I'm excited when/if you put out a video on Tomas Kayhko and his tremendous accuracy at the US Open. I swear I didn't see him miss the pocket once. His elbow does interesting things during his approach, cool to see that looked at too.
He is very interesting... has amazing accuracy for how many things are moving during his approach.

The person who produce a retractable approach with 5 feets of lane to practice at home will make a lot of money.
At 4$ a game it would be much more appropriate.
I get what your saying! Prices are going up. Town and Country where I bowl is one of the only places left in town that doesn't charge like $20 + an hour for lane rental.
I know the owner quite well and he helps me out with game prices.

Loving the content. Any recommendations on teaching my 8 year old how to flatten out his hand. He will hook the whole lane and take out the 7. He gets very upset with himself and throws tantrums. Which is embarrassing lol.

Definitely, it sounds like it's time for him to learn about the clock.
The palm of your hand, is the face of the clock. Your middle and ring fingers are the big hand of the clock.
If those fingers point at 12 o'clock at the bottom, the ball will roll forward and he will be able to square his angles up.
If those fingers point at 10 o'clock at the bottom, the ball will want to hook the entire lane.
The other part is, make sure he's not throwing top heavy of a ball. He should be throwing 8-10 lbs.
At a young age, ball speed is likely an issue as well. Don't give him anything reactive, make sure he's throwing plastic. That will help him overcome the speed.

I would recommend having him learn to throw 2 handed without his thumb. Honestly, I see no reason why a two hander would want to use their thumb as it only complicates the entire method.
@Big Sky Bowler I totally agree. A couple years ago I was bowling Wisconsin state bowling tournament, wasn't aware of the rule change since i stopped bowling. Another bowler came up and was nice about it and let me know. Threw the rest of my games Kamehameha DBZ style lol. Was not a fan, filled all my thumb holes this year.
I like this channel, but you absolutely need to know what your speed and RPMs are at the pin deck. Stuff recorded at the midlane is useless.
The pins are 60 feet away from you, not 30.

When you check RPM and ball speed, you need to check your off hand stats before the lane has a chance to impact the ball.
The first 15 feet (arrows) is normally the part of the lane where the most oil concentration exists. Because of this, this is where your stats will be most accurate. Anything beyond that and the ball begins to encounter friction. Friction slows your ball down and reduces your rev rate.
After you know that information, it is easy to calculate your stats at the pins if you really want to know what they are. Your stats at the pins do not matter because carrying a strike has nothing to do with rev rate or ball speed at the pins. It has everything to do with entry angle and continuation through the pins.
@@BigSkyBowler Makes sense, but idk about that last line. The four best, most decorated, and most established bowling coaches over the last quarter to half century or so (Joe Slowinski, Mo Pinel, Mark Baker, and Mike Jasneau) pretty much all say that all four of the things you mentioned are equally relevant to carrying a strike not just entry angle and continuation.
For example, if your ball only has 100 RPMs and is only going 6 MPH but has PERFECT entry angle and continuation through the pins it will strike WAY less than a ball that is going 500 RPMs at 20 MPH with an entry angle and continuation that is less than ideal. Extreme examples but when you bowl at a high level every last number counts. And the exception IS the rule in bowling most of the time.
And while friction DOES slow the ball down, it shouldn't decrease RPMs. At least not the end over end roll type of RPMs. Those should go UP. Yes you'll get less side roll but any bowler who has made a living at this sport will tell you that when it comes to side roll, 10 to 30 degrees is all you need with the highest acceptable number being 60 degrees. Which is why "spin biscuits" (bowlers who have a tilt higher than 90 degrees) never truly see their ball get to the roll phase. It's usually stuck in the skid and hook phase. So yeah, THEIR RPMs will go down with their ball speed but that's only because their RPMs aren't what I call "proper" (under 60 degrees).
