Mer sommer for pengene (Europris' Sommerlåt 2020)

Back in February 2020, I was asked by Kristine to help her write a summer song for Europris (where she worked at that point) for the summer of 2020. We had just made a Christmas song in 2019 which was a great success and all the stores played it across the country as well as releasing it on all the major streaming platforms. She wanted to repeat it with a song for the summer collection so we we...

Strap on your favourite skiing equipment and blast down hill in Aspen, Colorado! Sadly I've never been there myself (yet), but every film, series and even The Rippingtons have something inspired by Aspen. So why not me too? I've had a long drought and little to no time composing due to work and family that needed my attention, but during the Holidays, I did manage to get something down. Had no ...
Tylden - Can't Slow Down [Full Version]

Terje Tylden approached me about doing something with an idea/sketch he had earlier. I took his catchy "warehouse jam" and started laying down some foundations that I figured would suit the song, and it ended up being this upbeat pop tune you now can hear. Kim Wilde - You Came [80s Power Pop Mix]

After making that little shorts video with all the first chords played on 55 synthesizers, I finally had time and energy to tackle the full song and video. Here is Kim Wilde's You Came, beefed and dressed up in all sorts of pastels and wonderful glory the 80s could muster! Kim (and her team) already did a bang up job with the original, so it was daunting to even start doing something with this ...

Just one of those songs that came out of nowhere. I felt I hadn't made anything worthwhile in a long time and just started on the initial arpeggio groove, added some Yamaha TX816 bells and leads, and the rest just fell into place like pearls on a string. I asked my friends Håvard and Terje if they wanted to add some proper guitars instead of the MIDI guitars I laid down initially, and this is t...

FASCINANTE TU VERSIÓN ME REGUSTO
in urban strike voice "COMPLETED!" probably said this before but this defintly sounds like something from Mario kart.
That’s because it was based on the three earliest games they had… Mario Kart 64, Mario 64 and Waverace 64. :)
@@AndersEngerJensen still great work.
Bless you for making this! I'd just found and listened to the original, when this came up in the suggestions. I almost cried with laughter when the bass kicked in! The repeated mulligans brought back many memories...
Hehe! Glad you like it! The mulligans… embarrasing! I never figured out how to really play this game well. And at one point it seems the game is freezing… I was either getting a phone call or someone came at the door when I was recording the gameplay! Forgot to edit that out! 😂
I don't know why, but this should be the ending of attack of petscii robots
how does this not have millions of views?
Definitely the jd800 sounds better, the jd08 sounds slightly distorted like most modern synths tbh
how do the keys feel on this?
Horrible! Very sticky and sluggish. May be because it was old and not very well serviced, but it was hard to keep a steady beat. I’m also not comfortable with heavy weighted piano keys, and prefer weighted synth keys instead. :)
1:59 ITs an rickroll!
Years go by, but this doesn't get old.
Phillips CD-I
Another i wanna find is the piano version of the nascar on TBS theme. Was used for the starting grid for the 600 in 97
The best version out there✨Thank you!
could i use this as a settings theme in dsi mod? sounds actually way better than i thought it would / could
Sure. The MIDI-file is shareware. Just credit the use and link to my channel(s) where possible. :)
@@AndersEngerJensen great! thanks!
Great song! Finally I found the full version. Love it
Very well done, you are quite talented! Have you ever heard 'Dhivara' from 'Baahubali: The Beginning'? Wonder if remaking that would be of any interest to you?
Thank you, very glad to hear that. Nice song, but I’m not going to embark on that though. :)
2:10 is the peak
Thanks!
Thank you very much! 💖
Love the 8-Bit Guy cameo! Great work on this!
I’ve never heard of Discovision until 10 mins ago and this video just got me so hyped for it!!
Mind blowing great way to put an absolute classic on steroids
play it on the techmoan get lucky boombox
Just showed this video to my dad - brought back many memories for him! Back in the day he couldn't afford the full game so he bought magazines and just played the demos over and over again! Thanks for the amazing cover Anders!
I thought the JD-800 was clip A.
I guessed the wrong way round! Absolutely loved that lead line starting at 4’55”.
Great remix - well done!
Using a plugin to completely block this vertical video 'shorts' nonsense on CZcams and now content creators are starting to upload them as regular videos? Not fun! Please upload normal videos or use the 'shorts' feature provided by CZcams.
Well too bad. Sometimes I don’t have time to make full videos. Dad’s been ill the past year and died recently and work is chock full of events and stuff since we’re understaffed and the rest of us just have to work 150%. That leaves little time and energy to do fulltime video content. It is what it is when it happens. 🤷🏼♂️
@@AndersEngerJensen Sorry to hear about your dad. :-( I wasn't complaining about the 'short' factor, but the vertical video thingie. CZcams has a special place for that, which I blocked, because vertical videos suck. Anyhow, your content by itself is still great. Keep up the good work!
Wow!!! I'm learning Swedish at the moment (!,5 years in or so), and I can understand nearly everything in this song without having to look it up. But what's more, after having listened to it only once, the melody is _stuck in my mind! Good job by you and Kristine!
This was cool!
Sounds great! What is the software in the background? Is that a DAW or a midiplayer? Maybe make a video on your workflow on how you did this project?
I believe he uses digital performer
Yes, I use Digital Performer 11 from MOTU. It’s been my platform since 2003 and version 4.0. I’m done converting tye files, but maybe in the future I’ll make something about it. Been so hectic with family matters lately and now extravaganza corporate events at work so time is stretching thin. :)
Another fiddly little Roland box reboot removes the overarching feature that made the JD-800 such a classic - the insane amount of controls and intuitive workflow this allowed.
True, but it’s an affordable alternative for those who can’t/won’t fork out 1500+ USD for the original. :)
Lacks the cute percussion effect that I so liked in the original. I know it's there on other sounds, but doesn't sound the same. Can't have everything, I suppose.
That’s the deal with GM and SMF. Lowest common denominator and only MIDI, no samples, no special processing, no «free polyphony».. basically only limits. ;)
Kickin' out the jams, yes you are! I might have to fool around and order _Petscii Robots_ for my retro box.

Nice !
Sounds great!
Great soundtrack indeed.
Great music 🙂
I don't know if it was intentional, but midi files is one word. Is that the full name of the file/type? Is it meant to be in all caps?
It’s spelled both all across the internet and old diskettes, but I couldn’t be bothered to edit the videos. 🤪
I absolutely love it!
Very Nice. Good Job
This song is exceptional ! I am genuinely interested in how you write something with such positivity inside ? What is its "secret sauce". I’m sure if you made a video explaining it, it would be a huge success.
Thanks! :) I don’t have any big secrets other than just always loved happy chords and major chord progressions. This song started out with the sampled arpeggio in the beginning and everything just went from there. Building on it with groovy basslines and catchy chords/lines really.
Hi Anders , since you are an expert and have a lot of gear, are there any reverb rack that sound like the on board reverb on the Rolan Mt32 , U 220, Sound Canvas? Tha
Not that I know of. The reverb unit on those synths are rather distinct, and also a bit lo-fi, so your best bet would be to tweak some cheap Alesis MidiVerb or Yamaha SPX etc to mimic it.
@@AndersEngerJensen A bulb came on shortly after messaging you and decided to check the service manuals of a few units, to see if there is a dedicated reverb chip , and found that the Boss RRV100 and the pedal Boss Rv2 share the same 12bit reverb chip with MT32 . I just bought an RV1000 , uses a 16bit chip shared with the U110 with the same algorithms found on the 12 bit version. Thank you for answering ; I have always admired how polished your music sounds , specially like your Silverimage album , since I love melodic -symphonic-goth metal and your production style ,somehow silky and thunderous at the same time , really makes shine the compositions. Pure ear candy !
You don’t need to speak a foreign language to pick up what Anders puts down.
😄🤘🏼 Thanks!
Haha. Europris. Ellers fengende nok ;)
Holy cow. I knew the original was bigger but I had no idea it was that huge.
That's a nice song. Norwegian sound really nice here. I could grasp words with my rusty German knowledge and my beginner level of Swedish. I got interested in Swedish last year while studying a completely unrelated language that comes also from a Nordic country. I would be happy to hear other songs in Norwegian! Btw, is it Bokmål?
Thanks! Glad to hear that. :D Yes, it’s written in Bokmål, but the dialect would be Oslo- or Østlandsdialekt.
1:23 - 1:56 Goosebumps... every... time... Great work!
I have to know what model and "module" (not sure if that's the right term) the lead synth is that plays the kick ass riff. In particular the one that kicks in at 1:44
It’s a mix between one of the Saw leads in the Yamaha XS7 and one of the expansion packs in ReFx Nexus 2 (at the time, now they’re up to Nexus 4, but the expansions are all compatible). I can’t remember exactly which one I used right here without digging up the project files, but I believe it was one of the EDM or Bass and Leads packs. Also a sort of modulated SAW lead with some extra PWM texture. :)
@@AndersEngerJensen Amazing! I wasn't expecting a reply let alone one so fast. It's the exact kind of sound I've been looking for to play around with
Ugh I’m sure I’ve commented this a ton on your videos previously but god damn your production skills are just out of this world. Everything sounds so lush and beautiful.
