I hate trusses. Mainly because of the storage space you lose. Think of how much storage you could have had if you did rafters. It’s hard to fine quality trusses. They seem to be made from the cheapest lumber and sometimes break simply by lifting them. Most likely if you check, I think you will find some 2x4 uprights were cut too short causing the bow.

You don’t need a big compressor anymore. Everything’s battery / electric. A small compressor is good enough to blow up tires and run the odd air tool. If you’re going to sand blast you’ll probably just get a portable compressor. Could do bolts under the stairs or drill press or 50 ton press.

So I am curious if you have considered a few things and just thought I'd comment in case you haven't. Will you leave the lights as plug ins and not hardwire them? I would say it's a good idea to install outlets up there so the LED fixtures are easy to update in the future. We did it at the warehouse I used to work at. Second do you plan on putting a wash sink downstairs? After getting all greasy working downstairs, it may be nice to have a wash sink downstairs to clean up at rather than having to walk upstairs. Great progress on the shop overall though, it's looking great!

@33:21 Really? Only 150 amps for a huge workshop like that?? The incoming power line should be able to support 200 amps easily. Compressor, welder, lights, power tools, chargers, etc eat up a lot more power than you think really quickly. Better to have too much than not enough, I say when it comes to electric. Easier to build now rather than have to upgrade later.

Jesse; great window in staircase location, nice Shop, light Grey Primer and Paint is better for Shop than dirty White ! I do like your Air Compressor outside idea, I've been recommending Al Lumnah to put an Air Compressor, not in his solar power room, but on the exterior side of wall, enclosed, like your considering ! Of note, Air Compressor auxiliary tanks are ( industry standards ) considered explosive, due to internal rusting, but' I worked for an Oilfield company 'Weatherford' in Calif. and we used Air-Starters for our Diesel power units, ( function test before load-out ) but Shop air supply wasn't adequate, causing down-time waiting for Air Pressure build-up ! So' I said; replace Shops Air supply system by enlarging overhead pipes ! Then the entire Shops overhead 1" lines were replaced with 2" lines ( quite a job ) solving entire Shops lack of Air supply issue, when the planning was to give us another Air Compressor and that included running 220 to it, when others in the huge Shop also had Air supply issues, wanting the same, which is why the issue was stuck in wait-and-see stall-pattern ! The bonus is; Air Compressor when being used, last longer before building back volume pressure, So' less frequent noise, less heat generated by compressor, less wear-and-tear, just install drain at every drop ( oil air powered tools persistentlly ) and the drops can be swedged-down to 1" pipe or 3/4" pipe if preferred ! Another thing _ instead if ever buying expensive 'never-sieze', with brush in middle of containers threaded top, instead Buy for $100.00+, 5 gallon bucket, Kopper-Kote _ it is the same exact thing, ( lab tested by Weatherford, another one of my suggestions ) Oilfield-Drillpipe-Thread-Dope lubricant, so easily available, from Oilfield suppliers, works for 5th wheel skid plates and a Gallon lasts a lifetime, so splitting-it with someone ( 4 way ) makes sense, just start saving the cans for brush in lids handy-ness !

Perfect to move hevy or multiple tools from project to project in the shop. Make shure all benches are the same hight. (When i worked in industry we called them ”ambulances”.)

Never put a staircase by a door or window. It’s easy access for a thief. Unless you put bars up or cement windows, you could be asking for trouble. Reinforce the window.
