You’re gonna want to make sure that when you’re cutting your old hydraulic line as close as possible to an old bird nest. That way if it happens to catch fire you stay warm and adds some extra light. Killing to stones with one joint. Mint..

Gotta love how much like Lego big trucks are. You get a frame, stick an engine and transmission you like in there (maybe change it later idk) and slap a cab on top. Use it like that until it's not what you need anymore, then make it into something different.

Just found your channel, looks like a great project! I run the same truck and love it. I wish mine had an exaust brake, never seen that before on these. That is the good 466E just EGR, very stout engines. Just be ready for electrical problems they all have them. Can't wait to see the rest of the build. I bet your power issue is the connections for your injector driver module or your injector pressure regulator. The female sides of the connectors get worn thin and vibrate around. Check the injector driver relay in the fuse box on the fender. The plug sockets get loose under it and it can cause what your getting. If you need any info on that old girl just ask and I'll try to help. Thanks for sharing with us!

Regarding the defueling / surging: I work on a fleet of these things. First thing you want to do is clean the prefilter screen prior to the spin-on fuel filter. It’ll probably be caked with grit and rust from the tank. Clean it up, and change the fuel filter before doing anything else.
These internationals are bad about the coolant leven sensor going bad, but it doesn’t cause the truck to de-rate. When it fails it will display CHECK COOLANT on the dash, and shut the engine off completely after running for about 30 seconds. Same for low oil pressure.

If you didn't know acid will literally dissolve rust to a like new metal Condition. Obviously immersion is better. Then there's the neutralizing requirement after. I've experimented a little and it's no joke, amazing how well it works. Muriatic is a popular one. There’s vids on the process and mixtures. I just bought some EvapoRust as people rave about it, it's expensive though. Reading about it, the PH is almost neutral like water so safer to work with. Gonna experiment a bit more with it.
Supposedly Por15 was bought by someone and doesn't have the same formula anymore and it's failing more. Rustoleum is a slightly acidic paint and that's why it works so well on rusty metal etc. Tractor enamel is also supposed to work well.

I bought a subcompact tractor a year and a half years ago. I've been looking for a truck and a 17' - or 18' trailer.
Then I said to myself that a rollback tow truck would work for my needs. I don't drive vary far anymore. I just need a way to haul my tractor or skid steer.
I live in Michigan, and the prices for any type of truck are so expensive. If I could find a good rollback for under $10,000, That would work, I'd spend at least that much for a good truck and trailer. Love the videos keep up the good work.

The main problem with the maxxforce DTs that I remember in the smaller end was mostly VGT problems. On my 04 I had similar problems where it would run great on way out and dog or derate on the way home usually loaded lighter. We never fully figured it out. I tested fuel pressure at idle and at higher rpms and played with the fuel regulator so I had 65ish psi at idle and 75ish at running rpms and that seemed to give it more power on the way out but not help the derating. The next thing we tried was we had a couple injectors not keeping up so we replaced them and really had no change other than the egt curve across the cylinders leveled out to where it should be on warm up. The only thing I didn't try was monitoring the egt post turbo to see if that was sticking. International charged me few thousand and never actually changed it either.

Jesse if you have a air rivet gun use a straight bit and hit the sides of the hyd fittings and the vibration will loosen up the fittings it makes so easy to unscrew them. I’ve also seen a guy make a bit for his Sawzall and it worked just as well to remove hyd hoses no air lines to carry just a battery for the Sawzall. Enjoy your enthusiasm in repairing and making what you’ve dreamed up.
