Originally, Tezuka's Bible anime series was supposed to come out in the late 80s, but didn't happened until 1997-ish.
I think probably because Tezuka was gravelly ill before he died or something.
Ah yes,, the greatest argument against Joshua committing genocide, the Canaanites weren't people lol
Bible said they were giants, scattered descendants of the Pre-Flood Giants. They basically tried to supplant humanity and God wanted them removed.
The end credits stuck with me for decades because that's where the animation was at its best
POLSKA AND KORWIN KRUL MENTIONED! 💪🇵🇱
I remember watching this series all the time back in the 90's on the EWTN channel. This needs to be remastered and released on DVD, Blu-Ray, and on streaming services.......
What’s ironic is that Christian media and anime have a very similar issue now, where they self canibalize themselves and don’t take much from outside influences due to them both being niche. Like there was a time in the past where religion and art/entertainment would share so many elements, due to religion being intrenched in the culture. I think anime isn’t as bad on this front, but it is interesting to see the similarities
Holy crap... I just looked up Tezuka's furry art and....if deviantArt existed back then, he'd it's favorite artist. Not only did have have animals with boobs, but transformation. All that's missing is pregnant Sonic and he's all set.
5:44 1997 In The Beginning
I love getting these notifications when waiting for church to start lol. Going on watch later 🤙
“It was the holy land, it weren’t jurrassic park. This is bullshit.” XD where’s this from?
Division III: Football's Finest. A friend showed me clips years ago and that scene has always stayed with me
Given how much sex and violence (and talking animals) he added to Buddha, i'm shocked he didn't include the stuff actually in the OT here. I guess the vatican said no?
Possibly, although most of the series was handled by Osamu Dezaki since Tezuka died while finishing up the Flood story. I think he may have intentionally self-censored based on how he handled other projects that were intended for Western Audiences but I'm not sure
@@CulturedCrusader - I have to see it now i know Dezaki was involved. Cool he took over so early but kept Tezuka's style.
Help:
In the 14th episode (The Escape from Egypt / Exodus) there was a song and it's the hymn from Moses and Miriam (that song about The Lord throw to the sea the horses and riders …).
Can anyone help me to get the lyrics of that song?
look up "Zeno: Kagirinaki Ai ni", it's a movie about a Franciscan missionary in Japan
Not going to lie, you seem to know more about the Old Testament than every Catholic I have met so far. Stay in the word, man let the Holy Spirit lead❤🕊
Can we consider God one of the most powerful characters in anime?
Great vid! I need to read the Buddha manga. Didn't know Tezuka had made any religious series tbh. Was there an adaption of Solomon and him threatening to split the baby in half in the anime?
Yep. Also the Queen of Sheba makes an appearance as does Solomon's many wives and concubines who worship foreign idols. It skips over all the other kings after him though and goes straight to Cyrus defeating the Babylonians and Assyrians
I’m excited for someone to ask me for anime recommendations now
I just finished reading his Buddha manga, i gotta see his jesus one now xD
@@CulturedCrusader - . It was good moment-to-moment, with coherent stories within each chapter, but didn't seem able to pull a coherent long-term plot together (aside from the surprisingly small amount of stuff drawn from the actual life of the Buddha). It can be a bit repetitive (how many times is Buddha going to say he'll become a monk, or doesn't like what current monks do, before he will actually become a monk or change his practices? a lot of times!) and Buddha is rather boring post-enlightenment (though the extended cast make up for that), and the comedy was childish slapstick or rife with family guy level references to 70s movies. Despite these flaws it was still pretty fun - i was just going to watch the incomplete trilogy of anime based on it, dunno if that's any better. The buddhist Judus, Devedata, comes off as way more likable than Buddha himself at least to me xD
May a thousand likes adorn your channel with clout
May you be as pewdiepie, based and swedish
For some reason, the Japanese dub of these Bible anime by Tezuka is really hard to come by and the ones I found easier is the English dub.
I just saw a Brontotherium in 1:32.
I found the woolly mammoths again!!!!!
What an icon
You read off a script or go off the top of your head?
1:46 NO, Kimba rumour already debunked
I'm pretty sure that Kimba thing is actually a myth, if yourmoviesucks is to be believed.
Maybe I'll check out his video on it. I thought his point was just that Kimba is so much more than just something the Lion King took inspiration from
@@CulturedCrusader Ironically it seems like the Lion King didn't take any inspiration from Kimba. Even the name Simba is a complete coincidence since it's swahili for Lion.
Blessed be God forever.
As the foremost authority on what constitutes a "Christian Anime", I do not endorse your classification, and can confidently say that "In the Beginning" is NOT a "Christian Anime."
Its actually a great show. I agree Roco is the worst when he's anthropomorphic.
Interesting fact: Osamu Tezuka was commissioned by the Vatican and began the project but he only completed the Noah episode. The rest of the series was completed by Osamu Dezaki of Lupin the Third fame. That's why the design becomes more angular and less cartoony.
