Emergency evasion tactics! "Honks Horn, continues to drive at the kid on a scooter." Consider retraining for your license. If your reaction to an unarmoured child in the road is to honk your horn and shout, and not divert your vehicle at all, I don't want you driving on my streets.
learn the rules and be cooperative by sharing the road not road rage!!!!
and move over you were in the wrong bringing anger to the situation
Scooter is on the wrong side of the road
pedestrians bikers and shooters and wheel chairs always have the right away slow down
Not when they are on the wrong side of the road. Road rules apply to everyone who decides they want to ride whatever it is they ride on the road.

Thanks for the comment! Glad that itâs not just us experiencing this. Only gets better from here đ€đœ
Indeed
Whats perplexing about thatđ
The only awkward thing about spadina and queens quay is that the streetcars on the left take a really wide left turn to go into the right lanes segregated by traffic islands while cars have to go from the right lanes into the left. Streetcars usually get priority left first with that in mind and there's no opposite traffic so ignoring that there's nothing perplexing about it.
Dev handle the problem by adding function "follow the car if you don't know" đ
Have fun replacing the battery you goof
Overall, a HUGE improvement to auto park. It now recognises spots a lot quicker and parks almost perfectly every time (with normal positioning). What are your thoughts on this run? Do you think itâs almost complete or do you think a lot more refinement is needed?
Good job! I was little confused myself first time turning left here.
Itâs a tricky turn for sure!
Yeah don't mind that scrat.... đ
đâŠđ„č
Not perplexing for a *human*
The thing parallel parks better than people I know. Maybe one day I won't have to make the block and go home if I have to parallel park to attend an event.
It has improved considerably to a point where I have it park for me in the garage. In a busy parking lot however, Iâm a lot quicker to park.
Now let's have you two super talented drivers show how much more perfectly you would park flawlessly. every time.
Most of us can park our cars in 1/10 of the time the Tesla used. I haven't even tried mine even though I bought enhanced autopilot for two unfinished functions. Smart summon and autopark.
@@kjelle5350My wife, a professional driver of transfers for 20 years would not defer parking our Tesla, Blanche, to Elon's software no matter how long it took. Smart summon is cool, especially if any Prius drivers are watching our car show up with no one in it. Now I want Blanche to recognize my wife and open her door as she approaches.
At 2:58 , this did not end well for Autopark! 8 cameras and AI and Neural Nets did not help.
We were shocked! We did intentionally push it with bad positioning đ
@@spicytech I hope that FSD continues improving, but today I would not trust it with my wife and child.
@@DerekDavis213 So your saying your wife trusts your driving more than Tesla's. HA.
Someone hit your car on the side?

Thanks for sharing your thoughts! Really appreciate reading different viewpoints. If you haven't done so already or you are new to the channel, check out our stress test in downtown Toronto. You'll be shocked by its performance: czcams.com/video/shx6NbrGgsM/video.html
Itâs likely âlooking atâ both the road and sign. Speed bumps work for us and theyâre very rarely signed.
Hey, thanks for your thoughts! Thatâs awesome that the unsigned bumps work for you. I hope it is consistent, as ours worked 2 out of 3 times. Not sure if this is also a factor but there seems to be some challenge with the systemâs interpretation of shadows , as seen close to the end of the video at 13:46.
@@spicytech Ours may be a bit better than 2/3, but about 100x better than previously. Its speed depends on the shape & height of the bump, when it doesnât slow itâs generally not as jolting as previously, so perhaps it sees and decides not to slow? And yes, weâve had some slowing for shadows. Weâve seen that before with previous versions a long time ago during the âphantom brakingâ era, absolutely a matter of training it out. đđ»
We won't get FSD in Australia for many years but PLEASE Tesla give us the fixed auto wipers
Oh man I feel you on this one. The auto wipers were unusable prior to V12 but should be working regardless!
Cute Robotaxi thumbnail. Look out Franz! Lotsa love to all â€â€â€
I think the system performed well at the intersection where you thought it was too courteous because it will never get regulatory approval if it is too aggressive. Self driving should never block an intersection.
I exclusively drive downtown Toronto since I live there. And v12 has been particularly amazing there specially when it comes to handling construction, it is much more human like.
V12 has been a huge step change improvement when it comes to construction and we both know what that means for our part of Canada đšđŠ
I agree, it shouldnât block an intersection but then if others are filtering into an already congested turn lane, when will we actually move forward if the system is too courteous? Others behind, might honk and overtake us out of aggression and impatience lol.
Is the Robotaxi future here? No, it's still far away. Elon has a history of hype and exaggeration. For example: In 2019, Elon said 1 million robotaxis by the year 2020. Robotaxis have to operate in busy big cities, without human supervision. During the busy morning commute, and in the rain, and at night too. Spicy Tech your excellent review of FSD in Toronto showed that FSD still has many problems in the city, and human supervision is *required* . And why the urgency for robotaxis anyway? Uber or Lyft drivers are easily available today, all over USA and Canada.
Thanks for your thoughts Derek. I think we have a while before it becomes completely usable in downtown Toronto. We will see by end of this year to first half of next year whether or not it is truly capable, when it is deployed in San Francisco.
Waymo sucks
Itâs one of the best so far. Interested to see what Tesla has to offer by end of year or first quarter of next.

FSD has problems in Toronto: 1:35 Human intervenes, taps the accel pedal. FSD was hesitating 2:38 Human intervenes, FSD is not stopping as it should 3:08 Human intervenes, FSD does not respond to police car with sirens 3:58 FSD stops at the wrong place in a construction zone 13:30 FSD struggles in traffic gridlock 13:57 Very tight lane change. Not good 14:55 FSD goes on the red trolley track! Not good 16:35 Human intervenes, taps the accel pedal. FSD was clueless FSD Full Autonomy is a long ways off!
Wow! Thank you for the breakdown! Still not ready for these conditions in my opinion, but has substantially improved over V11. Will give it a chance to improve with training.
@@spicytech I watched your whole video, I was happy to take some notes. I have watched FSD struggle in New York or San Francisco, but I was not aware that Toronto is a challenging city too! I hope that when future FSD updates are released, you run it through the gauntlet of Toronto. đ
Informative and entertaining video as always. đ Really miss Toronto. Reversing on the road like the guy at 4:25 is so normal in my country it stops being crazy. đ
Hopefully it can handle your country in the near future!
People turn into the red, streetcar area on a regular basis. The turns onto Queens Quay are the most difficult in the country.
Thatâs very true. In our previous downtown Toronto videos it was able to make the turn without going into the streetcar lane. It had a lead vehicle so not sure if thatâs why it made it.
I love the saga of returning to the infamous Queenâs Quay left turn
Yes! I was so pumped to see how it would handle the infamous turn đ„č Hopefully next updates fixed it đ€đŒ
LETS GOOOOO! V12 is getting really good handling heavy traffic now!
It sure is! Itâs definitely getting there! It also leaves space in a congested intersection. Overall impressive stuff.
Tesla FSD đ
Just a note about why the streetcar on Queens Quay stopped beside you, it's TTC policy that they stop at all forward facing switches to check that they are set in the right direction before they proceed accordingly.
Yes, for sure. Thank you for elaborating on this. FSD has consistently handled this well.
@@spicytech it's basically a safety thing for the streetcar operators because they don't have a signal that tells them that the switch is set properly. Some places it's worse than others like for example on Queen Street east nearby the streetcar barn where there are several tracks branching off the street into the yard.
Great video showing some of the complicated interactioms with streetcars and pedestrians :)
Thank you for tuning in!
This is garbo
lol it was going to stop on the disengagement hehe not "critical" you are just to scare of other people driving maybe :P
Better safe than sorry đ . It was swerving between lanes on a busy road. Itâs been happening a lot lately.
nice to see a video on youtube where you recognize the street đ
Glad you were able to see how it would handle a place near you!
