Can't believe the literal shitting, pissing and cumming movie was so moving 🥺
Welcome, fellow enlightened one, to the club.
Wow I don't remember that at all, it's been ages since I watched Forrest Gump
I cannot wait to see Sasquatch Sunset. Animals from my work are in the film, including Spike the porcupine who was waving in the trailer. She is the oldest living porcupine at 21 years old. It will be weird AF, we have been warned since production, amd the emotions will be so wverywhere due to our personal connection, but we are buying out a theater to see it next week and excited to see our animals be movie stars!!
It was bowel-moving.
How I feel about Swiss Army Man
For an actor turned director project, the amount of risks Monkey Man takes is really impressive and I hope Patel gets to make more films given he’s made his budget back in his first week.
there's a lot to celebrate with it, and the story of all the issues of getting it made could be a movie in itself, I think he broke his hand at one point?
@@AmandaTheJediYeah, he broke it when he first filmed an action sequence.
@@AmandaTheJedifirst scene shooting, the doctor put a screw in to hold everything in place, and the team dubbed that “the screw that holds the movie”😊 bbc Ali Plumb did a great interview couple of days ago, check it out😊
@@AmandaTheJedi Broke his hand, broke some toes, eye infection, tore a shoulder, even! Really strong directorial debut though, given all of that. SO jealous you got to see it in person! I caught it opening weekend and really loved the hell out of it. So good to be able to fill up my watchlist with festival picks though, when they finally get released.
@@appleciderwitch yeah honestly he broke down so many disasters trying to get it made that i lost track of them after a while, crowd was going wild
I just love the way you talk about movies. Your passion for movies legit affects the way I watch and think about movies, and makes me appreciate them more.
What many people don't know is that "The Fall Guy" is based on a super popular 80s TV that has somehow faded into obscurity.
Thank you! I thought I was the only person that remembered that show.
They've been talking about it a lot, and I've heard Lee Majors even has a cameo. It's not a secret.
Yeah they even include the original theme song in the movie
Fun fact, I grew up in France and the Fall Guy was called L'Homme Qui Tombe A Pic and we had French lyrics to the theme song! It was common to have theme songs translated or even invented (Dallas!) in the 70s and 80s.
It was pretty popular in the German speaking countries, hearing the name in the trailer made me remember. The German title was “Ein Colt für alle fälle”, pretty nice pun too.
Monkey man is the first film in ages that has genuinely blown me away. Dev Patel is a master of his craft in both acting and directing
I wanna see Love Lies Bleeding so bad. I'm so impressed with Kristen Stewart's career trajectory and the fact that she's taking on so many complex and interesting roles
This title just got me to click because I literally found myself saying “girl, what is HAPPENING?” 😂
I feel so vindicated by “The Fall Guy” after defending “Bullet Train” to my friends for two years.
Bullet Train is great.
@@thewraithwriter22 Yeah I wonder why it got so much hate, I thought it was a great popcorn film
Eh, I love bullet train. Screw the haters.
@@alejandrotoro9676 same. I don't understand why people would dislike it
I fucking love Bullet Train. Found the soundtrack on Spotify and have been listening to it so much-
I'm putting "to witness Amanda singing karaoke" on my bucket list...
Gutted there was no sound on the clip

As a brazilian just an fiy for gringos just now becoming familiar with Wagner Moura: the W in his name is pronounced like a V
He is a national treasure for us and I'm very excited to see more people around the world giving him his flowers. I can't wait to watch Civil War!
Great videos as always, Amanda. I always find cool new movies to look forward to with these festival videos you make.
Appreciate it thank you!
Yes!!! He is our national treasure ❤ Wagner Moura is amazing and deserving of all the hype he gets! I'm sure his career will only be greater and greater
I'm just happy to see that movies that AREN'T sequels or remakes are being made. This might be the first time in a while I've actually been excited about a film coming out.
Those types of movies have always been made, ya'll sleep under a rock?
@@user-yb1zq5sw6r Not sure where the condescension is coming from, friend. I only sleep under my rock on special occasions.
Edit: In all seriousness, I know those movies are still being made, lol. The cynical part of me is just frustrated at the sheer number of cinematic cashgrabs coming out with zero originality. Hence.. my deeply hyperbolic comment.
I got an unskippable ad for Civil War right after you finished talking about it. I was also lucky enough to see an early IMAX screening for it. Loved seeing a war movie from the perspective of the journalists. I don't think I know any other movie that has done that yet.
Yeah I think CZcams's really dialed in the targeted ads here because someone said the same thing about The Fall Guy segment lol
Oh Amanda on stage just gave me a whole other appreciation for her omg
Love Lies Bleeding is so worth it... I went into it completely blind the weekend before last because my brain was really not in a good place.... whole movie helped me appreciate that my life could be better (it made me miss being in love) but could also be worse (at least I'm not likely to commit crime or get caught up on steroids, not really a spoiler).
Such a gorgeous movie. Hope it gets a long breakdown. Dave Franco's jaw at least deserves an honorable mention 😂😂😂😅😅😅
Hope you're doing well, and also just wanted to note that Didi (Chinese for younger brother) is focused on a Taiwanese-American boy (not Korean-American)! Looking forward to seeing some of these movies when they are released in theaters !
Awesome video. I want to see Monkey Man, The Fall Guy, and Civil War. I hope you have a wonderful day.
Fall Guy was definitely my favorite of the three!
So happy to hear you enjoyed Fall Guy, I’m looking forward to see it in theatre!
DEFINITELY one for the theatre experience!
Yoooo ty for talking about I Saw the TV Glow!! I’ve been rewatching the trailer and consuming anything I can get my hands on when it comes to this picture. The sense of automatic nostalgia I get when I watch it really captured my imagination… it just lives there until I can see it - excited to say the least :-)
Just be prepared for a gut punch
I finally got around to watching We're All Going to the World's Fair a couple of months ago and I loved it so much. Just like Amanda was saying about I Saw the TV Glow, it just wouldn't leave my head for like a month. The way it portrays how isolating and tantalizing the Internet is growing up with it and trying to figure out who you are just hit so well. It sounds like I Saw the TV Glow will be a similar thing and I can't wait to see what Jane Schoenbrun can do with what looks to be a much bigger budget!
By the way, I don't know if there's any way you could have influenced this, but the full trailer ad for the Fall Guy literally popped up right after your review for civil war and immediately before your review of The Fall Guy. Perfect embedded marketing achieved. I'm definitely going to watch that one now.
I am glad you mentioned you'll be doing a more detailed Love Lies Bleeding video later, 'cause I've been staring at your channel in hopes ever since I've watched it (I did figure you'll wait till the digital release, but you know, in general, respectfully). Figured you'd love it and watching your recaps of stuff you liked is very reminiscent of screaming about it with a friend :D
Omg thank you for adding chapters!!! So helpful❤
I had not heard of Its Whats Inside or I Saw the TV Glow but both sound great. And I loved Bullet Train so I am excited for The Fall Guy!
I always love when you do these kind of videos. So many films I can’t wait to see. I also totally agree that Sanctuary has been slept on. Have missed your content recently so it’s nice to see two videos of yours released quite close together. No pressure though! Can’t imagine the time and effort needed to be releasing videos on a regular basis.
This year I started being way more into current releases and going to the theater after. First time ever I recognize a ton of the movies you're talking about! I feel fancy
Your insights on the movies you review make me want to watch them more than the trailers!
god, the way i am so excited to hear your thoughts about love lies bleeding, i feel like i will not stop nodding
I’m so hyped to see I Saw the TV Glow it looks so interesting!!
Been waiting so long for Fall Guy. None of the others interest me, but I appreciate all your thoughts on them.
Fun fact! From what I understand the only reason Y2K wasn’t as bad as we were warned was because
*drum role please*
They, uh, warned us and prepared.
IIRC the tech sector ran themselves ragged working to make sure it wouldn’t do what they were worried about but it worked so well everyone thought they were over exaggerating it all.
I’m so glad that never happened again. Ever.
Take this all with a grain of salt and do your own research if this interests you. This is just what I remember from some random videos I’ve watched over the years.
My dad did some Y2K things. Yeah: it was real. The only reason nothing bad happened was that they fixed the problem.
So excited, feels like forever that I saw Daddario, ADC or Lundy-Paine on screen!
Catching up on your videos and excited to see you talk about A Different Man. I also have NF-1 so it's been really cool to see Adam Pearson get such a mainstream role alongside such a mainstream actor, and in general have the condition featured like this. Really hoping there are more screenings I might be able to get to!
I love that Tshirt Amanda, its amazing. I love your reviews ❤
Love a good time loop movie when it's done right. Excited for desert road!
Great video! Love your break down of these movies!
Thank you for recommending Sanctuary! Would have probably never come across the film if it wasn't for you, and now it's become a real favourite. ❤
i found katy o’brian back in the z nation era & was STOKED to see she was going to be in love lies bleeding- it’s really the perfect role for her & i love that she’s getting the appreciation she deserves
And dear god she hasn’t aged a day!
She was also one of the best/very few good things about the last season of The Mandalorian, so it's nice to see her getting good roles elsewhere
Some of the songs from Queen of the Damn were indeed out BEFORE the movie was ever out so depending on the song it shouldn't take you out of the Y2K feel.
Yeah I tried to figure it out but when you see the movie you'll see the exact band they SHOULD have used and didn't for the nu metal kids
Are you going to do Lisa Frankenstein? I would love to hear your opinion
Amanda, thanks for all that recommendations. As i say in my native language, merci madame
!!!!!! The karaoke clip is amazing! You are out there!!!! 😍😍😍😍🥰🥰🥰🥰
I've seen some of these movies pretty recently. I'm in agreement with you, I Saw The TV Glow is a movie that's stuck with me since I saw it this last Sunday. It was one that hit a number of personal notes with me, in terms of how TV shows can mean something to us at a certain time in our lives, yet have a sort of off impact on us as time goes on. Also, in general, it's one of the more original films I've seen in a long time. Can't wait to see what Jane Schoenbrun does from here.
Jane is absolutely one of the most exciting film makers we have.
I was really hoping you'd seen A House Is Not A Disco! I've been keeping my eye on that release for a while and it's just hitting festivals now and I am so intrigued
I will definitely sail the seas for a few of these movies ❤
Omg i want to see basically all of these but especially sasquatch sunset
I'd love to see you reaction to "All of us strangers" as well! Might be right up your alley 💙
oof, so good, so painful aha!
I saw “ Love Lies Bleeding at my AMC “ in Texas. I really enjoyed it.❤❤
So disappointed we didn't get to hear you sing. You looked like you were rocking it!
I really hope you also review the horror movies that have out already and yet to come out this month, as it looks like a really good start for horror. Late Night With the Devil, The First Omen, Immaculate, Cukoo, etc
She did talk about Cuckoo on another channel with her friends! Not sure about the other ones.
Talked about Immaculate and Cuckoo over on the Intercut Podcast and I talked about Late Night with the Devil in my SXSW video from last year! I am planning on talking about a lot of horror movies in one go because even the stuff that isn't fully working for me, there's a loottt of really good one's out or on the way.
Was gonna do a dedicated Late Night video but it came out at an awkward time and then kinda got swept into some weird marketing stuff and AI issues so I left it alone for a bit
Thanks for these many recommendations. My interest is piqued for Desert Road and TV Glow. I saw Your Monster at BIFFF in Belgium a couple of weeks ago. Really enjoyed it. Also saw Last Stop in Yuma County, Exhuma, When Evil Lurks and Pendant ce temps sur Terre which I would all recommend 👌
As an aspiring Canadian filmmaker finishing my first year of college. I’m going to be posting my first film, and starting a CZcams channel early this summer. We had a gala last night and we saw the second and third year films and I’m both excited and nervous about if I’m going to be good enough to make a career out of this. I’m proud with my first film and I’m hoping to improve my skills going forward as it’s a two year program. I’m just scared that I’ll get my chance and not be noticed by the studios.
Best luck to you in your career!
I caught love lies bleeding at its uk premiere and loved it
You had me at Sasquatch. Don’t care what it’s about, that is all I need to know lol.
I Saw the TV Glow is one of my favorite movies ive seen this year and i highly recommend everyone see it! I saw the director's previous film "Were all going to the world's fair" and liked it a lot but didnt love it. This however, took everything i loved about World's Fair and bumped it up a thousand times. Visually stunning, amazing acting and writing, and the music is the cherry on top! 9/10
I don't remember any year which had this many movies that intrigued me.
Excited to see Monkey Man. Love Patel since his early work as a teen/young man. OMFG!!! I forgot that Hathaway movie was Harry Styles Fanfiction. Definitely gonna watch Monkey Man in theaters and that one at home 🤣
Eileen was not what I was expecting but I really enjoyed it. Well enjoyed is not the right word. It left me feeling squirmy. Anne Hathaway is mesmerizing once again. I can't wait to see Love Lies Bleeding but my local theater didn't get it :(
Another great job! Thank you.
I saw Love Lies Bleeding and I loved it. Of the rest, I’m really looking forward to seeing Monkey Man, Civil War and I Saw the TV Glow.
Great video as always ahaha - are you planning to watch We're All Gonna Die by Freddie Wong and Matt Arnold at some point? I'd LOVE to hear your thoughts on it, big fans of those guys
I was lucky enough to catch the premier of A Different Man. That movie is indeed wild and thought provoking
"Love-lies-bleeding" is also a flower 🌼🌸
My favorite filmic vibe in the run-up to Y2K was the x-tian end of the world/anti-christ movie blitz we had. "End of Days" is the best know but man, there were a slew of them. Made trips to the video store fun. :)
Love your Fall Guy poster on the wall!!!
Yeah they were just giving them out after the screening and they're ssooooo nice, like, a proper card stock print poster
@@AmandaTheJedi wow, nice to see someone doing something right. Can’t wait to see the movie. Looks so good!!
Benson and Moorhead mentioned! ❤
Great reviews, very honest. I’m glad you liked I wish you all the best. The cast and crew clearly worked hard. I liked your praise on Cole’s performance, his work on this combined with his great physical performance in Lisa Frankenstein I hope to see Cole get more roles as he transitions away from something like riverdale
Thank you
The cap and t-shirt are on point, so I assume the commentary will be as well.
I pick up some movies and really hope I can watch them all sooner than later.
Love Lies Bleeding was SO GOOD!!!!!!!!!
i am here for The idea of you 😍my man Nicholas Galitzine and Monkey man
if it helps, love lies bleeding isn't out in the UK til next month so i can't see it yet! and monkey man only came out friday. you're just catering to your international audience queen
I am SO interested in A Different Man as someone with Neurofibromatosis, it hardly ever gets highlighted in entertainment and media. So if I get the opportunity to watch it, I definitely will.
10:46 One important thing missing from the A24 Civil War map showing the various factions are the factions' capitals. That would really help with figuring out the politics of the various factions.
I finally went to Sundance for the first time after avoiding like the plague for almost 20 years with tickets from a work lottery. The only slot I could get was an 8:45 am showing of A Different Man. Anyone who has been to park city in the winter knows that the traffic is a nightmare especially in the morning but that movie was so worth it. I love awkward sebastian stan and Adam Pearson is the most delightful person. Definitely recommend (if you don’t mind body horror)
Also the cinematographer for its what’s inside was one of my dad’s best friends in college so I love that you loved it
Oh man, if you can send him my best and just say we were all really blown away with how it was shot, please do!
I am excited to see “Civil War”
Excited for new Benson and morehead
Well, it's not BY them, they just produced it. I'm sure they contributed a lot and they each have cameos in the movie, but it's my bad for not spefically mentioning the writer/director, Michael Felker
1. Looking forward to a full video of Love lies bleeding
2. Your thoughts on the J.Lo movie musical and documentary?
Zero thoughts on J. Lo sorry loool she's getting a musical?
@@AmandaTheJedi It's on Amazon Prime
The Fall Guy was a US TV show starring Lee Majors
Thats cool
Adam Pearson's role in A Different Man HOPEFULLY!!! leads many more people to watch him and Scarlett Johansson in Under The Skin (2013), a criminally unknown A24 masterpiece, that is best enjoyed going in totally blind.
Please, I just need more CZcams reactions of this film, but nobody seems to know about it!
Oh I love Under the Skin! I have that A24 hardcover screenplay book
I'm so excited about A Different Man! Pearson and a bit of horror? Love it. I just want to see more Adam Pearson in movies.
Have you seen Persian version? I'd love to hear what you think of it! I know that movie is not perfect but i absolutly loved it
You should check out the novel Rabbits by Terry Miles, based on a podcast by the same author. I feel like it evokes the same vibe as I Saw The Tv Glow. It confuses what is life and what is the “game” in a really fun way.
Newer to your channel and wondering if you have a physical collection.
LOVE YA JEDI
Interesting films.
Bring back movie night!
Why is no one talking about Lisa Frankenstein tho?!?!?
I'm going to see Civil War. Btw, today is the first day of the American Civil War. I haven't been this excited for a movie in years.
Honestly, a person named Amanda The Jedi and states she doesn't know Katy O'Brien from anywhere is Ironic. Katy was a bad Imperial guy in Andor who tortured a scientist to death while eating an apple. Andor is a great pre-quel story to Rogue One. She rocked in Andor and in Love Lies Bleeding.
This is crazy but I saw both Andor & Marvels Agents of Shield and I barely remember her. I don't understand why that is but when I saw the trailer for Love Lies Bleeding I honestly, I had no idea who she was. And still kind of don't...anyway now I see her!
@@mmem4264 Bangs are really the ultimate way to hide in plain sight. Superman got it right.
Andor's been on my to watch list for a while and it's the only star wars thing I'm excited to get back to! Disney and the fanbase as a whole really just kinda killed any desire to engage with new material in the franchise. Basically when Mando S2 turned into a 'let's beta test 10 different potential series instead of making something great' I was out.
EDIT: Actually when I found out Obi Wan had the twins, I was reaaaalllyy out
@@AmandaTheJedi I fell out of love with Star Wars somewhere around 2017. I got excited with Mando but back door plot hell and naming baby Yoda after what sounds like Dragonball ripoff peaced me out. Andor though is a rare gem. Hope season two lives up to it. Overall Disney no longer gets my money, I boycott over deleting the Willow Series.
Hi, this is a small comment from a nobody, but I do really like how you respect story.
Civil War I'll see when its on streaming as I heard there is a shooting scene thats probably as annoying as Season 8 of Walking Dead was, the gunfire season, for that reason I'm good waiting. Honestly I've not really missed going to the theater, I went and saw Ghostbusters frozen empire, while it was fun it wasn't worth it imo. Glad I saw it, but eh.
And speaking of TWD, I loved Rick and Michonne's spin off The Ones Who Live. Mainly because Matthew Jeffers was in it and I saw him and Danai in King Richard in NYC. Plus Danai wrote an episode I hope will get her a writing nomination. She's a Obie winner I found out.
But other than that I loved The Bear (S1&2), Shogun, and Silo.
Will be looking forward to these once they are on Max, Peacock, Netflix, or even AMC as my AMC+ has Sundance.
Hope you're doing okay ❤❤
hay hay hay i wanna see you singing on stage
12:10
Lol
"Lisa Frankenstein" was the first movie I've seen in the theater since 2018, and while IMO it was not a masterpiece of cinema, it was tremendously entertaining ... and I was absolutely shocked to find out that Cole Sprouse can act!
I just went to see it because I think he's handsome! Turns out he can carry an entire feature based solely on the strength of his facial expressions and physical acting. (Anyone who has seen it will know what I mean.)
Riverdale was hot garbage from start to end, and he couldn't salvage it at all, so I'm glad he's finally getting things to *do.*
That being said ... based on the promotional images for his movie mentioned in this video, I definitely thought it was about a polyamorous romantic relationship. Oops. The next time I accidentally see him in the wild in L.A., maybe I'll throw myself on my sword about it and let him scold me.
Talking about Cole, has anyone here seen Lisa Frankenstein? This is one of the best movies I have seen this year, and I think Amanda would love it but I see the viewers really divided about it. Granted, it is quirky and cut off from the reality but aren't all movies like this? I just had so much fun watching it. I understand why some people don't like it all that much but I would not call it a bad movie under any circumstance.
I think MONKEY MAN's flaws as a film for international audiences - particularly in dealing with its supposedly 'slow' middle - is that it chooses not to catch non-Indian audiences up on its symbolism, its cultural context and its subtextual content.
For me, the middle - from the Dev's character diving into the river until the start of Act 3 - was phenomenal, it was moving, touching, engaging, it was the segment that made this film into something special and something transcendent beyond the exhausting comic book nonsense of, for instance, the JOHN WICK films. But the problem is that I'm Indian and I picked up on EVERY reference, EVERY image, EVER symbolic contrast or comparison the film was making. I was weeping in places and I was charged with anger at the system the film depicts which is very accurate to the realities faced by India and other Asian nations. I picked up on the hints in the soundtrack, the significance of the religious aspects and the power of the narrative it's trying to shape while not getting bogged down with India's very idiosyncratic social and political injustices that resemble virtually nothing of what's happening in the West's version of those kinds of corruption.
The content IS there, in full force, pedal to the floor. It's just that the film doesn't take the time to pull outsiders in and help them see it. And I think that some of the action sequences could have been trimmed to make room for more nuanced presentations of that content.
I think MONKEY MAN's flaws really highlight how hegemonic and colonialist genre cinema is. A French invention dominated by American industry and cultural capital; audiences in the West are far less informed of the culture of the East than audiences in the East are informed about the cultures of the West. It's a really interesting problem of art and commerce, but it highlights - IMHO - that if we really want to enjoy the incredibly rich variety of content that the rest of the planet has to offer for English-language-centric cinema, especially genre films, that filmmakers and audiences need to start teaching each other how to stop relying on Hollywood to teach us pretty much all we know about the world.
In a world where CIS, straight men on the CZcamss keep telling us that OPPENHEIMER is the "pinnacle" of filmmaking, MONKEY MAN reminds us that films are still created, marketed and consumed in protected little bubbles of ignorance. MONKEY MAN could have tried a little harder to flesh out (in a Western lens) its uniquely Indian content that genuinely supports the film's emotional arc...and audiences could try harder to subject themselves to a broader diet of films and not just what their local multiplex or streamer (or even film festivals which are still viewing movies largely through a Western lens) tells us is worthy cinema.
Love your summations and your channel, as always.
The sasquatch walkouts just left to get beef jerky.
I'm not a movie watching person (I just let you tell me about them for years on end) but I really like Spock and Zachary Quinto (I know he's not Spock) so I'll try to find his movie.
