Nothing Left To Lose [Feat. Alex Ball]

- The 90s called and wanted its groove back. I told it to stop, collaborate and listen! I've had this Alex Ball song on the agenda for quite some time too, and finally got around to finish it up. As always, he made some really catchy hooks that instantly got my 66% shuffle groove going. And I of course went a little more happy-pappy dance floor early 90s style, sprinkled with some glossy 80s FM ear candy and more.
This is for those who wonder, taken from Alex' video on the Yamaha TX81Z sound module and how he made a "90s Banger" on it. I've also used some TX sounds and enhanced the palette with all sorts of 80s and 90s relevant gear. Hope you like it! ;)

LYRICS
Verse 1:
Now this is the verse rap section
Cover your ears for your own protection
‘Cause I’m gonna lay it down
Drop my lyrics all over the town
I got prose up in your face
Teaming up with that Lately Bass
We’ll be here for a little while
With rhyming couplets in a 90s style
Verse 2:
‘Cause this is the way it should be
Got funky sounds from the 81Z
I got class, I’m a rapping hero
My FM sounds are truly through-zero
I got MIDI to play the notes
Sing back the melodies that I wrote
My tunes play across the nations
Slicker than CC information
Chorus 1:
Now I’m saying I got nothing left that I can lose!
And I’m showing that there’s nothing I should prove to you! Oh-oh! (2x)
Verse 3:
I’m back with more rhyming verse
The second time will probably be worse
But I’ll give it my best shot
More crappy lyrics is all I got
But I’ll bring some synth puns with ’em
References to algorithms
‘Cause I’ll be your smooth operator
You’re carrier, I’m modulator
Verse 4:
Feedback, push the envelope
I’ll spit more rhymes as you losers choke
I got skills like learning the theory
Which is why my sounds ain’t dreary
I’ve got groove, it’s so surprising
With Stereoping, avoid menu diving
So I’m gonna smell you later
And leave you with the sounds of the tone generator!
Chorus 2:
Now I’m saying I got nothing left that I can lose!
And I’m showing that there’s nothing I should prove to you! Oh-oh! (2x)
Bridge:
(Vocal adlibs)
Chorus 3:
Now I’m saying I got nothing left that I can lose!
And I’m showing that there’s nothing I should prove to you! Oh-oh! (3x) - Hudba
Period correct remixes of spoof songs are the way forward. 😃
Indeed! Keep those catchy hook lines coming! I'll be remixing out the wazoo! ^_^
The "New Thing"? Hmmm. Re-Spoofing?
Streets of Rage music!💪🎇
Oh yes!!
The late 80s early 90s style of electronic music excellent 👍
another Banger from Enger
M1 piano - the sound that launched a thousand records. You hear it today and it's instantly 1991...
Had to fix some room in my luggage for a mint Yamaha TX81z when last time in Tokyo.
Epic win!
Nice to see the Ensoniq SD-1 see the light of day again in 2022!
Lately Bass, boppin' beats, killer rhymes by the late great M.C Ball, why more do want!
Nice footage of the club!! Thanks
You’re welcome. That’s all Alex Ball, I used the footage from his video. ;)
It was already one of my favorite Alex' productions, it getting an Angers treatment is great 🤣
Very nice track. Reminds me of Captain Hollywood Project. 👍
I really like it, both the music and the video too. Great stuff 👍👍😊
Fet musik och HILLARIOUS lyrics!!! Snyggt jobbat! (nice work!) Amazing combo!
Thanks! Glad to hear that! 😄😎
"All this has happened before, and it will all happen again..." Don't know why this put me in mind of the original Battlestar Galactica, but it did. This genre of music is not exactly my cup of tea, but this is well executed, and it shows that I didn't just "change the channel" on ya. All your stuff has a level of professionalism to which I can only hope to aspire as a musician, myself. Keep on truckin', ya'll!
Those bars were fire
Loved this! Another great song and production! Please don't ever stop doing these, they are wonderful! 😀
You guys are awesome. The Destined Duo
Excellent job Anders! Reminds me of the 90s club scene. I feel like I am in a time warp. Cheers! 🎉
I had a TX81Z and a DX27 in 1987. I loved them, but there wasn't a decent piano simulation within 100 miles of them. Still, the Lately Bass sounds is still damn cool. Great take on Alex's song!
Yeah, the accoustic pianos weren’t their strongest suit back then, but we took what we could, right? They do make lush e.pianos though. 🤓
@@AndersEngerJensen Oh definitely - I was happy to have ANY synth back then. They did have good electric piano sounds. I always wanted a sampled grand piano but couldn't afford one. My next synth was a SY22 - a 12 bit grand piano sound. I loved it. Now I'm on a MX88.
Wait, Alex is singing before the 2-minute mark? But that’s illegal.
😂😂😂🤷🏼♂️
Amazing as always, Anders! With all that studio gear, it's neat you were still able to mix in the little Reface. Good stuff.
Two songs in one week, it must be Christmas early! lol
😂🙈 Got the spirit over me as we say over here. More is in the pipeline, but also have a hell of a work week coming up too so not sure when I’ll get more time on my hand. A little here and there I guess.
Just find out your channel with a friend sharing MCA Discovision and man, I love your work, you just got that vibe right, that's amazing ! Hope you're going to keep up the good work for a long time !
Did y'all try to pass a USB battery bank as a shaker of sorts?
LOL
You mean the shaker in the video? That’s what they look like. 🤷🏼♂️😄

Where does the "DXism" preset come from and what is it?
It’s just one of the patches on the SY99, it may be from the demo diskette they included. Sounds like a hybrid DX7 electric piano, but I’m only playing the SY99 for visuals. The sound in this song is from the TX81Zs. :)
F***ing brilliant! LOL
hmm it's missing something.
…like what?
@@AndersEngerJensen I dunno yet... maybe i'm wrong. Umm more cowbell?
not feeling this one. vocals really clash against this one and I really enjoy Alex's work.
