My New but Old or Old but New Saw Stand Vid 087 6Aug24
This video shows an unboxing, assembly, and mobile base unit installed on a Now New-to-Me Miter Saw stand that I purchased 21 years ago but never opened. It's been down in the storage area above my kennel all that time. I sure do enjoy having it since I have room in my new workshop. In advance, thank you for joining me. Be safe, be kind, and keep having fun. 🙂

Hey there folks. Sorry for such a long break between videos I've been working on the metal building workshop and I almost have videos to publish for your viewing. I hope this gives you an idea how to mobilize heavy objects that you ...

    Very cool. I love new old stock stuff like that. I bought a Skil brand cordless 3/8' drive ratchet new old stock. I bought one originally in the mid 80's. The batteries won't hold a charge but one of these days I'm gonna retrofit a lithium battery into it. You saw stand looks very well made.

      Bruce, I too like the build of the Hitachi stand and I do like older vintage tools that work. The mobile base made it quite easy to maneuver the saw around my workshop. Thanks for watching and the comment. Right now we're in day 3 of steady rain which I think stems from hurricane Debby. We need the rainfall. Several months prior we had no rain and everything turned brown. That's not the case now. Take it easy, Bruce. Don 👍🏽🤠

Hope you're doing okay my friend. Thanks for watching and commenting on my video. Take good care of yourself and the grand kids. Don 👍🏽🤠

    • @houndsmanone4563
      @houndsmanone4563 Před 11 dny

      Rick, that wheel kit was the right move. I just couldn't believe that I left this miter stand untouched for that long until I went up into the kennel storage area and saw It was never opened and my miter saw was tired of being hand-lifted every time it was to be used and placed onto something firm enough to hold it. Plus my back couldn't keep that action up. I hope you eventually bring out the electric log splitter to use or give it to one of the sons a week after Christmas as an "I love you son" gift. A gift for them, "just because". Alright my brother, take good care of yourself and take the grand babies for more rides on your tractor and enjoy every single minute of it. Don 👍🏽🤠

      Dubs, I made this water drinking barrel for a freind I met several years ago. He raises goats and the barrel now makes the goats more civil with one another. I didn't know that goats were so aggressive until the goat sheperd told me. If the goats know you, you're okay-fine but I guess it's like any animal that has a keeper that they know and feel safe around. We had one of those fans that we have used to keep the horses cool. In fact, we used to put it in the dairy barn when we milked and it was super hot. Made things much more comfortable. We sold the dairy comes in ‘86 and it became a fan for the horses. Last summer , our new mare knocked it over and busted the motor and bent the shroud severely. The whole thing went in the junk this spring after many years of trouble free service. You’re right about the with Don. Ours was homemade and the base by itself was well over 100 lbs. I didn’t even try to pick it up and carry it. I went and got one of the loader tractors and let it do the heavy lifting I must be getting old. I use my head now where I never used to! 😀

      Ha, as I heard someone in the Corps say to use the bump between my shoulders for something more than a hat rack. Well, I finally did. The fan is super heavy and I got so tired of lugging it around using my heavy duty dolly. Ha, sounds like your horse might have tried to reposition the fan's airflow and got a bit too heavy-hooved with it. Gary, as much as I hate having to admit it, but age is advancing at a rapid pace. The bad part about it is that my strength is collapsing in my arms and a little in my legs.

      Thanks for the view/comment. I surely would appreciate it if you would create a video demonstrating how the quick-hitch can attach to a ballast or three-point implement w/o the safety latches being unlocked. Maybe you know of a quickhitch that can do what you're eluding to. If so, please share. Thanks 🙄

    Rewatching this and I am brining my bike in for a lot of routine services I had not done of late.... I could do a few of the tasks myself, but I have a number of things I want done that I just cannot do easily without more proper tools (toy!) and such.

      Ha, I know exactly what you mean, Ray 😊 . I prefer doing bike work myself but some of the tasks that were once simple now tend to be a challenge either in complexity, or sometimes a physical challenge. My body will not withstand the bending, stooping, and lifting that I enjoyed during my youth. Since my stroke, I've had to re-learn how to manipulate heavy objects in order to support them myself without falling over but that's the beauty of doing the work yourself. Only you know how much work it truly takes to complete a task. Thanks much for the video rewatch and positive comment. Later Don 👍🏽🤠 05/31/24

      Thanks Ray. Please take good care of yourself and say hey to Miss Demeanor and your family of cats. Hopefully your cats are doing well. My friend had four cats and from my visiting him each Sunday morning, I've learned quite a bit about cat behavior. One of his cats (a tuxedo) took me in as its friend and the owner said he never did that with anyone except me. He said to me, "Don, a cat will determine who it wants to be around and the cat apparently chose me. take that as an honor. Don 👍🏽🤠

    I've been considering for some time which canopy I wanted on my GC1710. Having a backhoe, I can't imagine a canopy more suitable. As we are also in SE NC, there is little you can do during the summer without protection from the sun... Thanks for the insight... BTW, where did you purchase yours?

    • @houndsmanone4563
      @houndsmanone4563 Před 3 měsíci

      Thanks for the comment, Gary. I purchased my canopy on-line directly from Curtis Canopy Industries and as you can see from the video, it wasn't too difficult to install. Ha, I did manage to put a dent in my canopy after about a year by not paying attention to what I was doing. You must always remember that you have a canopy on your tractor or you too will learn the hard way, Haha 😁. It only takes one 'Oh-chit!' to undo all the goodness that it provides. I will admit, I almost forgot a second time while driving near some widely-stretched branches. I guess I ought to give an update since I've had my canopy on my GC1710. I definitely love having the canopy. Strangely enough, I've only used my canopy once with my backhoe b/c it was so dang aggrivating connecting/disconneting the backhoe. That's just my take on it. Since my stroke, the simplest of things has become a challenge. Thanks for watching and your comment. Enjoy your week. Don 👍🏽🤠 05/15/24

      Redman4u2njoy, thanks for watching and commenting. My property is slightly over 45 acres and there's another 261+ acres of wooded land that wraps around my land. My new range allows for a 200 - 250 yard shot. I've been doing so many other projects lately which has kept me from using my rifle-pistol range as much as I'd like. Have a fine week. 👍🏽🤠 04/24/24

    Wondering how your setup is working a year later? Would you change anything? I have thought of doing one similar but had the thought of putting down one or 2 layers on the front to hold the sand in.

    • @houndsmanone4563
      @houndsmanone4563 Před 4 měsíci

      @Mtbambeno, so far the range has held up quite well. I don't throw as much lead down range as I thought I would but I made a few mods to the backstop to satisfy a few querks just for my liking. I did put 1 RR tie across the front to hold the clay-sand inside if it started to slide forward, however, it never-ever slid forward. Even with rain, the rain did not make the clay-sand break down and wash out. Overall, the build was a success and is still holding up. I need to do an update on many different projects to show viewers how several different builds I've done are still holding up well. Thanks much for asking and have a great week. 👍🏽🤠 04/16/24

    Isnt water going to leak through your wood cover!?

    • @houndsmanone4563
      @houndsmanone4563 Před 4 měsíci

      Excellent question, Catherine. The rain water does not impact the performance of the septic system nor does it negatively affect the wooden cover. The wooden covers were built only to immediately locate the concrete access port holes directly beneath the wooden cover. Before I built these wooden covers, the concrete port holes were once buried by dirt and grass over the course of the years and I had to use a metal probe to locate where the septic access lids were. Now all I do is lift the wooden cover and voila (I immediately have access to the heavy concrete lids). If you get a chance, take a look at this video czcams.com/video/82X578px1xs/video.html It was my first time having to do a messy and dirty sewage filter cleaning. Thanks for watching and commenting. Have a great week. 👍🏽🤠 04/10/24

    So I don't have to replace the cylinder on my J&S jack.

    • @houndsmanone4563
      @houndsmanone4563 Před 4 měsíci

      Matthew, I got my bottle jack to work for a short while then eventually modified the valve screw that regulates the fluid flow into/out of the jack cylinder. Since that modification, the fluid holds under pressure. It will be a year next month. Bottom line, a replacement cylinder would be necesary. If I had to buy one, I found a bottle jack at O'Reilly's that could fit in the J&S lift w/o too much modification. The J&S motorcycle lift is great product but their bottle jack is the weak link and I don't think you can get anything from J&S any longer. Though J&S claimed their motorcycle lift was USA made, it may have been but I think the bottle jacks they used were from China (just my opinion). I'll have to check and see if I can find which bottle jack O'Reilly's was selling that could replace the J&S bottle jack cylinder but right now, I'm still using the jack that I showed in the video.

      Matthew, i was rummaging around and found the bottle jack that I mentioned could easily replace the original J&S bottle jack that came with the J&S motorcycle lift. The bottle jack can be purchased at O'Reilly's Auto store for much less than what J&S charges for their bottle jack. Here's a part number and a link for the bottle jack from O'Reilly's that should fit the J&S motorcycle lift. Part Number: PT34126. Watch the finger tip location, had me cringing ...

    • @houndsmanone4563
      @houndsmanone4563 Před 5 měsíci

      Thanks @osi2484 for watching and commenting. There's pressure in the hydaulic line which does not allow the coupler to easily connect. The force applied to the coupler does not and will not mash one's fingers. Though it appears that it would sling shut and pinch one's finger, it will only clamp shut with a very limited amount of pressure and will not even pinch the finger. Applying pressure by the tool to the lines is like trying to connect two magnets with the same polarity. (i.e. two positive ends or two negative ends). There's little-to-no snapping pressure to crush a finger. This clamp-connector saved a tremendous amount of time and frustration connecting pressurized hoses with absolutely no injuries or mashed fingers. Again, thanks so much for watching and commenting. 👍🏽🤠 03/18/24

    Excellent build, and great ideas! Do you keep the rain barrel covered? Another way to do this so the animals can't pull it out, is to put one pipe all the way through, with a nipple on each end. Then you would cut big holes in the middle of the pipe to let the water into the pipe.

    • @houndsmanone4563
      @houndsmanone4563 Před 5 měsíci

      Thanks for watching and commenting. I haven't had any issues with the watering system, however, the pigs enjoy pushing on the water barrel just for something to do (especially the boarlings). I must make another barrel for my other pig pen to allow for more water for the kunes. I like your idea and may try something like that. Also, your idea will always keep the pipe from being pulled out. When one of those pipes come out of the barrel, water gushes all over then there's a mess. Thanks again for the excellent idea @truthstands4ever. Have a great weekend. 👍🏽🤠 02/23/24

    The bridge over my creek is pretty much washed up and there's no driving to the back 60 acres on my farm. My brother gave me a 21" galvanized culvert to put in a new bridge. Thanks for the video, heckuva project I've got coming this summer but this was incredibly helpful.

    • @houndsmanone4563
      @houndsmanone4563 Před 6 měsíci

      Yes Sir, you will have a lot of work ahead of you. I just checked my culvert bridge two weeks ago and the bridge is still sturdy as day one. Please realize, I have water that flows into the ditch but it is not a flowing stream. If there was a running stream, I would have used cement in addition to the wooden boards for the headwalls. The cement would stand a better chance if there was running water. You do not want water to get between the walls of your culvert pipe and the packed dirt/stone because once water finds a little pathway, it enlarges the opening and then all your material washes away. I hope you video the entire process and place on CZcams. Thanks much for stopping by and commenting. Good luck. 👍🏽🤠 01/24/24
