Yeah it's bad, since it forces people to play in an unconventional resolution. It does add its own meta to the game with positioning, but I don't particularly think it's good.

@@LinNull Why does it force people? A guildmember of mine did grandmaster without forced resolution. didnt you sayin the description "Getting a 49" monitor won't give you a greater advantage" ? Because there are no skills with global range, but maybe im getting somethign wrong here

@@wisnia030 It's a disadvantage if you don't. You could get Grandmaster with a controller, but KB/M would still probably be easier. The game doesn't force you to play with KB/M, but PvPing with a controller isn't a particularly good experience. You don't need a 21:9 monitor because, as the video shows, you can have the game force the resolution. So sure, you don't need to buy a monitor, but you do need to play in a resolution that might be awkward for your screen. There are skills that hit beyond the screen. A lot of long range abilities (like Perfect Shot for example) go beyond the top and bottom of the screen. You always want to be using 21:9 if you want to have an edge. There's also just the ability to know your surroundings. I show in the video itself engages from Deadeye on a Gunlancer that are completely and utterly unreactable from the bottom of the screen. If you try doing that from the sides, it would be reactable (and even punishable). Just being more aware of your surroundings due to a larger field of view is beneficial, no matter if your skills are in range or not. It's not hard to dash to be in range then use a skill.

Unfortunately it's outdated with the Arcanist revamps. The class systems/gameplay/ultimates, etc. all still valid but the build itself had changed pods which means it's no longer possible to replicate.

If you get into the playtests, the discord has channels with a lot of information about the heroes' kits, looks, etc.

I'm not comparing it to Lost Ark? It's just another game I found after having enough of LA's PvP scene. It's action and isometric but they're different and I don't make the claim it's an equivalent. I think it looks pretty good honestly, especially for a pre-alpha game. Art assets get updated, and the core gameplay loop is fun so I'm enjoying it.

At the end its as close to legue that wouldnt make sense to play It instead of league itself. As for zthe comparison yes, you didnt. I meant that after playing the combat of lost ark Its really difficult to play anything else

do you mean the chibi art in the thumbnail/bottom right? that's part of the Lost Ark official character promos from way back in release - don't think the artist was ever publicised

Wasn't aware of that one at all! Seems like CBT is on Oct 24th but not sure if I'll make it/get an invite so fingers crossed for that. I'm a bit hesitant with NCSoft; their Master X Master approach to MOBAs shut down awfully fast and their handling of a lot of MMOs I played hasn't been stellar. EIther way the game seems pretty fun from the trailer so if I make it into the test I'll give it a go.

That's what people thought about Apex Legends and yet it really took off (for BR). Heck, Eternal Return has shown you can make a MOBA BR and do very well with it. I think there's promise in these kinds of games, just needs refinement to understand how to make it appealing to both casual and competitive audiences while keeping individual matches fresh. So far I think Project Loki is on the right track.

@@LinNull I think the important distinction is that there is a MASSIVE audience for FPS BRs so it makes sense that developers were still making attempts at the genre even though it was saturated. PubG has the highest peak player count on steam DOUBLING csgo which is #2. Fortnite supposedly still has close to 3 million concurrent players, I can't imagine what it was at in its peak. This MOBA BR genre hasn't found even a fraction of a fraction of the success FPS BRs have, so it makes a lot less sense to me that developers are slamming their head against this genre trying to make it work. Eternal Return is the only game I can think of that is doing remotely well, and let's be real, it just had its 1.0 launch, let's see where it is in a few years and what the retention rate is compared to FPS BRs.

@hoodpope1851 While there's been a lot of forays into the BR genre and MOBA genre (I haven't forgotten Master X Master or Heroes of the Storm) that separately have failed, I genuinely can't think of many MOBA BRs to begin with. Are there even so many games of this type being made? Battlerite Royale is the obvious example and my heart goes out to Stunlock, but I also think that came out under different circumstances; a final attempt to save Battlerite from other fundamental issues it had. Eternal Return is the only one that has been doing remotely well, but it's also only one of 2 really (I guess Royal Crown would count, so 3?). I personally don't like BRs and came into Project Loki with a tempered expectation precisely because I'm not fond of them. I'd much rather be playing a proper arena game than a BR, and there's a reason I also say in the video I won't even know if by the time the games get released I'll even enjoy the state it ends up in. For now, the BR approach is incredibly fun to play - the only BR really that I've genuinely enjoyed. Thankfully, the game DOES have different game modes (I think that's as much as I'm allowed to say for NDA), and while I'm not sure if the alternate modes will ever take centre stage, I'm more than content to play those instead. Assuming that they stay, which I hope they will! Frankly I agree with you. I really don't think taking a foray into the BR genre is a good idea especially nowadays, regardless of whether it's MOBA, FPS or whatever other genre. The success rate for FPS BRs is also ridiculously low. I had like 8+ different dead BRs I referenced via articles in the video, and those were just the ones I knew of. Far more that have died quiet deaths listed on the wikipedia page for BRs. Still, I also think that what Project Loki has going on right now in terms of a combat sandbox and core gameplay lends itself well to the experience. Given the general game-feel and the team behind it, they may just be able to do what Eternal Return is doing but with an even bigger pull given the cross-pollination it could have with League of Legends. I myself am not even coming from a BR or MOBA genre, but from an isometric MMO. Lost Ark is number 3 at Steam peak players, Dota 2 is at 4 and League's player count is gigantic. Rather than looking at it from a MOBA BR genre - given how few attempts at that have even been made to begin with - it may be better to look at how different genres do independently and the potential the game has at being a "mashup" for the audience between them. I fear for the future of the game given the curse of the BR genre, but the MOBA BR genre seems quite new to me. Seeing how much difficulty Battlerite (and now FANGS) had with arena brawlers, would that even be the way? God forbid we get another pure MOBA, the failure rate on that is just as abysmal. As far as we know, this game may never even come out as investors lose confidence in the genre, or they end up pivoting to a different mode altogether as playtesters find alternative game modes to be more enjoyable. It's so early in development that I wouldn't put it beyond them to shift things over if feedback suggests it'd be better that way. At the very least, if I had to put money on a team to pull off a MOBA BR entry, I'd probably put it on Theorycraft.

Right now she definitely feels a lot stronger. Just having charges in Shoulder Charge alone make her much more versatile and harder to counter on engage (since tracking cooldowns is much harder). Fury Blade is very high CD but also one of the hardest hitting skills in the game with amazing range. Definitely a better pick than Red Dust. Zerk can do more single target burst if left alone if you run speed stomp (since you can stomp, Red Dust then Finish Strike which is insane), but in higher levels it's unlikely people will leave you alone for long enough to actually pull those off consistently, so imo Slayer is outright better in non 1v1 scenarios.

Arcana has received revamps that changed her visuals and some pods (like Dance of Spine Flower) sometime after the guide was released. While most of the guide is still relevant, some pods within the build section won't work since they were outright deleted, so it'd need amendments.

Hey! Great to hear the guides are helping. I've done a few PvP guides on Icy Veins (SH and GS) beyond those on my channel, but for the moment I've taken a break from Lost Ark. I'm looking to get back into things when Slayer comes out, but for the moment focusing on other things. Doing just fine though!

Been a bit busy and lost a bit of interest once Season 1 ended, so I haven't been playing Lost Ark currently (meaning no stream vods rn). There's still some on the channel but Twitch is clean currently.

I don't usually press buttons with my pinky, so I'll tend to use 3 fingers for pressing (+ thumb on space bar), but that's good enough to pull combos off.

For me, right click to move, top row goes on QWER, bottom row goes on ASDF. It's the default options, then I just shift skills to my liking (for example I like having my knockups on E and dashes on W, but its up to individual preference.

With Culling/Death Card, you can get 100 to 0 no matter when. The skill he likely used was Evoke, which is a much higher burst than the old builds - so yes, that's definitely possible. Even this video shows at 03:58 an example 1-shot combo and that's without the Evoke build.
