couple things with this machine, the " throttle " lever is actually the choke, thats why it kept dropping back down, the switch on the left is actually for the low and high idle, not for vibrate, the vibrate switch is on top of the directional handle, the original motor for that is a honda gx610, i have the same machine and it works great
Hi Jesse. I had that problem when I was a mechanic for Briggs and Straton engines. To add more friction to the throttle lever, I used those friction washers, you know those wavy washers that you place between the lever and a flat washer. As you tighten the nut, the lever becomes more difficult to move and stay in place. wish that could help!
11/11/23...ya gotta give Noah his🛩 Pilots license for driving yur 'new' double drum center articulating 35 HP Whacker Roller (plate) Compactor...yup, it won't be long before he will be fixing, welding, Bulldozing, skiddsteering, excavator digging & building his new addition to your concrete house 🤣LoL! Much enjoyed your step-by-step verbal priority of improving this Roller/Compactor; from incorrect battery location contributing to cracked(?)> correction < severed hydraulic line, replacing this 5000 psi hose...carburator air filter housing, tricky exhaust manifold re-shape (bend removal) & re-attach (no leaks 👍), instsll new plastic contour hood, re-route new carb cable & new (5-pin) key/ignition module. Oh yea, love the quick splice-in showing your helping #1 son attach round 'cup' feeder inside his Rabbit cage...yup Jesse, your videos are wonderful to watch!😊🔧! Stay safe & carry on🙂🍺
Dear Jesse, it gives me great pleasure to see the expertise with which you approach all the tasks you are given. I wish you and your family the greatest possible success. I would have enjoyed working on these craft activities with a mini-job for you. greetings from Germany. 🙂
Thanks Jesse. You are so going to enjoy your new shop! You will still accumulate stuff which will fill the space … every contractor I knows has filled multiple shipping containers, barns, etc. 😊
I was literally shocked that this unit had a gasser from the factory, usually these smaller rollers and plate compactors come with a single cylinder Hatz diesel engine.
Its amazing how folks can take a piece of equipment and run it into the ground.....great job fixing it up. I have a mower with same silly throttle i just use a bungy cord and it works a treat.....i tried a wooden wedge and it just falls out......also isnt Andrew Camatha getting rid of the one he had? I see he was talking about getting rid of it.👌 great videos putting sweat equity into everything you do making it possible and affordable.
The hydraulic steering in your roller has a pumping mechanism in it that moves oul without the engine running. These are very similar to the rotary valves used on forklifts, farm tractors and some rock crawlers. I built a small tractor with a Toyota Corolla engine and the factory power steering pump was adequate for the steering valve and John Deere hydraulic steering cylinder.
That was a very interesting video which I really enjoyed watching . I guess that prolonged use in hot weather will determine if the hood can withstand the heat from the muffler .
I believe with the two smooth drums, that's actually a roller for asphalt (not to mention, aggregates and millings like you're putting in). The sprayer nozzles keep the hot asphalt from sticking to the drums. Seems like if you run the spay nozzles on dry powdery low clay dirt (maybe not so much on a road base), you'd create a muddy mess in the undercarriage, On larger areas to be compacted to provide optimum moisture content, they bring in a water truck to water down the site.
Wrap the muffler with fiberglass heat wrap. I just bought five feet for $14 from Temu....great buy for my ATV muffler. Try reversing you throught cable cab handle so throttle-up is down rather than up!!!!!!
sometimes wonder if it is worth it to get something that you need at a cheep price but then have to sink so much extra money just getting it running to where it should be?? Having that hood on does make a difference. enjoyed the way you added the kids in this video, with helping to get the little rabbits food bowls attached to his cage🙂, Look forward to the forward to next video🙂
Great job! I appreciate your efforts to fix all the issues to make everything correct. I have zero mechanical skills compared to you but my favorite cheat is JB WELD for metal. That stuff is awesome! Looking forward to your next video
Nice you try to keep things a was designed.. An try to keep the unit working safely. You may need to add a plate to help keep the heat off the hoses !!!!
That stile of Wacker is a bit old but is still very handy to have around small jobs. Give your self a tap on your shoulders you done very well in make it work I really enjoy the video. I hire the latest and newest and it was the best I hire by far, got some videos on the channel if you want to see how it looks like and operate and in one video I show under the hood and the engine is top class Diesel engine is very economic on Diesel gas.
I would advise running a small cable from the frame to the hood to keep it from hitting the full extension on the hinges. Each time it hangs, it will weaken the plastic.
Yeah, it seems such a shame to have to undo what somebody already did. Moving the battery and cutting that huge hole in the top... WTH! It might have made sense to him at the time.
There's a high mount muffler( you have that one) and a muffler that is lower profile than the current one. The engine model and serial numbers should be stamped into the block as well as those god awful stickers that the writing usually wipes off, when one does a degreasing of the machine. This should be on the side behind the starter.
I just put a gx630 in my Skidloader, the stock governor is set super low, and it’s pretty easy to adjust. When you’re going full throttle, you’re fighting the Honda governor and that’s why it won’t stay. It’s also why most compactors have the twist throttle like an airplane has. I run one of those airplane throttle cables with a tach, cuz I don’t want no stinking governor telling me what to do!!! Supposedly there is a rev limiter built into the Honda CDI could do you can’t over rev them
You could glue some sound dampening mats on the inside of the cover around the heat shield foil to make it even quieter. I'd guess that's also how it was stock. What also make the cover heavier and therefore sit more stable. Aside from that you and Andrew seem to be on a (german) roll lately: Andrew with his Bomag and you with your Wacker Neuson. ;-)
I love your statement that to attach throttle you need to replace engine cause throttle cable would not fit XD You are a good one... Btw. to save material do not cut at middle ( you did while making cap for air filter) but from the side.
Hi Jesse recon I would get that button on the forward and reverse working for the vibration and the water working correctly then it would give you more control for laying tarmac and would certainly make it more appealing for a tarmac contractor on resale
Might be a good idea to check and see if the hydraulic pump gets hot after moving the muffler next to it, and if so, put some more of that heat barrier over the pump.
Little Smooth drum packers are for compacting fine gravels or asphalt, the water is to keep the asphalt from sticking to the drum, not for gravel. Pad foot packers are for courser gravels and dirt.
Any machine with hydraulic steering will work without the engine running, most are just too heavy for you to use it. The piece by the steering wheel is essentially a hand operated hydraulic pump that provides fluid to the steering cylinder. With the engine running the fluid provided to that unit is pressurised, thus making it easier too steer.
Throttle return spring was weaker on the smaller motor that it had before, you need to either put it in a different hole on the throttle assembly or stretch/replace the spring.
Time to implement that "kid's channel" you talked of some time ago. I am in to construction, not a kid showing off (the older one seems to have much better manners). You have such an in depth interesting channel of building techniques, it isn't a good forum for kids.
It likely got a "craigslist paintjob" prior to sale, or has been restored at some point. Given the condition of that hard line im gonna guess it used to look well used, abused and beat up with more rust than paint on it.
It looks like they welded that muffler to the exhaust flange. I would have cut it there. Flip it over and re mount it. If it fit then swap ends of the muffler discharge. It should fit.
Thoughts: Did you ask the person that you bought the roller from if he had other parts? I wonder if they had a hood/shroud, and maybe the old engine for parts. The hood in any condition is better than paying for the new one. Also can you buy bulk hardline using flared or Flareless Bite Type Fittings and get a bender? Another option is that if I go to one of our local hydraulic suppliers who has all the tools but no staff to do the work (a mirror image of a Harbor freight store except north of the border). Buy the pipe, O-rings, connectors we can assemble them onsite in the store for like $30 for a 3 foot hardline. We can do the same for hoses and they sell all sizes! They stock 88 hydraulic hardline connectors and 235 hydraulic hose connectors not to mention the adaptors to connect everything up.
All machines with hydraulic steering has what is called an orbitrol valve, it allows for proportional steering, but is also itself a small pump that can be used for emergency steering. Typically for larger machines, Gear reduction means you have to turn the steering wheel many times round when engine power is lost in order to steer.
Jesse, that first ignition switch was made by Indak, and is standard equipment on a lot of riding mowers and other mobile equipment. A screwdriver will work, but would tear it up. The second one is more of a commercial equipment switch, and should serve your purpose better. It too looks to be made by Indak.
re throttle cable: a friend had a similar problem on a large mower. He decided the internal cable what slides through he sheathing was too long. I don't recall how much he shortened it but on the second cut and re-bend it worked for him. I have no idea if such a mod would work for you. I just remember him saying the excess cable length was pushing the throttle back down.
I would line the rest of the plastic cover back toward the driver with heat sheild more to resuce noise than heat. Im always a fan of adding extra cooling so i would mount a fan to suck air past the muffler out through thevents just for some extra cooling.
The hood is most likely not just normal plastic but instead a type of carbon (CFRP) or glass fiber reinforced high temperature resistant plastic. I don''t think that you have to worry about that at all.
I would simply look through the Stens catalog of Honda mufflers and found one thats tucked close to the engine and thats usually a zero turn or a little concrete dump buggy. We have ran dial single mufflers and made our own exit pipe to connect the 2 also
Looks as if it's possibly missing the eng cover at the articulation side as well. Fabricating something to replace that would probably go a long way to even more sound reduction as well holding the two sides together at the back. You know for a future repair. Like you said not a priority right now.
Not sure if this roller is the same way but the model of wacker we had at work used the switch as an electronic throttle and the lever to the left of the steering wheel was the was the choke to start it.
Honda motors are reliable for gas engines. Always start and run good. Make sure you get non ethanol gas for it to prevent irritating carburetor problems and they will be as reliable as a diesel engine.
Use like a saw tooth piece of metal so the throttle cable control "clicks" or has those little stops for the handle to rest against Jesse... simple and effective. I hope you can understand what I mean as it would just go on the dash next to that lever presently.... gentle pressure to the side so to release it
I have the same machine, and it currently is leaking out of the top plastic piece where the steering wheel is. You have any ideas/tips how to get that steering wheel off to get to the cyclinder.
You have the patience of Jobe, and no cursing!
Good job Jesse!
A nice treat for a Saturday afternoon.
Well that was a handsome little machine - at the end.

Saturday morning coffees on!!! Here we go! love your channel brother!!Cheers!;-)!!
I was literally shocked that this unit had a gasser from the factory, usually these smaller rollers and plate compactors come with a single cylinder Hatz diesel engine.
Your problem solving skills are amazing.

First! Big fan of yours!

These are very similar to the rotary valves used on forklifts, farm tractors and some rock crawlers. I built a small tractor with a Toyota Corolla engine and the factory power steering pump was adequate for the steering valve and John Deere hydraulic steering cylinder.
I assumed that the water facility was for preventing the rollers from sticking up with hot roll tarmac.
That was a very interesting video which I really enjoyed watching . I guess that prolonged use in hot weather will determine if the hood can withstand the heat from the muffler .
Nice preview of the next project Jesse!
I ran a bigger roller and i filled the drums with old oil. Regards from South Africa
Some fire proof insulation, like used on wood stoves, might insulate the muffler from the cover enough to prevent it melting.

Well if nothing else,it’s a cute little machine. I can see we’re it would be good for pad work.
happy sunday Gods blessings over you !
If it's like Kohler V-twins the instant shutoff is ignition kill, the other shutoff is a fuel solenoid in the carb.
Great job! I appreciate your efforts to fix all the issues to make everything correct. I have zero mechanical skills compared to you but my favorite cheat is JB WELD for metal. That stuff is awesome! Looking forward to your next video
Good job Jesse. Thank you for sharing.
Most definitely looks a lot better. Thanks for sharing!!
Nice you try to keep things a was designed.. An try to keep the unit working safely. You may need to add a plate to help keep the heat off the hoses !!!!
It went from a hackjob to a nice unit!
Good for thebresell value!
Everything that says Wacker Neuson is expensive!
Keep it up! Cheers from Sweden
Thank you very much for the video. 👍🤗👍🇸🇯
Another great job
That stile of Wacker is a bit old but is still very handy to have around small jobs.

05:28 it’s a good job the kid is there to help and tell you what you’re doing wrong 😂😂
Love your channel
5:24 best part of the video. Lovin the new narrator
seems weird that the previous owner made so many modifications, and poorly, when the machine itself looks to be in cosmetically very good shape
I think it was actually the guy before the previous owner that did all those hack jobs
Yeah, it seems such a shame to have to undo what somebody already did.
Moving the battery and cutting that huge hole in the top... WTH!

It's called the Richie Bros auction paint job. A quart of yellow and another of gray probably added another $1500 of "value" to the unit.
You’ve improved the value of the compactor greatly. Nice job!
Another great video thanks Jesse

The only thing with Andrew's fixes are they are only just enough to get going again until the next break down, Jesse looks at permanent fixes.
I love your statement that to attach throttle you need to replace engine cause throttle cable would not fit XD You are a good one... Btw. to save material do not cut at middle ( you did while making cap for air filter) but from the side.

A hydraulic shop not far from me brazes hydraulic lines together for emergencies, but most of them have been in service for a lot of years.
Nice work, Thank you
Great fixs video Jess
To bad at takes so many man hours up when you buy some of these equipments.👍
Throttle return spring was weaker on the smaller motor that it had before, you need to either put it in a different hole on the throttle assembly or stretch/replace the spring.
Maybe remove the spring and replace with a linkage, no need for return spring as it will be operated at the trottle stick.
@@janus3759 I'd agree except it sounds like it also has a governor, based on the behavior he's observed.
Nice work! Gets some decals on that and you will sell it quick and make a tidy profit.
Time to implement that "kid's channel" you talked of some time ago. I am in to construction, not a kid showing off (the older one seems to have much better manners). You have such an in depth interesting channel of building techniques, it isn't a good forum for kids.
Jesse you should change the heat shield to protect the top or the muffler after your change it is more forward. Regards from South Africa
With a bit of work and bush fix thining the work is done very well.
The drunk baby made more sense than the president.🍻
Man, that thing's minty fresh for being a 2006!
It likely got a "craigslist paintjob" prior to sale, or has been restored at some point. Given the condition of that hard line im gonna guess it used to look well used, abused and beat up with more rust than paint on it.
Textbook wrench flipping. Lost art

Cool roller!
geeeeezusss, it drove up the ramps with zero tread

Jesse, this may not a full restoration it is certainly on the way with a few more tasks. Every thing done was done in that direction.

you might consider putting a cable or shock between the hood and the body to keep it from over working the plastic at the hinges when it opens
If you burn a hole thru the hood, put a bonnet scoop over the burnt bit and a couple of gt stripes!
That is an asphalt roller. The water supply keeps the asphalt from sticking to the steel drums.
This video needs more sunglasses and trucking.

Super 😊😊😊😊😊

Nice repair job by you. You sure are clever
@jmuller86 I recommend adding a steering knob to your steering wheel for easier one handed steering :)
Put a hole in the blk cover & use a longer bolt for the air filter??? 🇬🇧🇬🇧👍👍
For the throttle, you can tighten up the nut on the throttle lever on the actual engine itself, which will make it drift down less.
Use like a saw tooth piece of metal so the throttle cable control "clicks" or has those little stops for the handle to rest against Jesse... simple and effective. I hope you can understand what I mean as it would just go on the dash next to that lever presently.... gentle pressure to the side so to release it
Power cables like that are simply welding cables and longer ones are easily obtained and ends put on.
I have the same machine, and it currently is leaking out of the top plastic piece where the steering wheel is. You have any ideas/tips how to get that steering wheel off to get to the cyclinder.
That Noah is a hoot
Tighten the nut at the pivot under the air cleaner
Good video. Seems to me that detent lever on the left console side would be the correct throttle plate. That's definitely not for a choke.
1:04:28 Battery check good!
