I highly recommend rewatching the series in the novel order if you havent already. I know you say you prefer shaft's order, but a lot of theming is missed. Without Kizu, Araragi and Shinobu's relationship is vague for most of the series, whereas with Kizu it becomes a very clean development - among other things. Hana after Koi messes with the thematic development of second season - so much that I believe Shaft order is the reason Hana is less popular than other arcs. Not to mention it turns a certain "oh haha" moment into a "huh? what?" moment. Koyomi in the middle of Owari is the most acceptable of the reorders, but personally I find it sets up Owari 1 just as much as Owari 2, and the Owari 1 finale becomes much more direct. It isn't too difficult to organize based on arcs as long as you pay attention to the names of the arcs as you watch them. If a new viewer can't figure out how to follow a watch order, I imagine they'd struggle with the show as a whole much more.

03 has so much more grit and horror than brotherhood. And i feel like it makes the vibes totally different (i like the grit/darkness better 🥲)

Monogatari is one of my all-time favorites. In recent years I feel Yofukashi no Uta captured some of the artistic animation along with witty banter, if you like the Monogatari franchise, I'd give it a shot.

I remember getting into Monogatari because of an amv using Into The Labyrinth by Kraddy, it was just so amazing looking, and i liked the design of the characters, and i think because i just watched The World God Only Knows, which i believe do have the same designers?? Or just have very similarities. Once i went down the Monogatari rabbit hole i just went deeper and deeper. And it was just when Second Season was starting to air, so that was like 11 years ago, which dang. And i have mostly been on the internet using this name for majority of my accounts cuz i just really liked Araragi, i dont necessarily live and breathe Monogatari, but it is always on my radar of like having to get into when new things come up which is why for me as an anime only Off and Monster season was my hype for the year. I am collecting the manga as well, and i have the light novels, i did read Kizu right before the movies came out as that was the first light novel released.

I finally got around to giving it a go a couple of weeks ago. My god was I disappointed. My best advice is that if you don't like the show in the first ten minutes you should drop it. Here's some impressions from the first four episodes. Why is this purple haired girl such a b****? My god, please just put some clothes on so we can get moving. This ADHD art direction is so aggravating. Oh, the character for snail contains the character for cow. Good for you. Oh, she just said enema. Can't imagine why that was worth it. Great, now there's a ten year old girl that is also disagreeable. She seems pretty self-assured; let's leave her to it. Oh god, he didn't listen. Oh god, wtf is he doing now? Many of the defenses of the series that I hear involve paying extremely close attention and/or watching dozens of episodes to pick up on subtle, nuanced detail. But I never saw the series do anything to earn that kind of dedication. Maybe it does it in the dialog if you can speak Japanese?

As much as I like this show I can't help but imagine how much better it would be without Araragi, and the girls bounced off each other instead, it also reminds me of a manhwa girls of the wild, it could be so much more if it got rid of the harem bs and just lived off the great characters

Dang it, I've only seen Monogatari through once. I've been meaning to watch it again for the last 4 years. With the new season coming out, it seems like the best time to watch it again.

Ever since Bake dropped in 2009 its been my favourite series and also one if my least recommended. If I talk about Bake to others I just say its wild and wacky and also artsy and hope that catches their attention enough to give it a try. Takes a certain type of disposition to like Monogatari

I really love monogatari so much, I watched it for the first time when I was maybe 11 or 12 and it completely changed everything about my tastes in anime another thing I love so much about it, is it feels like it was almost made for me, because I relate to all the characters so much and, it feels like, as you said, it has so much things about it that at least one of them is bound to put most people off, but none of them did so for me, I don't think there is anything that I dislike about it, like at all, everything about it feels perfect and there is nothing I would change about it

This anime is a god send after the ABYSMAL anime traunwreck we have been having the past 15 years. It has heart it has action it has funny moments it has everything.

Monogatari is an almost impossible recommendation, but every time i find someone that watched the entire thing i'm really happy about it. Because if takes a great commitment to watch the entire thing, and uf you do yo are gonna love it.

That's a huge fan of Captain harlock I can tell you that he's never works well as the main character of a story. It's always other people and how they react to him. This makes Captain row the only real Captain harlock clone I've ever seen.
