Project Racing Green is my 1989 Rover Mini Racing Green that has had an official John Cooper conversion fitted by John Cooper Garages. The standard 998cc engine is boosted from 41BHP to 60BHP thanks to the engine upgrades. The upgrades include a polished and ported Cylinder head with enlarged valves, LCB exhaust system, Roller tip rockers, and Twin HS2 SU Carburettors. The interior enhancements include walnut door capping, walnut dashboard, alloy door furniture, and luxurious John Cooper emblem full leather GTS recliner seats. - Auta a dopravní prostředky
Great progress Keith, I love your attention to detail and well worth repairing to preserve as much of original as possible.
I might have just bought a good used one but nice to see the repair.
Even if you had bought a new boot you would have had to do the preparation work, so £300 saved makes good sense, and the repair looks spot on. Best wishes.
That’ll be a nice rear end when it’s had its top coats added. Great repair work to the two patches too.
Keith, Great job on the repair patches you made to the boot. If your going to change your welder at some point maybe think about a TIG machine 🤔 Cheers Dave
Good repair job on the boot Keith certainly a lot of work involved but you saved £300😂
Nice
Thanks
Hi Keith absolutely outstanding work you have done on the racing green, I reckon some professionals out there with the proper equipment and setup would struggle to get the finish and detail you have, well done SIR and keep up the good work 😃😃
Thank you
Great video Keith. What filler do you recommend?
I'm using Upol Easy 1, it's much better than P38 which I usually use
I'd be worried about the rust in the seams ... unpick the skin to really get into the seams? I know it's work...but....you'll be sure to have got the rust sorted...it's hiding in those seams for sure.
There is no way you could unpick the skin and fold it again, the fold is too tight. It would need a new skin. I've sealed the lip and will then cavity wax. Given that it's already lasted 35 years, I'm not too worried about it all of a sudden rusting badly.
Hi Keith, Do you know the original garage and are you going to get in period reproduction number plates? Ta Andy
I will probably use period John Cooper Garages plates as it was one of their official conversions rather than a kit
Hiya Keith-splendid job sir! Has anybody told you you're a perfectionist? Keep well, RG looks great.
