      So I observed before that it was in the 420s. What changed? My rev rate hangs around the 430 range myself, so I’m curious to know some of the things you worked on to increase it that much?

    • @BigSkyBowler
      @BigSkyBowler Před dnem

      @@met4lb4ze the increase came from focusing on increasing my wrist action on the ball at the release point. Keep in mind that two things are needed for a high Rev rate: 1. Your fingers need to be as far under the balls equator as possible. You can do this by resting the ball on your ball side forearm and keeping it there through the swing. 2. How quickly the wrist goes from a cupped power position to an uncupped position. Remember to roll the ball off your hand, don't lift on it. The faster that process occurs, the higher your Rev rate will be.

      @@BigSkyBowler I think my problem is I lose a lot of leverage due to where my swing plane puts my ball at release. I could be a lot closer to my ankle. In turn I tend to get off balance and lose a lot of power.

    Are the 2 finger holes in your bowling ball cut uneven? If so I think you should talk about that. My biggest pet peeve about YT bowlers is they don’t talk anything about drilling holes. Finger grips, etc. I almost broke my wrist bc I was trying to spin the ball without grips.

    • @BigSkyBowler
      @BigSkyBowler Před 2 měsíci

      Each finger hole has a specific pitch that it is drilled to. This is measured to be unique to the bowler. Performance fitting. Finger pitches change how much pressure each finger feels at the release.

    • @BigSkyBowler
      @BigSkyBowler Před 3 měsíci

      I can try, but this part is hard to teach. Check out this video: czcams.com/video/cPn6RY5hM7w/video.htmlsi=hchLBSLDTEhQowP7 It's a feeling that you have to develop over time. Try thinking of your arms as the chains on a swing set at a playground. When you are coming up high in a swing, the chains go loose but as you come down, they tighten as gravity pulls your butt into the seat. In the same way your bowling ball acts this way as long as you focus on allowing gravity to do its part in the downswing. You have to feel the weight of the ball in the downswing.

    I have realized that it doesn’t matter if you bend at back “Belmo Simo” swing or not “Troup Jesper“ every pro player unbends the elbow completely at downswing creating a longer arm span. I’m having a problem unbending my elbow, perhaps you can make a tutorial about this. Also I have learned that the swing of the two hand bowling it’s like a magician making a bow to the audience not rotating shoulders keeping shoulders more facing the ground and lifting the ball by using spine tilt, this created more speed, power and consistency in my swing.

    • @BigSkyBowler
      @BigSkyBowler Před 4 měsíci

      You are correct on several fronts. The key to a fluid swing motion as a two-hander is ensuring that your ball side arm relaxes in the downswing. To get the ball into the backswing, its a combination of spine tilt and your non-ball side hand assisting. I have done a video discussing this specifically: czcams.com/video/cPn6RY5hM7w/video.html

    Great vids! Watching and digesting all of them to improve my game. Thanks for putting them up! On the topic of spare-shooting, why do pros avoid using their typical strike shot for spares? For example, as a right hander, it seems a lot easier to use a pocket strike shot to shoot pins 1 and 3. For 2, 4, and 7, I move the appropriate number of boards right and then shoot down the same strike shot. I've found hitting left side pins to be pretty consistent this way.

    • @BigSkyBowler
      @BigSkyBowler Před 6 měsíci

      Thank you for the compliment! On the spare shooting. The reason we do this is to take the lane completely out of play to give us a higher chance of success in picking these up. When you hook at a spare, your involving more variables that could reduce your chances. With that said, there are some pros to choose to hook at their opposite side spares. In the end, it comes down to being consistent. If you can hook at your opposite side spares and consistently make them on sport conditions, there is no reason to change.

    • @Incendia
      @Incendia Před 6 měsíci

      @@BigSkyBowler Thanks for the insight! I can't remember seeing any pro hook into their opposite side spares - everyone seems to go straight at it. But I do find consistent straight shots challenging so I try to minimize that risk (for me) by hooking in. That said, for same-side spares, I'm definitely working on using your method of maintaining the same target and shifting the feet as needed. Cheers again!
