Well isn't this just a lil ramble of a video - leave a comment if you enjoyed for the algorithm overlords!
I love rambling. It’s how I talk and my preferred method of consuming content
Too much construction to your life creates brittle points where order fails you. I enjoyed it. Please remember to lift with your legs when handling those bigger household cleanups. If you have to fly to see movies, you want to protect your spine.
I love all your videos, no matter the topic or content. I remember going to watch See How They Run in theaters last year and loved it and was shocked that not even a couple weeks after its entry into theaters it was just as quickly taken out and not even put on the popular streaming sites or DVD. I couldn't find it anywhere to save my life but it was SO good. I don't know why it didn't get as much love or why it pretty much disappeared off the planet, but it just came to mind when you mentioned how some movies don't get a wide release and slip under the radar just because they don't make it to Barbie status.
I did enjoy the video.
That hit was the Netflix manager responsible for being overly restrictive about The Killer being in cinemas?
Great video about a great movie❤
An ideas-video inside of a behind-the-scenes video inside of a justifying-your-decision video inside of a review video-video. A perfect Wednesday. 😁
Different than usual but I had fun!
Way to Tropic Thunder that. Very well done.
Love the assassin skit during the explanation on this one! I’m convinced she traveled for a kill and not just to see the killer 😂
Fassbender is really good at playing a psychopath. Like, unsettlingly good.
Hmm, suspicious...
Especially when he played Steve Jobs
Even more unsettlingly if you read the story of how viciously he abused his ex-girlfriend
@@poppyred6405he did not abuse the girlfriend you idiot he got jealous of an ex boyfriend and had a fight with him! People like you need to research and stop spreading misinformation!
@@poppyred6405 i just read everything nothing was proven and she even withdrew the court papers she filed, a lot of what she said also doesn't add up its crazy how nothing was proven at all yet people assume he's guilty
When I saw the title I thought you meant they were only airing it as an in-flight movie. What you actually did makes more sense.
I thought the same thing about the title
Glad it wasn't just me 😂
same lmao
This was my thought too.
Same 😂
The twitch at the end may also imply that somewhere along the path of revenge - most likely from sharing a drink with The Expert, he ingested a chemical that would lead to facial necrosis, and his slow death. This was foreshadowed throughout the film, even showing a coffee being made at the end- just after threatening Claymore with killing him in that same manner. Great detail.
😮
His eye was twitching in the beginning. If you watch the moment he was about to take the shot and misses, his eye twitches right before the shot. It's easier to see if you slow it down
Imo it meant, I'm now retired I should relax and enjoy a peaceful life with my wife but I'm still a sociopath and I can't relax
Pretty sure that’s not how it works
I thought it was him getting some cracks in his perfect facade but facial necrosis is a really good idea too.
I really liked the format of this video. The assassin skit was funny and the vlog clips were kind of refreshing. I hope you get to do more fun stuff/ experiment with your content😊
I was thinking the same thing! Loved the different styles used in this video. It was funny, and interesting.
The fact you flew to see The Killer is might impressive and I drove 2 hrs to see it in a theater. Damn, the dedication.
I’m so excited you actually did it! I love that I was there watching stream when you were joking about it and talked yourself into doing it! Hope it was worth it!
Edit: The video is so freaking good! I love the little skits of Amanda the Killer! Plus I saw my own comment on stream, “Do it for the Vine”
Ugh, it was excellent. I was so happy to see a new Fincher film pop up.
Fassbender really did the damn thing and I really enjoyed the soundtrack. That little snippet of Portishead had me on the edge of my seat and then you find the house empty. So good.
When he buys the items in Florida you knew exactly what he was doing and I found it endearing that he wouldn’t hurt the dog. Made me think he really did care about the girlfriend.
Ya, I can’t imagine watching Titanic for the first 13 times I saw it in theaters, at home. There’s just something about watching a movie in theaters. The coming attractions, the sharing of emotions with your fellow watchers, the smell & sound of people eating popcorn. And then walking out of the dark, into the light changed, sometimes forever by what you just watched. It really is a magical experience.
I still remember being the little sister, tagging along on my brother's movie date. Right at the scene where Jack/Leo appears all cleaned up, the projector overheated. The image froze on his face/shoulders, then we saw it bubble & melt apart on the screen. This happened twice. Not a bad time.
Oh man. I am such a low energy person, just watching you go through all that effort to see a movie is exhausting. Major props for committing to the bit so hard.
I loved this film. Fincher’s camera and Fassbender’s acting had me locked in from the first shot to the last. It’s not the groundbreaking event of a Seven or Fight Club, but that’s fine. It’s just Fincher practicing and perfecting his craft, that alone makes it better than like 90% of the films we got this year.
I was really hyped for The Starling Girl but it wasn’t playing in any theater near me so I drove 8 hours to a tiny theater in a different state, watched the movie, and drove 8 hours back. It was worth it if only for the bit lolol
Making my fifteen minute walk to see it in theaters feel unimpressive
Didn't expect The Killer to be the film that got Amanda to fly over to watch, but glad you did. This film felt refreshing despite how monotone it is. You get invested in the killer's methods and self lies only to see him lose control more often than not. Did not realize that twitch in the end though, that changes so many things.
I really didn't enjoy this movie. Not only was the film dull, but there was no tension, the plot was pretty uneventful, and I found it impossible to root for Michael Fassbender's character. He was an amoral psychopath who murders innocent people, has messed up principles and his motivations for revenge were weak and hypocritical. It didn't feel like he was righting a wrong or going on some moral crusade, after the fallout of him botching his latest job. He just felt like murdering the people who hurt someone he cared about, while completely missing the irony that he kills people for a living. I slogged through two hours of bland screenwriting, hoping that by the end of it all he will get his comeuppance. But it never happened. Instead, after leaving behind a trail of bodies, he and his girlfriend get to live happily ever after.
The main character is contract killer, you're not supposed to root for him
I misheard "a neurotic professional" as "an erotic professional" and got remarkably confused for a moment... Time for sleep! 😂
this is hilarious. living for it.
Very brave of you to gamble with Air Canada. I’ve had half a a few friends have their luggage lost, half a dozen or so have had flights canceled with no notice and been stuck. I would’ve taken the drive lol just for the security of guaranteed travel.
Wasn't Air Canada! But I've only had really bad luck with them once, but I also never check luggage
I got to see this with a Q&A with Fincher after, and it was one of the best theater experiences I've had.
The commitment to travel to Toronto to watch a David Fincher movie is the chef kiss of content creating!
Good life decisions were clearly made! I'm also a fan of Fincher and always love to see Fassbender at work, so both combined, with Tilda Swinton thrown in? Yes please! The premise sounds kind of like a dark comedy, always enjoy those. This is another one of your videos I'll have to yeet in my 'watch later' list and come back to once I've actually seen the film, thanks for your service~
I actually think he'll commit to his life in retirement. It's his world view, that the Few are the only ones suited to life as an assassin like him, and the events of this movie have shown him that he's actually one of the Many because he got emotionally involved in something he seems to think must remain robotic. So rather than reconsider his world view, he quits. The eye-twitch at the end shows that he hates it, but I really think he would go through with it
I love Amanda's analysis, but I disagree regarding him entirely being a sociopath who only enjoys killing. I think the eye twitch shows that he is struggling to finally settle down, but the fact that he does finally close his eyes after demonstrates that he is willing to retire. The only other time his eye twitches, if I remember correctly, is when the secretary pleads for her life. Therefore, the twitch isn't a sign of him desiring to kill again, but his vulnerability. His eye twitches at the end because, as much as he likes to think that he can have a career as an assassin and then easily quit, he is more affected by the events of the film than he'd care to admit.
Love seeing you play with your format. Same great insight, review, and commentary as always, with the fun skits 👌🏼
I flew to Sydney and back in one day to see Wicked. Sometimes you have to take an opportunity ✈️
"It is those moments before someone dies that i seem to enjoy the most." - Amanda, 2023.
It was wonderful watching the wheels turn on stream, and we get this review just in time to decide whether the movie is worth watching on Netflix. But that's a silly question. Of course it's worth watching. It's David fincher. Even if it's bad, it's worth watching
I am with you re: putting some streaming movies un theatres. I think Coda would have been really successful if they had done a wide release around the oscars.
This is one of the most fun videos because of these little "scenes" you added up. Absolute joy to watch 😂
This queen just crammed in like five things at once in this video and I love her for this lmaoooo.
I don't care if this movie isn't my taste, I'm watching it now.
This video is just what I needed today. Thanks for the creativity and fun with this one, Amanda!
this movie would have been much better served as like a 5 episode mini-series
Lately my top like 10?! CZcamsrs have all slowly started connected to each other through cameos or references making my own youverse and you just brought swell into it and it's wonderful??? ????? ?
Loved the editing on this one Amanda!
wow you went through all this skit while explaining the movie , thats so cool , we appreciate it :)
The commitment to the bit was perfect! Great lil ramble of a video as always!
This whole time I just assumed you were in Toronto, which I will concede is very I-grew-up-near-Toronto of me
I was just thinking I needed a new Amanda vid and this was my first suggested video. Nice
Love that what could have easily been just a fever dream on stream is alnow actually a video! And a great one at that!
It was so fun watching the idea be born and develop into a full blown plan in real time! And seeing my name in chat as proof that I was there for the insanity is just the icing on the cake!
Let's goooooo! 😂
My favorite thing was seeing my country. Greetings from the Dominican Republic 😊
Nice looking country you got there. :-)
Great video!
Well made and informative 👍
I agree with the streaming-theatrical release convo you had at the end. When a movie is basically straight to streaming it makes it feel like a TV movie to me, like its not a "real" movie. It's just not the same.
Thanks Amanda!
I didn't thought it was entertaining. It was like going through a grocery list instead of reading a book.
I watched this movie, and the one scene that I keep thinking about, that I thought was the most real, that absolutely was the best acting for me, was in the elevator when the secretary coughed/laughed/snorted when the guy asked, "need any help getting rid of that body". Her one second reaction covered such a plethora of emotions.
In this video the scene is here: 9:32
This skit was inspired! Loved this video! Hope you feel better :)
OMG I watch your channel so much this is crazy ! Worked on the fx for this movie as part of the ollin vfx team, it was a beautiful experience, the man is such a treat to work with and I'm so happy people are liking it! I know I do!
Such a fantastic video. 😂
I drove two hours to Vegas and two hours back to watch Children of Men.
Totally worth it
I love your work thank you for all of your hard work.😊
That was one of the most interesting reviews I've ever seen in your channel. And that says a lot because I absolutely love your reviews. It was just awesome how you connected moments from your trip to see the movie to the actual movie review. Chef's kiss!
Amanda, I swear to god, your description of this movie is so much more entertaining than the movie itself.
"That's it, that's the video." Bro in my mind I edited you having taken off like 5 pairs of glasses before saying that, in an Amanda from Swell reference lol
Two of my favorite Amandas on the web
I’m from the Bay Area. And nothing was more cool than watching Zodiac in a theater just miles from where it all took place. Not to mention it’s a damn good movie!!
I love how this became an *experience* for you. The movie also sounds great.
Amanda!!!!! Love this format of the video!!
This is amazing
Considering I took a train to Toronto just to see My Kpop Boys (and I don't live in Canada), you taking a plane for the sake of Preserving Culture is a very good reason
I still wish I got that cheesecake at Union Station
I dont always watch the video, just listen, but I'm so glad I did this time for Amanda's fantastic b roll.
I fully misunderstood this as meaning she was only able to watch the movie ON the plane- direct-to-airplane movie release
I have been so excited to see this but because it's Fincher & I have severe anxiety for things I can't see spoilers of I've been holding off on watching it but this was perfect for me!
Loved this movie. Watching it again tonight🎬
Hope you’re feeling better and thanks for journeying for a bit and what sounds like delicious cake.
I haven’t seen the movie yet but I’m 100% sure that your montage of being the niele while recounting what’s going on is more cinematic than the film itself. I’ll still watch it but only cause you went through the trouble of creating such a fun video.
I loved that film. I was sold in the first minutes, and then I was sitting on the edge of my seat for the rest of it. I fucking loved it. And your video is PERFECT!
One of my favourite films of this year (Call Me Chihiro) just got dumped on Netflix with no promotion, I have no idea how I heard about it. So frustrating!
Big Fincher fan here, watched this movie on Netflix just a few days ago. Wasn't disappointed, even though I also wouldn't rank it among my Top 5 Fincher movies. Keep doing what you're doing, Amanda 👍
If anything it can feel amazing seeing something in theaters or events that are limited time.
Mrs. Jedi , Thanks Much !.......
I'm very lucky to live near a Showcase in the UK which shows Netflix and Amazon films thank God, also read an article that Fassbender doesn't blink this entire movie, now I know I have to rewatch it!
This was beautiful and perfect for a day when I'm not ok.
I know it's not the core of the video, but the insert shots of you somewhere besides your office, presenting to camera, were some of the most engaging and interesting shots I've seen in any recent videos I've watched of yours. Your insightful commentary is what I typically watch your videos for, but I would enjoy it plenty if this sort of thing popper up again.
I used to read the comics in my library, but never got the end cuz they stopped adding new issues.
Somehow I don't recognize the story in this. Like... his girlfriend had a son. And they lived in the rain forest. And he got involved with a cartell... And he erased multiple people sent to end him. And a nun. I'm confused. I might watch it, but guess it just shares the title and is loosely based on the comic.
The vlog bits and the assassination skits were excellent. A fun switch on your usual excellent style.
Wow I feel less cocky being able to work in time on a busy Sunday to watch it at home.
Amanda talking about going to the movies for work has the same vibes as me buying and hording WAAY too much yarn but then starting a small crochet business so I can call it "buying stock" 😁😁😁
Yaaaay, for a brief time Amanda was in the same city as me~
(I still have lingering trauma from watching your HC video so def agree on that topic =''D)
Enjoyed the video!
i'm glad all netflix theatrical releases play at 2 cinemas in my city in scotland because i really enjoyed seeing this in a cinema
As I have heard others bring up this reminds me a lot of the HITMAN game. While Agent 47 is much more actually someone who sticks to the plan and is the man our killer wishes to be like. It’s more so the blend of crime drama and comedy that remind me so much of the games
Well, this is gonna be a video I re-watch 😂 Effort acknowledged and appreciated
Fasbender makes everything worth it with his mere presence.
Girl, you’re fine. Me and my husband drove from Quebec City to Montreal in the winter to go and see Super Troopers 2, which is a hilarious film to watch in Quebec.
Killer review, Amanda!
Great video setup and idea, here's to more theatre releases in 2024
Why was this video not in my subscription feed and why did I not get a notification for this?? I love this video style so so much! The editing is fantastic
Thank you! Not sure why this video really didn't seem to get shared on CZcams's end so I swithced up the thumbnail and title so hopefully it pushes it a bit more, glad you enjoyed!
Hope you feel better soon. I enjoyed the film even if I did end up hoping for a couple of smiths songs that didn't feature, the scene with Swinton is great.
i watched the killer tonight thanks to this video! i was lucky enough that there were FOUR whole cinemas in Berlin showing it. Ended up going to one I'd never been to and it was a really good time, I'm gonna have the smiths stuck in my head for a while
Michael Fassbender was incredible.
Watched it last night and loved it. The inner monologuing made me miss the earlier seasons of Dexter and the cinematography was excellent at building suspense.
I'm pretty sure reading *365 Days* and its sequels is worse than *The Human Centipede*, but what do I know...
Shockingly no! In terms of reading the worst things are the first Fifty Shades book and the 3rd After book. But Human Centipede is the only thing I've ever had to take a break when watching for risk of getting sick
@@AmandaTheJedi that is legit shocking!
Your dedication to your job really shows in this video. Loved it!
You should totally do a breakdown/recap of seven if you liked the comic!
Release the Assembly Cut!
Im not particularly well versed in Fincher movies, so i presume that plays a role in my opinion. Ive seen zodiac and now this film. The meditative nature of the way Fincher depicts mundane tasks, keeping the step by step integrity, is almost oddly comforting. However, i didnt enjoy watching the killer. Quite honestly i think its just not a movie for me. I just didnt connect to it, which is a shame. It looked good tho
this probably isn’t an underrated channel but i feel like it is
OMG is there a Tall Girl 3? 😩
I don't think it was solely a revenge mission; he had to eliminate the threat against him. As you said: cleaning up loose ends.
Very enjoyable production on this vid, ma'am. The under-the-chin camera angle rarely works in people's favor, however it does flatter you. 👍🏻
I feel you about the theater experience, especially when the cinematography is amazing.
