Star Wars Galaxies Combat Upgrade IS COMING!
Link to CUemu discord: discord.gg/eW9SvHSncK
Pre-cu = The combat system before the Combat Upgrade, which was present at the initial launch of SWG.
CU = The Combat Upgrade. A big update that revamped almost every useable item, classes, and the way combat worked.
NGE = New Game Enhancements. Another big update that did what the CU did, but worse.
GCD = Global Cooldown. The time between attacks/actions.

Ravendawn is MMORPG of the YEAR

PvE? PvP? Crafting? Gathering? Housing? Ravendawn might just be the greatest MMORPG to release since World of Warcraft, and I'm being serious. If you liked archeage, you'll love this game. 250 dollars for Ashes of Creation? How about 0 dollars for Game of the Year? It's a better deal. I promise. NEW SWGEMU SERVER! Star Wars Galaxies Pre-cu LIVES IN 2022!
I think you have to go to Yavin, but personally that's just me
tbh all the footage is pre-alpha and usually the graphics is something that's mostly finished in late stages of the game development cycle, I'm safe to say that this game is 2-3 years away at least. so we'll see later on what it looks like.
SWG was my first game and my most beloved. The concepts of this new game look really hopeful (especially the plans for reintroducing entertainment) , but the style leaves oh, so much to be desired. The avatars and monsters looks awful-not at all like a world someone would want to live in.
I still have that Video from 9 years ago bookmarked where Halo was still working on CUEmu :D Hope they finally got things going!
@MrSheduur things are progressing nicely. There are some bugs really keeping them from having a playtest server atm, that would fall under "gamebreaking" in the sense that your character gets stuck in pretty big ways. GMs can fix you, but having to do that for hundreds, if not thousands, of players is a pretty big problem...
The moment I saw this teaser video I could not believe it. They must have such a limited budget to work on this thing. I love how Raph is still a good dude and is always open to engage with community and former fans of SWG and UO because he knows that this is what brought him joy and success in life, so I cannot hate on the guy. But even when the graphics are supposedly placeholders... oh my does this look ragged. And I believe they are going way too far into this "everything is in a flux state" theme instead of trying to simulate something realistic. This is what made UO and SWG so great. They went and tried to recreate something logical in terms of socio economics, but this new thing looks like an attempt to play god more than anything. And the damn toon graphics... it just cannot be taken seriously. Looking at the number of views their teasers got, I doubt it will have a chance to even get to a release...
Will you give me back Wildstar, please?
I would also be interested in trying out wildstar!
I like the idea of shaping environment, however there is a risk it will look much worse than predesigned worlds. There is/was a mmo called dual universe in developement that promised a lot of freedom as well, reshaping environment and building whatever you want including spaceships and futuristic cities but it failed as what could be built didn't have much purpose than being looked at. You could build the Millennium Falcon just to see it getting shot by borg cubes (simple cubes with thrusters and weapons) that were pvp meta. The lesson I'd draw from this is that the real difficulty isn't the building/creativity part but how to make it become functionaly meaningful to the game. As a dev you might dream of the endless possibilities you give to the player but from the player side you might ask: why would I do all this? I'd also have concerns about the peacefulness i.e. opt in pvp. In a sandbox environment pvp is good/natural way creating emergent gameplay, leading to dangerous situations that might cross your plans. A peaceful environment where you can avoid risks easily might become boring if you don't come up with something that can fill this gap that isn't pvp related.
How do i even start to become a Jedi or force sensitive
thanks for the info on restoration, dont need to play that rainbow dumpsterfire, whew, dodged a bullet, thanks bruh.
Years? I've been waiting decades.
2 of them!
give me access dammit!!!!
How dare you compare this to SWG....
I hate how all Pre CU servers are really small, my glory days of this game were PreCU and even though legends has so many plauers , i quit the game the second that patch gutted the game and all my professions in real life, can't bear to try to learn to like it now that its a private server. No matter, I can't get Infinity to work on my steam deck anyhow
Agree Graphics are lame and very dated to be honest !? looking very Lame, SWG emu's still way better? :) ( more of a phone ap game, very disappointing ! )
Pinned comment!
Any idea when testing will be open to the public?

@@Gospelgg awesome thank you for being the #1 swg CZcamsr and streamer I love watching the vods can rarely catch the live streams so thank for keeping them up
How can I get an invite to test on the CU emu? This is storm by the way.
join the discord and talk to the devs discord.gg/eW9SvHSncK
Listening to your conversation, about abilities for bh, commando, etc. they should add to Jedi a force pull that pulls your opponent to you and roots them for 2 seconds. Shortening the distance from from one another. Evolve just did a huge combat update on all classes. Great on balance and fun on group and 1v1 pvp.
hope don t end like DUAL UNIVERSE
I feel like they should of just held onto this and polished it up a lot more, kind of disappointed by the style of this
@@ragewild same.
Keeping a close eye on this server. Great work (as usual)
@lordkorto9173 thank you, Korto!
Give me closed testing access dammit!
let us test it dammit!
I think it looks like $h!t cuz it looks like fartnite
Never got to try true CU and I didn’t really love how resto was handled
Swgr community is trash
Resto2 was great. Now its basically a modded nge server just not as good as legends.
What is up rommi? Hope you doing good. Its been a while since i last played some SWG, missing it lol. Wait what is this, last i heard you was olaying on restoration, is this that?
Nope. This is CU emu. I'm currently participating in a closed test. You can join the discord here: discord.gg/eW9SvHSncK
32:56 idea for a credit sink with jtl - if a faction controls most of a planet its either really low cost/free for players of that faction call it a docking fee or something and for someone of the other faction charge a little more docking fee+ "not to be snitched on" by the starport and planets that can't have player cities /bases placed on them free
i get woke crowfall/no mans sky vibes from this quite disappointed no offense to raph i loved starwars galaxies was my 1st mmo and will always be one of my faves but this doesnt look appealing.
i remember when CU released, i took my jedi and just picked all the cooldown abilities in the skill tree, none of the passive skills. My skills tree looked so dumb and inefficient. I deleted every "skilled" pvper on Rori and they wondered how i did so much damage. I just spammed all of the cooldown abilities because they all did big damage so it was way OP. CU was dumb and made the game worse. they took away the RPG growth progression of the game and replaced it with a terrible WoW unbalanced combat system. Even a year into the release things like Spies could just one-shot anyone. I wish someone would take the vanilla game and just work on and balance the combat system. Clean it up a bit.
Spies were NGE bruv
@@th3.unkn0wn.0n3 thats why i said a year after cu
What you are describing is not CU.
@@th3.unkn0wn.0n3 that's why i said a year after cu release things like spy were clowntown.
@@user-xu5xj3ym4k that was the nge, completely different game engine.
Please tell me there wont be hoops to jump through to get the client? I would LOVE to play this, CU was probably the most fun i had in SWG. I just dont want to wait 3 days for 'admin access' or 'find a copy of the game online'.
Jump to Lightspeed?
Most likely when SWGemu is finished making it.
CU done right. :)
I assume when swgemu gets JTL, will be compatible with this CU server? Looking good.
Mostly. It has to be converted over to CU, and kashyyk space will need to be done since pre-cu didn't have kashyyk.
Having JTL as well would really be the sweet spot of SWG for me.
I'm hyped for this release. Hope they open up testing so we can help!
I don't know you, I don't even know what swg is. But I can already tell this will be the best private swg cu server ever.
Lol, you mean the only CU server.
Might give it a try, once server is up and running. I mean... I've played SWGEmu since 2009... So I wouldn't mind bugs here and there.
I love Raph and I will give this game every chance. My honest first impressions are it looks garish in the color choices. It's possible to have vibrant colors and not have them clash with each other. I would take a look at color palettes from Disney movies.
Current information on this server? Like the last announcement in Discord was from 2022.
working on a video for it now. Stay tuned, friend.
> Something looks off about them. They got plastic looking skin, which is quite uncanny valley - but the biggest problem is probably that when they turn their heads, the eyes just smoothly turn with the head... and that's something a human can't really do... the eyes always stick to something and "jump". The animals running around have very choppy animations, and the dude walking just hast the weirdest gait ever... But the thing is... if you do judge a game by it's WIP, pre-alpha graphics - then this game probably is not for you anyway. Because this is never going to be a high-end graphics showcase that wows people with it's rendering tech. All their focus is on game systems, simulation, player-driven economies and player-driven ingame communities/societies... all things which are kinda hard to show in a short trailer.
I'm just conditioned to many ambitious games launching in a state like that. I've seen Raph's statements of him saying the animations/models will be improved upon, which gives me hope. I would actually still play it if it launched looking like that. I mean, I'm still playing SWG after 21 years, so the systems involved have me very excited. My criticism is is how I feel about it, but it's also my worry that other people will be turned off by it and potentially miss out on a great game. I want Stars Reach to succeed A LOT.
Good to see Playable World's is obeying Blackrock and Vanguard principles of inclusion and diversity. Always nice to see a man in a dress leading a company. Hopefully we can make a world sporting a rainbow flag in Stars Reach.
I will say while I get where the criticisms and the video is coming from, it did motivate me to sign up as a tester simply to see how seriously they are taking things or if this will go like every other attempt at MMORPG development. To give my take on the subject, it actually reminds me of a cross between "Star Wars Galaxies" and "Wildstar" the latter of which you can be forgiven for not having heard of now, though it was heavily hyped back in the day. I assume they went with this kind of style for two reasons. The first is simply that as WoW and Runescape proved, a stylized, cartoony style of artwork simply ages better than trying to go for a more realistic look. There is nothing wrong with planning for the long term, even if most games of this sort do die. I would have preferred something closer to say SWTOR than this, but perhaps they didn't want to do that because they were afraid it would be too similar. The second is these types of games are a massive magnet for those seeking adult entertainment and to have things operate as an adult virtual chat mode. Whether or not they actually insert sex animations, full nudity, and other things into the game, it's almost guaranteed that a lot of people are going to be "hot chatting" probably within the first 24 hours of operation. That kind of thing doesn't bother me, but the cartoony art style does tend to make this stuff when outed seem less scary and offensive to normies who aren't into that kind of thing. The cartoony style vs. the realistic style can be the difference between being seen as "scary" and "silly", and you can survive with the latter perception. Not to mention I notice furries all over this thing as opposed to the more Trek or Star Wars "Rubber Forehead" aliens, and I assume it's designed to draw in that micro community as they can be very dedicated to people who cater to this even if there are not many of them overall. Furries will whale massively, even for things that aren't that good overall, and many will even admit it. The cartoony style makes doing the animal features, fur, etc... easier. Not to mention as that whole subculture and fetish community (which can be different) started with cartoons and a lot of furries do tend to be creeped out if they portray things realistically. They more or less droll over anime cat girls, not having sex with Chewbacca.... and that description of it comes from a friend of mine who is a hard core furry, so I assume most won't be offended as it's simply extremely candid in terms of what most (but not all) are like. This is why many furry fetish games oftentimes have realistic human models and cartoony anthromorphs living side by side, as a sort of pornographic "Roger Rabbit" or the old movie "Cool World" for those who have even heard of that. I doubt many people have read this, but I don't think new MMOs need to reinvent the wheel, and "SWG" was always a fine game, and something people wished would come back at a serious level. It was killed by licensing and a new MMORPG with the same license... beyond a lot of mismanagement by Sony and them not getting their core player base. Something like this could tap into a lot of MMORPG players who dislike the way current games of the sort have gone, and want something more stable than say private servers in open world crafting games. I will also say that depending on how it's monetized, something like this is clever, as it has just the right elements due to drawing in the younger players who like the crafting stuff and thee fetish material it could open the doors to (and not just furry stuff), while also appealing to the older RPG play style favored by older gamers with deep pockets, many of whom will be pervs as well. While what I'm saying here, probably does sound like nightmare fuel to some people, realize it is a formula that could result in a long term money maker if juggled correctly. It's one of those games where they could do something like use a subscription service to keep the kids away from it (due to needing direct access to a credit card), which also means a smaller, but dedicated player base that will invest in expansions. I'm not saying I expect this to be an adult game, I expect it to be more like well... other games with that sort of community as a sideline, but planning ahead for that to happen. That is a guess as to why there are so many anthromorphs in the artwork as opposed to more traditional portrayals of aliens given the visual references to Star Wars and Star Trek. Either way, I am interested in seeing how it turns out. I just hope the devs realize it's very unlikely this could ever be "the next big thing". As a long term low to mid-range consistent money maker that could keep some people employed to keep developing for the same thing it could work however. It's sort of like how I told Funcom TWICE that their game plans were really good, but then I found out that both "Age Of Conan" (the MMO not the crafting game) and "Secret World" were intended to be these massive MMORPG blockbusters that were supposed to print money like the heavy hitters... and that was never going to happen, especially in the latter one. "Conan" had more potential for it initially when I was in Beta, but TSW could never be mainstream as most people just aren't smart enough to find some of it's missions (namely investigation ones) fun, and a lot of the plot stuff is behind them.... beyond other issues. The trick is to know your lane so to speak, and I am hoping the people doing this both realize this, and also understand exactly the types of people they are going to attract, and if they don't want to cater to that and turn on those sorts of people when the pressure starts they will wind up basically lighting piles of money on fire.
"I am explorer and a killer"; Space - the final conquest. These are the voyages of the Starship Enterprise. Its continuing mission to discover and subjugate strange new worlds, to advance our dominion and vanquish all who stand against us, to conquer the galaxy for the glory of the Empire!
how is the server going just heard about it
Very much not a fan of the art style.
Thanks for watching it all! I did a get a haircut in between filming these. :D
Looks 2009 quality
looks bad
The art style reminds me of like Wild Star which was polished and looks 1000% better than this. The next time they release some footage I would hope we get a better idea of the end goal.

CU emu. I'll be making videos about it soon.

@RedGhost1990 I believe they are still looking for the publish 23 client, but they are chugging along in development and I don't think it's going to stop them from eventually releasing a server to the public if they don't get it. There is a server up, but it's closed testing atm. Videos soon.
