- This video is an improvised way to mount an Air Hose Reel. Normally they're mounted in the garage on the wall. The air hose reel is a Harbor Freight 50 foot rubber air hose on a rugged metal reel that has a rigid rewind spring to reel in the air hose. Join me as I make a bracket to mount the reel and then locate the reel out of way of traffic but still conveniently accessible. Dang, where do I get these ideas (haha). (I'm just being silly, and I thought you'd get a little chuckle from that comment). Please join me while I install the reel and thank you all so much for indulging in my projects (smile). Thanks Bruce. So true, Bruce. I've been guilty of having a hose rolled up and laying the rolled-up hose neatly atop a box. I hated when I needed to use it just for air in tire. There was so much unraveling and many times the hose got intermingled and twisted amongst itself. Thanks for the support and have a Merry Christmas. Thanks Joey. So far the location works out well. I've used the air hose and it sure is nice and handy having the hose reel. No more unraveling hose to reach to the area that needs air. You gotta make sure that when you extend the hose, you ensure the hose reel clicks and locks so your hose doesn't go flying back towards the reel. The spring on the reel is quite strong and has a lot of tension in it. So you just gotta pay attention and not just let go of the hose until the reel is locked in place. It's simple to unlock the reel by giving it a slight tug and it starts to reel in. I don't let the hose drag on the floor to keep the hose from getting gunky. Thanks for watching and commenting. Very informative and a great video for folks to watch before they start purchasing implements. I mentioned the same thing, that if they purchase implements, ensure to purchase quick-hitch compatible implements. it really makes a difference. Sure it cost a bit more, but if they're having to change implements regularly, the QH is a great thing to have if the implements fit the QH. Wishing you and family a great Christmas, as well. 👍🏽😊
Great idea for mounting the air hose reel. We put ours on the ceiling but it is not ideal as it always seems to be in the way. Those hose reals are great as it means the air hose is one less thing to trip over in the workshop. Thanks for sharing and take care
At one moment, I considered mounting the air hose reel high in the air but my ceilings are a bit over 17 feet high and if that heavy reel fell, that would definitely put a good dent in anything it hits, (human or vehicle). Hey G, I had a fellow retired Marine call yesterday evening and comment about air hose reel then discussed the stuff that's going one and used similar descriptive words that things are about to get a bit serious so we're always on stand-by. Stand-by for some Stand-by! Sounds a bit crazy but I always keep ears low to the ground for any potential crap going on and thus far haven't had to suit up for 2 decades. @@houndsmanone4563 , I contacted my state rep yesterday and called the Iowa Attorney General and the governors office today. An immense amount of pressure has been put on the A.G. to join in the Texas law suit and he refused saying that he had seen no evidence of fraud and that the states in question had run fair and honest elections. After refusing to sign on with Texas and the other states like the deluge of calls to his office requested, he tried to join the states filing a counter suit to Texas and the other states. Our governor blocked him from doing so. I think that she should fire him, if that can be done. He strongly went against the will of the people and should pay the price. I feel that president Trump will remain in office for the next 4 years. I think he saw this coming and was prepared to counter the fraud. if he remains in, all hell will most likely be unleashed . That being the case, we need to be ready to answer the call and be vigilante, alert, and have our heads on a swivel. Stay frosty my Marine brother. We were born for such a time as this. They may one day be writing history books about us.

You're right, John. I keep forgetting that. The main thing is I get to doing videos and think sometimes folks don't want to see that and then just put the videos in my archive an don't release them. Hey Houndsman - Great idea. I love having a hose reel in my garage. It's so much better than always trying to handle difficult hose (especially in the cold!).
I totally agree. I did notice I had gotten a bubble on the rubber air hose. It is a manufacturer's error so I am going to change the hose when it burst. Hey Don! What about a Molson Canadian? I know they sell it in the USA. I've checked and you can get those in liquor stores in TN! Lol! I've been drinking that brand, IPA 67 version (light IPA) until they end the production. Funny you publish a video about installing a hose reel. This is what I installed Sunday evening in the garage... The only difference with you, I was not clever enough to unwind the reel to make it lighter!!! I finally attached it to my small mezzanine, so I can reach any place in the garage. Was that shot this summer? Otherwise, it seems you got some very nice days recently! Here, it's been snow flurries for many days. Not much accumulation yet. Thanks Don!
What a coincidence eh? The video was shot 20 November 2020 and now it's a whole lot colder than when I shot the video but we haven't had snow. It did snow in the North western part of the state but not where I'm located. I'm about 30 miles from the ocean so the weather is much different. You're right about Canadian beer, Joe. We do have Molson beer available. Sorry, I just can't have any liquor while on meds. Having a beer was never an issue for me, years ago. So far, I'm liking placement of the new air hose reel, Joe.

Hey there, Mech. You said that right. For the longest tome, I had that rolled-up plastic air line blocking my access to the tool cabinet. I'd get there but when the air line was connected, you couldn't walk past it. Now everything is under the table and out of the way. Have Merry Christmas, Mech. I have two hose reels still not mounted, I think it is time to mount them. I have had them for about 20 years.
Mike, I was given the hose reel as a gift and could not think where to install it. So you see the configuration I came up with. Prior to a hose reel, I always had loosely wound hose stacked atop a box that I would unwind and then re-wind by hand which was not an issue.
I just accepted it as part of the process if I needed air for anything. I hope you get your air hose reel mounted where it will get great use. I'll admit, since I have a hose reel, I like the ease of getting air. Next is to replace my noisy pancake air compressor with one that is less annoying. Thanks much for watching and commenting.
