Mer sommer for pengene (Europris' Sommerlåt 2020)

  • Back in February 2020, I was asked by Kristine to help her write a summer song for Europris (where she worked at that point) for the summer of 2020. We had just made a Christmas song in 2019 which was a great success and all the stores played it across the country as well as releasing it on all the major streaming platforms. She wanted to repeat it with a song for the summer collection so we went to work. It took us a day to lay down the lyrics and melody and I spent a couple of days doing the final backing, mixing and mastering. I quickly threw together some stock content visuals and lyrics for her to use in presentation to the upper management. They were thrilled and said they liked it... but then BOOM! March 12th happened and Norway was closed like the rest of the world. The song then just got shelved and you know how those next years went by. Since then, Kristine moved on to another company and nothing happened with the song.
So I figured I should just throw it out here for fun, since I think we did a pretty good job of making a catchy summer tune. The lyrics is as you can see in Norwegian, so it makes more sense for us Scandinavians, but I think you can get the vibe from it anyway. It's a bit cheesy and it's a corporate song about buying what you need for your summer holiday and save money on a store I would compare to Target/Best Buy in the US and Costco/Lidl in the UK.

Wow!!! I'm learning Swedish at the moment (!,5 years in or so), and I can understand nearly everything in this song without having to look it up. But what's more, after having listened to it only once, the melody is _stuck in my mind! Good job by you and Kristine!

Even though this is a corporate song, it's still one of the better ones I've heard.

Haha yes! June is usually the month to embrace it. July comes with rain and floods. :/

😊 It’s easier to understand if you know some, yes. Basically just summertime and happy times. 😄

That's a nice song. Norwegian sound really nice here. I could grasp words with my rusty German knowledge and my beginner level of Swedish. I got interested in Swedish last year while studying a completely unrelated language that comes also from a Nordic country.
I would be happy to hear other songs in Norwegian! Btw, is it Bokmål?

Thanks! Glad to hear that. :D Yes, it’s written in Bokmål, but the dialect would be Oslo- or Østlandsdialekt.

I don't understand the lyrics. But whatever it maybe, it makes me embrace the 45C heat here in India. Positive vibes throughout!

A bit unseasonal here: it's Autumn, and Winter's just round the corner.
