Classic Mini Workshop
United Kingdom
Registrace 18. 11. 2006
Hi, Welcome to my CZcams channel. I upload on a regular weekly basis Classic Mini related videos and workshops. I currently own three Classic Minis, a very rare 1997 Rover Mini Cooper Sport 5, Rover Mini Cooper MPI 1997, and a 1994 Rover Mini Sprite which I have modified extensively restored over the last 7 years including converting the engine to a 1.6 lite 8v C16SE from a Vauxhall Astra GLSi with a 5 speed gearbox.
I have owned Classic Minis for nearly 30 years and have picked up some great tips and learnt some valuable lessons along the way which I am more than happy to share with you. I am lucky enough to have owned several Mini Coopers and two ultra rare UK Spec ERA Turbo Minis.
I attend many Mini events throughout the year and am Vice Chairman of Brighton Mini Club. I enjoy helping others time permitting and have been involved in some very exciting Mini based project recently.
Please feel free to ask any questions

Hi Keith, looking good mate, only criticism is trust me don't solder joints it makes the wiring go brittle either side of the solder, how do I know I've done it to, I now crimp everything with a professional crimper and aviation crimps, luckily my son is an avionics engineer so he's taught me a lot. Anyway, keep up the good work nearly there mate. Cheers Marty 👍
Hi Keith. Looks great! I have just noticed the metal cooper s wheel centres. How are they fitted? I’m thinking of getting some but they come with screws so not sure how they fit
They are just screwed onto the original center caps. You need to drill the holes and they don't come with screws
Brilliant. No other word for it!
Looks fantastic Keith
The car looks amazing. I said not to do the red on the steering wheel but it looks great. I was hoping for a ‘how to’ on the decals, I’ve got some Tahiti ones to add to my car… Do you just peel them off and stick them on? Thanks
Pretty straight forward, just peel and stick once lined up, but you must degrease the panel first with something like brake cleaner
Thank you 👍
Looking good Keith decal's certainly add a touch to the green great job
Mate that looks amazing lovely job. Takes me back to the early 90’s when I used to perv over these in the Rover brochures as a teenager!
Hi Keith! ( because I love the John Cooper style white bonnet stripes with the white roof) I didn’t think I’d like these side panel stripes but I really do. This little car is pristine 👍👌❤️❤️❤️
Keith - excellent work, and thebest choice livery.! Racing Green is going to look better than new. Noted the dodgy wiring loom connector, something to check before procuring such items in the future for all.
Looks fantastic Keith. It's so annoying with the poor quality of new parts, especially from so called Mini specialists. I would be demanding compensation for the time and effort to rectify.
Thanks
Cheers Les
Looks absolutely fantastic, Keith, inside and out. You have done some great work as usual. Well done 👏
Thanks 👍
😍👍
Lovely 👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Fantastic job Keith, well done!
Looks sweeter now!
Cut plug off they are crap. Use old one
She’s looking great Keith, well done for doing such a professional job.
Should have stuck with the racing green livery IMHO. But saying that my racing green is going gun metal grey n black lol😅😅😅
Don't buy new parts as they will 100% be worse than original, like everything these days.
There certainly is a strong case for refurbishment or if you are really lucky, new old stock..
Hi Keith, I had the same issues with my new loom bought from a different supplier, had to swap the new for old connecter, just can't get the decent items these days
Really like those decals!
Looks mega Keith
You now need an engine and gearbox. What spec did you have the engine built to?
It's been so long, I can't quite remember. I think it's +20, stage 3 head, EVO cam, and fully lightened and balanced bottom end
Hiya Keith-looks absolutely great inside and out. Can't wait to see RG running. The red piping is perfect. Keep well.
Enjoying watching these. I’ve just recently purchased a 1976 mini pickup!
You lucky sod! They are gorgeous! 👍🇬🇧
@@philtucker1224 thanks I’m loving it, always wanted one! 🇬🇧 😊
I have stop using mini spares had so many poor quality spares from them, all the knuckle joint rubbers perished in less then 4 months and the subframe never made it to the car. Now use Rimmer Brothers and never had an issue I know you pay more but the quality is the best.
Same crap from rimmers… all suppliers suffer from inferior rubber
Hi Keith, very brave to do the decals yourself.... out of all things on Car makes me feel abit sick after an experience with window tint!😂
Great job
We love stickers.
Hi Keith. Do you have a video replacing the mini crossmember to bulkhead brackets, like the Minispares AHP36001 part? Mine are swelling, and I tapped the centre between the 4 big holes with a hammer, and it blew out to a hole. Just curious if you have had to replace these before? Any idea what the 4 holes are for from factory too? they go through this bracket but not into the bulkhead itself.
I'm afraid I dont, sorry
The seats look good. We all have a bit of patina as we grow old but, you will also show an additional scar to remind you of a memorable rebuild. Take care,
Is there a bronze guide bush like the manual transmissions that wear out or only the outer seals?
I dont think so
I bought one a few weeks ago from Bonhams 👍 same colour auto. Love it. 👌
Seats look good. Squeaky bum time with the fire 🥵
Do you think there will be much power increase by using the roller rockers?
No, only marginal increases. They are 1.3:1 ratio so almost the same as standard. The benefit is in the roller tip which should reduce valve and guide wear
Bit scary there Keith seat look ok from here your on a roll with all the new parts
Will you be showing how to fit the speedo cable?. It would help me if you could. Thanks 👍 😊
Sorry, I've already fitted it, but to be honest there is not much to show as I just removed the dash pod and poked the cable through the hole in the bulkhead. Did you need to see how the dash pod comes out?
@@classicminiworkshop it was more on the engine side. As my engine is in the car
You nearly had a flaming red!
LOL, nearly!
Seats are not great keith, i would be a bit annoyed paying that amount of money for the result you got. Not even right leather used on bolster. I'm no expert but watch many car channels on CZcams, and thats not right. Keep up the great work guys love the channel. If it is ok, for for what you expected happy days❤
For the price I thought it was OK compared to what I've paid in the past, but I wouldn't have minded paying more for better if that makes sense
Flambė the seats would give them patina for sure 🔥
LOL
Seats look really good. Leather stretches and creases easily, especially if the roam / structure underneath deteriorates. Even new seats will look used after a short period of time
Super jealous. I am saving up to do my indicator assembly unit. Previous owner broke the left indicator piece and now it doesn't stay indicating or whenever it does, it'll just go off again
I would replace that cable , the plastic will probably crack after being heated up like that. And the leather on the seats look really loose , they should've tightend that up to be honest. Take your time with electrics Keith , don't do quick connections. Stay safe.
Good point, for the cost of a cable, I think I'll just put a new one on
Will this car be going up for sale or is it being kept ?
I'm going to keep it. I've spent to much money on it to sell straight away LOL
Hey that's the same piece I got from where you live.
Interior looks mint. Nic eone
Seats look great, don’t want them to look new in my opinion, take it easy mate, don’t rush, we all need to see it finished , but no mistakes needed, we all do it. Did you get my email, as I had a bit of a problem sending it, cheers Keith
No, I didn't get an e-mail? millermilla@sky.com
I think hats expensive for what they've done and wouldn't use them again.. Car looks great though and lucky escape with the cables shorting
I paid around £500 15 years ago for some repairs on my ERA leather seats so I thought it's probably about right with inflation
glad all is well I had a dead short in my old S due to me putting a large bore maniflow and the main cable under neath melted to the exhaust very scary
