ForeFlight Quick Tip: Where's the Airport ?!
ForeFlight looks very intimidating but after watching this video it’s not so confusing ! I enjoyed the breakdown ! Thank you dearly !
Glad you found the video useful. Thanks for watching! Wayne (DA40 KSBA)
Does windy show mountain waves?
Not to my knowledge.
I liked The Beatles music in the intro
It’s in Microsoft Flight Simulator, where I pre-fly all my routes. While also using ForeFlight. 😉👍🏻
Since we have ForeFlight now, isn’t it ridiculous to still learn an E6-B in PPL Training? Thoughts?
Must say I agree with you. 🙂 Wayne (DA40 KSBA)
The towered airport looked kinda of complicated I was lost in the mouse click. Maybe use this for non-towered.
KCDR is indeed non-towered. Thanks for watching! Wayne (DA40 KSBA)
I could have used this today! Great tip!
Glad you found it useful! Wayne (DA40 KSBA)
Okay I loved this, I’m about to do my first solo x country tomorrow so my nerves are up but this was so calming!
So glad you enjoyed the video, and even found it calming! 🙂Bes wishes on your XC. Wayne (DA40 KSBA)
Green needles are VOR, Magenta GPS .. I thought?
13:10 Raymond misspoke, and I missed it. Yes, green needles are ground-based navigation (VOR, LOC/GS) and magenta needles are satellite-based (GPS). For VOR approaches, the pilot can also shoot the approach with magenta needles (i.e. GPS) while at the same time "monitoring" the raw ground navaid (VOR) on a second CDI. I was "encouraging" Raymond in this video to take the more difficult path of shooting the VOR-A approach at KSBP (12:40) with the raw navaid (VOR), i.e. green needles without any "magenta help". Thanks for watching. Wayne (DA40 KSBA)
wow very cool. I don't fly cross country much with rental airplanes before. Now that I have my own airplane, I can travel further and these are great tips for unfamiliar airports.
Awesome video.
Brian, thanks!
Wow ! Thanks for sharing this tip. I did my long xc to a non towered airport that I had never been to. It was a struggle to find but spotted it 5 miles out. This is very helpful and thanks again for sharing it
Johnnie, glad you enjoyed the video... happy flying! Wayne (DA40 KSBA)
Could I be so bold to ask your ages? I am working on my ifr rating. I am 67 and the oldest pilot on our small airfield. I am taking a ifr ground class at the local community college. All the students are in their early 20’s and then there is me. They kindly refer to me as the old man in class.
Of course, young man 🙂... I'm 76, Bill 72, and Joe 77. As mentioned in the video, Bill has been flying for 55 years. I started my flight training at age 65, and now have ~3000 total hours. Thanks for watching. Wayne (DA40 KSBA)
@@GeezerGeekPilot I heard your comment about how long Bill had been flying and did the math. He is a young 72. BTW your videos are the most entertaining and relaxing to watch as a low time pilot as I am.
@@frazerpeterson2857, enjoy every flight you take. All the best.
Excellent video! And I noticed that you guys must have polished off all the cookies :) Thanks for a great tour and I look forward to your next adventure!!
Oh, yes Jim, the cookies ran out on Fly Day 7. 😀
You need another column in your spreadsheet for cookies; estimated consumption vs actual!!!
My wife would be interested in doing a similar flight with her women pilot friends. How would she contact you. We live in Cool near Auburn CA. She has a 172 and a VFR ticket. Her main co-pilot woman is rated for a twin and has a IFR ticket.
Michael, I got your email and await contact from your wife and friends. Wayne
How do I find your window tint squares? Looks like a great product I haven't seen before.
They are very helpful. The translucent (green) ones: www.sportys.com/slap-on-sun-visor-extra-large.html The opaque (black) ones: wingviewtint.com/collections/universal-plane-tint/products/slap-shades?variant=39630939979850 Thanks for watching! Wayne (DA40 KSBA)

Thx for watching!
Great overview. Clearly described, well organized and enticing photos. Thanks, Wayne!
Karen, glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching. Wayne (DA40 KSBA)
Wayne..Your wife must have supplied a huge number of oatmeal raisin cookies! Are you sure you were under gross weight on day 1?? Great videos as always...Jim
Jim, she did indeed… a rather large Tupperware container. 😊Thx for watching!
Beautiful collection Wayne.
Thanks!
love that I'm in the cock pit too. Was wondering what snacks you had.
Oatmeal cookies; trail mix
So fun!
Nice! Been using Foreflight since 2019 and you just increased my situational awareness 10-fold with this tip. Thank you.
Very glad you found the video useful! Wayne (DA40 KSBA)
Just loved watching your adventures!!.I felt like I was there in the plan!
Linda, we always have you in the Plan!! Thanks for watching, amiga.
Wayne, you are living the aviation dream, again
Indeed; I'm very appreciative.
Ah Oaxaca City.Such a lovely town. Hope your brought back some mezcal Wayne!
Bryan, it is a great, authentic city. Mezcal is a bit strong for me... I stick with Tequilla or Ron.
Great Video. Thanks for sharing

Bill, from here the landing looked great!!
Great to watch stories from this gang. Great historical notes from Jose
Always good to fly with José. Thanks for watching. Wayne (DA40 KSBA)
Awesome video. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching! Wayne (DA40 KSBA)
So jealous!
Bill will nail that landing someday!
Yes, he does. Actually, on our last big adventure in my DA40 (Caribbean, 2020) he nailed many a landing. Thanks for watching!
If you like to fly to MMCU , I can show you around and perhaps take you to Creel (MMGA)… and maybe some advice…
You three look like you’re having way too much fun! :-)
Indeed we are! Thanks for watching. Wayne (DA40 KSBA)
You guys be safe love your videos im was born in sinaloa it nice to see it from the air im 54 and barely taking up aviation, your tone of voice gives me reassurance that i can do this i travel alot to sinaloa by car my dream is to one day fly there, anyway i wish a safe journey!
@uscero89, I started my flight training at age 65... so you have plenty of good flying ahead of you! You will accomplish your dreams. All the very best wishes. Wayne (DA40 KSBA)
Great adventure Wayne!
Love ❤️ it. You 3 amigos did a fine job! What a great adventure!!!
Looks like a great adventure, been seeing the routes posted/uploaded and wondering when a video would be out…..
Thank you for taking the time to capture, edit, and post this. Your efforts are appreciated.
Many thanks!
Hey, I just saw this on your channel and thought it was excellent. I was wondering if you know if there was a way to change the traffic pattern entry? My home Field is Montgomery. MYF and we typically fly right pattern to 28 right. Fore flight, for some reason, shows it to be left pattern traffic
Oh yeah I just didn’t scroll all the way far enough down I was on my phone not on my iPad
All good 🫡
That was a strange entry at the towered airport.
'promo sm' 🙈
No question ForeFlight is top self, but they do force you into purchasing an expensive iOS product. If ForeFlight was available for Android, I'd probably try it, to me Apple is overrated and over priced. iFlyEFB runs on Android, Windows, and iOS...as it should be.
Tim, thanks for commenting. For some reason, EFB authors (Garmin Pilot in particular) seem to have difficulty developing a product on Android that is of the same quality and currency as their iOS product. Wayne (DA40 KSBA)
Awesome, thanx for sharing
Just finished this series. Great job. This central Canadian has roamed as far as the Yukon, Vancouver Island (in addition to the snow bird trips to Florida), and I've been wondering if Alaska VFR is still on my bucket list. AND I'm STILL wondering after this series. 🙄
Kudos and thanks for sticking with the whole series! My take is that VFR is not all that doable using the coastal route (i.e. Ketchikan, Yakutat)... but VFR would have a greater chance of success via the trench or Alcan routes. Again, thanks for watching! Wayne (DA40 KSBA)
Wow! Impressive planning Wayne. More people need to see your videos. Your attention to detail and preflight discipline is noteworthy and inspiring. A true GA ambassador to safety! Cant wait for part 2! What an adventure.
Wow, I'm sincerely humbled by such kind words. Thanks for watching! Wayne (DA40 KSBA)
