Candyladdie (Alan Ladd Tribute)
Here's another fan video for AL, this one with clips from the films LUCKY JORDAN and SALTY O'ROURKE. Sorry about the poor image quality (especially of the second film).
No copyright abuse intended, but if the owners mind, the video will be deleted, of course.

Something For Laddie (Alan Ladd Tribute)
zhlédnutí 7KPřed 13 lety
A tribute to AL, a top star in his day, and the coolest, cutest tough guy of film noir. The clips are from THIS GUN FOR HIRE, THE GLASS KEY and THE BLUE DAHLIA, and the song is "Trouble" by Bitter:Sweet (lyrics below). Get your back against the wall Put your hands up Mr. Small I am here to set you straight I don't have time to argue your way I'll give you one more chance to get yourself off I'l...
Laddie At Sea (TWO YEARS BEFORE THE MAST Tribute)
zhlédnutí 8KPřed 13 lety
Fan vid for TWO YEARS BEFORE THE MAST. The music is Michael Bublés version of "Surrender" (lyrics below). I chose this song because it has a Spanish feel to it, the accordion fits the setting ... and, well, there's a lot of surrendering going on during this particular sea voyage. Lyrics below. To be taken with a grain of salt ... or perhaps even a bucket of brine. :-) When we kiss my heart's on...
BOY ON A DOLPHIN (Fan Video)

In this movie from 1957, Sophia Loren plays a poor Greek sponge diver who finds an ancient statue. She is torn between illegally selling it to art collector Clifton Webb, and giving it to her country, represented by archaeologist Alan Ladd. Since the visuals and the music are the movie's best features, I made a 'music video' for this one instead of posting excerpts. Nothing fancy, just some of ...
Western Laddie (Alan Ladd Tribute)

The clips are from AL's westerns "Shane" and "Branded", and the music is a remix I made of Nancy Sinatra's "Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down)". Lyrics below. This video was made by request. I appreciate the inspiration, and I particularly enjoyed making this one, so I hope you like it too. Woody Allen on SHANE: "And its wonderful the way he snaps around when the kid cocks his gun, because you kn...
THE PROUD REBEL (Photo Tribute)

In this charming western from 1958, AL plays a widower who lost his home and wife in the civil war. He is looking for a doctor to cure his son (played by AL's son David), who is mute since that shock. A spinster (played by Olivia de Havilland) takes them in, and they in turn help her defend her farm against sheep herders who are trying to run her off her land. Since the story does not lend itse...
THE CARPETBAGGERS (Trailer)
zhlédnutí 112KPřed 13 lety
Here's the trailer for THE CARPETBAGGERS (1964). The film is such an outrageous mix of Hollywood melodrama, pop psychology and salacious sleaze that it's fun in a gruesome sort of way. It's an adaptation of a novel by Harold Robbins, which is one of the best-selling novels of all time, and the movie was also a huge hit (even though it's much less explicit ;-)). The characters are based on famou...
Laddie and the Ladies - APPOINTMENT WITH DANGER (Excerpts)
zhlédnutí 4,6KPřed 13 lety
Here's an excerpt from APPOINTMENT WITH DANGER, a crime film from 1951. Alan Ladd plays a tough detective for the US mail, who goes undercover to stop a robbery. The bad guys are played by Paul Stewart, and ironically, soon-to-be DRAGNET team Jack Webb and Harry Morgan. There's even less romance than usual for a Ladd-movie. The girl in the scene, played by Jan Sterling, is Stewart's moll, but s...

Laddie and the Ladies - CHINA (Excerpts)
zhlédnutí 8KPřed 13 lety
Here are some excerpts from a 1943 Alan Ladd movie, CHINA. It's another comic book propaganda piece, but more serious in tenor than LUCKY JORDAN (!942). In this one, AL gets caught up in the Japanese invasion of China, shortly before the attack on Pearl Harbor. As usual, he starts out as a cynical tough guy (he sells oil to the Japanese), but is 'reformed' by school teacher Loretta Young, as we...
Laddie and the Ladies - THE RED BERET (Excerpts)
zhlédnutí 8KPřed 13 lety
Here is a scene from the first of the three films that Alan Ladd made in the early '50s in Britain, THE RED BERET (US title: PARATROOPER, 1953). As in the case of HELL BELOW ZERO (1954), the screenplay was written by Richard Maibaum, and Albert R. Broccoli produced, both later best-known for the Bond-films, and this one was even directed by Terence Young, who directed DR NO, FROM RUSSIA WITH LO...
Laddie and the Ladies - LUCKY JORDAN (Excerpts)
zhlédnutí 6KPřed 13 lety
Here are some excerpts from an Alan Ladd movie from 1942 (the same year as THIS GUN FOR HIRE, his first big role). Lucky Jordan is a racketeer who gets mixed up with spies during WWII. As one of his attempts to evade the draft, he hires an old bag lady to pose as his mother. At first she only does it for the money, but then she enjoys the idea of having a son so much that she 'adopts' him even ...

Idole
Everybody know the HBO series "Dream On"?
Beautiful people average actors making trash look respectful or at least entertaining or acceptable as such The clothes and sets greatly elevate this melodrama
The movie is not only a meticulously assembled homage to the great actors of the Golden Age and film noir, but with the completely crazy script it's also a reminiscence of the confusing plots of Raymond Chandler's novels, which even the directors of the 40s had no insight into. This Hollywood anecdote became legendary: When Howard Hawks was filming "The Big Sleep" he asked Raymond Chandler who actually murdered the chauffeur, to which he simply replied: "I have no idea." Still a hilarious, absurd comedy, especially if you know the original movies (even more so if you've read some of the novels).
Only clips from 2 of Ladd's westerns. Not very representative of his best westerns. There is noting from Red Mountain or Whispering Smith.
It's NOT a full movie. You haven't told the truth.
I didn't say anywhere that I posted the full movie! Both the title and description say "trailer". Not my fault if you can't or won't read. So don't accuse me of "lying", that's absurd.
One of those moments in film, that even though Alan and Rita have differing careers, they look so wonderful together.
I see her as someone who didn’t like black. Black people are giving props when she rejected us by denying herself. Look who she then married! Bumb her
America's finest 👌

This is Dona Drake, a black woman passing as white, leading an all-white girl band!
♥
We now need a movie about her life. I am so intrigued.
What year is this?
They look cute together. She resembles Shirley Temple.
Not exactly following the book.
by a good old day harvard student
According to the book, "The Soundies Corporation of America - a History and Filmography", the singing is dubbed by Harry Babbitt of Kay Kaiser fame.
That makes sense. I never ever hear Alan Ladd sing.
He sang with Dorothy Lamour in a 1947 film, "Variety Girl".
She looks SO much like Shirley Temple!
Too forced, too much. Calling Bill Clinton and Harvey Weinstein!
Nice, compact little trailer---short, sweet, & to the point. Having just seen DeMille's Northwest Mounted Police brought me here. I've known of Sasky but have never seen it. Scenery looks impressive. I like Alan Ladd but no particular fondness for Winters. Hope to see in entirety someday!
Allan Ladd good looking❤
Pellicola davvero carina ma niente di che, non troppo entusiasmante, ci sono degli errori come il fatto che non ci sono montagne nel Sascatchevan, quindi davvero carina e davvero carina per me come valutazione è 6,5.
Eddie Haskell read the book on a Beaver episode so I became interested in the movie.
Yes, the episode where he plans to spend the summer in Alaska aboard a fishing vessel. Interestingly enough, the episode gets the name of the author wrong, ascribing the book to Charles Dana, a completely different man, who served as an assistant Secretary of War in the American Clvil War.
I saw this movie as a child on TV. It was scandalous for its day.
It sucked but it was fun.
What A Goofy Movie but I loved it.
This makes me want cookies. 🍪
Loved this film! I remember it when it came out!
Ladd great as usual
Looks like a bunch of scum to me.
Beautiful voice but it would’ve been a scandal if they knew about her true racial background back then.
Not really, it would have been covered up and she just would have been phased out of Hollywood. Which is what I suspect happened to her.
Can you imagine if it was Pearl (Marie McDonald ), the secretary who performed this leg tease scene?
He is better singer that almost all of the comercial music of today, amazing
He was a good singer, but I think he was dubbed here.
Sorry but steve martin ruined this movie,or at least should have acted more seriously, maybe the fault of the director.shame the person whom created this technology died shortly after the movie as she patented the rights and no more can be done, what a shame☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️
Ladd might have been short, but you *know* he rocked that ass after the filming, especially after viewing those legs. He must have been dying to hit that.
Thanks for the fun!!!
Esther and Alan made a great onscreen couple
In case anyone doesn’t know, Rita Rio was an alternate stage name for Dona Drake. Such an underrated talent. Check her out in Road to Morocco and others.
Check her out in, So This Is New York, with Henry Morgan . Great old movie. Donna was a doll!!!!
*this is one of my favorite movies🥰*
Stella Stevens almost got the part of Jenny Denton.
Harold Robbins & Daniele Steel were the giants of American Literature.
"It is now part of your history." I kind of like that.
he loved her in the movie
Alan Ladd's last movie and the introduction of the Nevada Smith character. Steve McQueen played Max Sand ( Nevada Smith) in a 1966 movie. This movie is loosely based on Howard Hughes' ventures into the movie business. Max Sand was a real person (Nevada Smith).
And none of these folks knew she was a Black woman passing as White? Wow if they had only known

I remember when this movie came out I was 13 year old. . . it was rated GP but I still got in and everyone was talking about it.
This was released in 1964- four years before the G/M/R/X ratings were established. The newspaper ads merely said, “Adult entertainment.”
There was a spinoff movie entitled "Nevada Smith," starring Steve McQueen, released two years later, about his early years born as Max Sand.
Alan Ladd ("Nevada Smith") died five months before it premiered.
