn't that the fake movie from Final Destination 3D". And I probably could have googled to fact-check myself but I'll keep that head-canon unquestioned.

Why does that rolling pin look like a hotdog drawn by someone who’s had the concept vaguely explained to them?

A+ point about the agent - like she could just be dope at her job sans the sexual "favours" which yes is a thing that has been called out, but in this context it feels a bit like punching down to me- like "there's no way this awesome opportunity came via skill, so we got some favours for favours shit"

So let me give you a short exposition on my nightmare, which still stars a teddy bear, mine from when I was a kid: basically, at some point, it lost one of its eyes. One year ago, I dreamed that it was alive, like Ted, and at some point, it wanted to rip out my eye to replace it with its lost one. And this is much better than this shit which is Imaginary.

I'm a life long fan of Siskel & Ebert and intimate exposure to codependent relationships, and my girlfriend has worked in behavioral health including substance abuse for decades, and we both think that your review of this spot on movie is spot on; love the South Park reference. I wish I could get feedback form the writer and director of the movie on your review, and also ask them if in any way this movie might be an homage to the sci-fi classic movie Attack Of The 50 Foot Woman along with the imagery that seems to be inspired by the Incredible Hulk comic/MCU franchise. Tangent question, did you do a review of the recent MCU series She Hulk?

I really, really, REALLY wanted to love this movie, it was so in my wheelhouse it's not even funny... but I really only loved the middle portion. The opening act was fine but kinda fell flat and didn't build up any emotional connection before going right into the "gay crime" phase. Once in that phase things really started clicking along and I definitely had a blast with the whole middle part. But then the big finale also just didn't work at all and all of the tension was sucked out of the room while also once again returning to the emotionally flat tone of the first act. By the end of the movie, I literally did not care even 1% about any character AT ALL, save Kristen Stewart's, and hers I only cared about due to Kristen's superb acting, and I simply didn't want HER to die because without her magnetic performance, I couldn't see a single reason to keep watching. It was soul-crushingly disappointing because I allowed myself to get hyped, thinking that between Kristen, Rose Glass, and A24, there was virtually zero chance of this movie letting me down - but that is exactly what it did. There was a good stretch of the middle that I truly did love, but they say you gotta start strong and finish strong, but this movie did the exact opposite. Started weak, got good, then just fizzled out. Damn shame, too, because it was SOOOOO close to being the movie I hoped, but alas it was not meant to be. EDIT: BTW, Jackie absolutely DID try to shoot Lou, you hear her pull the trigger and the gun clicks - it was empty or jammed. But Jackie definitely did pull the trigger, and the sound is what prompts Lou to deliver that INCREDIBLE reaction.

This is an interesting rant that would be more interesting if the creator had actually created something someone else could rant about. Sad. Also, it appears that there’s confusion about the fact that good authors can use bad characters to explore morality.

I thought it was pretty good, but after Happiest Season, it was the second queer movie in a row where I felt bad for Kristen Stewart ending up with the girl she loved. Can't she get a healthy sapphic relationship, with a partner who isn't emotionally or physically abusive?

Not sure if it's because I was tired when I saw this but I didn't like the surreal moments they kinda took me out. I got what they were going for but it was odd choice not a horrible one but just not my thing. Great movie overall. Also I didn't know magazine dreams was a Johnathan Majors film now I get why it's likely not coming out.

The ending worked for me, I wished it went further while watching but him now having to live with the fact that he can be that powerless is a sweet and satisfying enough ending
